Who am I?
Expert singing teacher, specialising in teaching children and young adults in singing and musical theatre. She has worked with the likes of The Saturdays for MTV, on shows such as Just the Two of Us for the BBC and many more. Throughout her years of teaching she has judged in many competitions, judging Lucy Spraggan, George Samson, amongst others who have gone onto succeed in the business.

she's the mother of all Queens in the Philippines. every great filipino belter that you know of is a fan of Regine. you should check out her 'What Kind of Fool Am I', it's her best performance and might as well prepare a few tissues.
One of the reasons I love watching is to be exposed to singers I didn't know existed. She is stunning. Some similarities to Celine in her tone (especially the lower falsetto and accenting) for sure!
She never lipsynchs in a paid concert too.

@@steverythingalmonds4908The size of one's career has little to do with lipping. Regine holds concerts here and there. She goes on tour where she sings almost nonstop for two hours. She does that once or twice a week during tours. There are times she does it two days back to back. Then she performs in her weekly shows. She does all these without having to lip. Mind you, almost all her songs require much belting. She simply just has the better stamina and endurance compared to Celine. And she is capable of powerfully belting high notes many divas can only dream of..Regine may not be considered by others as the best singer, but she is certain a freak of nature who is among the best of the best. Actually, if not for her acid reflux, she would still sound almost just as great, now at over, as she did in her prime..This woman's belting capacity and lung power surpass that of the Vocal Trinity of the US..She is just being underestimated because she is Asian..and a Filipina at that..
@@steverythingalmonds4908whitney in her prime had a much bigger career than Celine ever did. But I have never seen Whitney lip especially during concerts. Celine, on the other hand, does too much lipping...almost as much as Mariah does...too much that it makes me question if she (and Mariah) truly deserve the amount of admiration and respect she has for her vocals.

She *has* on TV very few times. There was this time she lipped to the theme from Atlantika on SOP. It's clear why she doesn't make a habit of it, though- she was so bad at lipping. She's much better off just singing for real.

In the 90's she's been given the title "Song Bird of Asia" because of her incredible voice...

at the age of 50, she still blessed and still going having that powerful voice. she's indeed and still one of the most powerful vocalist these days. ❤️ i also love the song btw ❤️❤️

There was a period in her life, which wasn't too long ago, that she had lost her voice. And even when she managed to get it back, it took a while before had managed to get back into top condition. So yes, people can maintain their voices even as they age but it would take excessive care.

True. And It took a long while for her to recover as not just her voice was affected but her confidence as well. A person with no confidence with his/her own talent is like a rootless tree. Fortunately, Regine just woke up one day and decided to believe on herself again, like a Phoenix who got resurrected from its ashes and sores high again.
She didn’t Really lose her voice. What happened was she got pregnant and stretched her diaphragm muscle. After giving birth, this diaphragm weakened and made it harder for her to belt as easily as before. Then she developed acid reflux Because she loves to eat and Had a cooking show. After she quit the cooking show, got slimmer, and moved to a channel station where she is singing every week she regained it all back b
@@quiddy She did actually. Remember her silver anniversary? I mean I don't like getting much into details but she contracted a virus that affected her voice and as an avid fan, even after that event you could see her voice hadn't been the same. I do agree with you about how her pregnancy and the acid reflux that followed. But I guess, at the very root, it always comes down to age. People's physiology does change and wear down as they age, including and in Regine's case, this was further exacerbated by her pregnancy, acid reflux, and diet.
All in all, it's an inspiring story seeing how she managed to turn all of that around and better herself even further. She even admitted that she had to re-learn how to sing to adjust to her acid reflux. And I definitely agree that her moving to a new station is what propelled her recovery further. Her doctors even told her to sing more. I'm sorry this was long. lol
@@kai.09 Your explanation is what I've been waiting to read or hear. We're still blessed indeed that she intelligently learned a new technique to adjust her singing to her new condition. That being said, we have a reborn experience of her in which we allow ourselves to still hear the voice that can never be traded with any sort of voice that new singers deliver at present.

I don't think so. Celine's voice is more angelic and eargasm, Regine's voice is incredible especially in belting but I'm bit impressed with Celine's voice even though that's not as Regine. Both are good.

She CAN STILL sing. She doesn't lipsync on her concerts. Sure Mariah is a legend. But it's toxic fans like you that bring out the toxic in me too. And I don't even care.
In conclusion, one still delivers, the other can barely maintain making seal noises.

Hi Georgina. Just wanted to say that there were stories about Regine at times not talking for a day or two. That was one way she may have maintained her instrument through the years. This OPM (Original Pilipino Music) song Shine was composed by Trina Belamide for a Philippine song contest back in 1996.
Never heard of that. Do you have any link? She maintained her instrument because her technique is excellent. Despite of aging and severe acid reflux, she is still a risk taker and will always deliver sick or not
I think this isn’t true because knowing regine, she’s so bubbly and talkative, she can’t even hold a second without talking. Hahahaha

Thank you for reacting to her. You know Regine influenced most of the singers in the Philippines from the late 80s onwards including the famous young singers you hear now. As she came from an earlier era some of the best moments then are not on RUclips due to technilogy. So it matters that you noticed her. Thank you. Thats her signature style of singing. Every song she sings become more and more emotional. Every singer in the Philippines immitate her belting but singing so quietly is the hardest style that younger generation have difficulty. She's 50 but her voice still sound so young.

Premier Philippine composer and music genius Ryan Cayabyab described Regine’s voice and I quote “ Regine does not have what I call ‘the flip’ that is when someone changes register, her transition is very smooth and she reaches those high notes naturally”

Hi Georgina, loved the reaction and analysis. It's great seeing Regine still able to reach the stratosphere with those belts, even in her 50's. Ask, any singer, any top Diva, in the Philippines. Including my favourite Morissette! who is the No 1 singer. They will all say Regine. I love this song. Morissette covered it on the Wish bus a while back. You can react to that if you want. She did a fantastic job. As you can expect from Morissette. Morissette has just put out a new video. It's a mash up of Moon River and a Tagalog song Usahay. It's such a beautiful and brilliant mashup.

You know one of the main reasons why she’s been able to preserve her wonderful, resonant belt?
She doesn’t do the following gimmicks with her voice:
1) the Mariah whistle tone: it weakens your belt
2) the christina Aguilera/Jennifer Holliday growl: you will develop a bitone as you age (it’s when a tiny portion of your vocal muscle tissue slightly separates or tears and sticks out just enough to catch the air flow as it passes by and vibrates, causing a secondary sound/vibration ( similar to singing through an electric fan)
3) the 1998-present day Mariah husky, whispery singing: whispering is bad for you in general but trying to put brakes on the natural projection of your sound is bad for your cords

What regine's doing she modifies the vowel sound to hit it... not good at all... She has voice deterioation also.... She's good but Mariah is better. Just saying.
It’s true she also never did much falsetto, as it’s breathy and brings air which isn’t healthy, her head voice is very strong though
