Dear Crazy for concept- currently Tolvaptan is used for = For the treatment of clinically significant hypervolemic and euvolemic hyponatremia (serum sodium < 125 mEq/L or less marked hyponatremia that is symptomatic and has resisted correction with fluid restriction), including patients with heart failure, cirrhosis, and Syndrome of Inappropriate Antidiuretic Hormone (SIADH). It is approved now. below are the link cdsco.gov.in/opencms/resources/UploadCDSCOWeb/2018/UploadImmunization/NewDrugsrecommendedndac.pdf cdsco.gov.in/opencms/resources/UploadCDSCOWeb/2018/UploadCommitteeFiles/71thCardiovascula6dec.pdf
Currently a clinical trial is also going on for = Tolvaptan add-on Therapy to Overcome Loop Diuretic Resistance in Acute Heart Failure With Renal Dysfunction (DR-AHF) clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04331132
Initially it is classified as Antidiuretic for the treatment of treatment of hyponatraemia due to CHF, cirrhosis of liver or syndrome of inappropriate A DH secretion (SIADH). It increases free water clearance by the kidney (aquaretic) and helps to correct the low plasma Na levels.
If scientist find some positive result of following clinical trial (Tolvaptan add-on Therapy to Overcome Loop Diuretic Resistance in Acute Heart Failure With Renal Dysfunction (DR-AHF) )clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04331132 then they discuss the issue of its classification.
Dear sir, You are trying to push the students towards Ratta Maar Theory... To remember the things they must understand concept and to understand the concepts you must explain the scientific reasons of the classification to them... As in First Class of High Ceiling you can say the students to remember the amide group which is common in them... In second class You can explain Benzothiazide as like, Benzo means Benzene, This means sulphur and azide means nitrogen... This is I am saying in conceptual type of study... I really appreciate your efforts but I think the students will never understand the concept behind it...
Thanks for your suggestion. I will include this type of concept in near future. However, Students need to write name of drugs in the exam & my perspective is for pharmacology, not for medicinal chemistry. See my Urinary system playlist (ruclips.net/video/cJYncxMGYTw/видео.html) where i discuss all the things conceptually which is related to diuretic drugs. As well as My title of lecture is Mnemonic/tricks for classification of diuretics that's why I explain accordingly.
More video on this topic sir please 🙏
