hands down, my favourite living musician. everything a musician should be: sonic philosopher, multi-dimensional sculptor, cosmic tour-guide, cultural frontiersman, divine ambassador.
This interview explains why Julian's jazz hits me harder than other guitarists, first song I learned was a country blues song (the Stones version of Love In Vain) and now I get why his jazz always has that bluesy twangy thing going on, this is basically what I'd play if I was capable. Just perfect.
Never seen him play before. This was good. Not to everyone’s taste perhaps but it’s always great to see young players at home with their instruments pushing the boundaries of music and enjoying themselves. Great stuff 👍🍷.
I realize that I could just listen to spaces between the notes Julian plays, and it's a whole different song by itself happening at the same time. What an incredible treasure he is - bravo!
Just come back to this video. I’m a HUUUUUGE fan of Julian. There’s no one to touch him IMHO. Just wanted to say the performances here trans among the best examples of the breadth, sensitivity and dynamics of his playing;. there’s just about everything here.
I can’t help but feel like this is old wine on new skins somehow. Nothing new about the tones or sound. Not to say it is not interesting, they make an effort which is always interesting. Beautiful for sure, I like everything about it. Maybe I have just gone off music which is really terrible and a me-problem. I’m just not inspired 😑
He couldn't sound more like himself and less like anyone else if he tried, Lage is completely unique. You have absolutely no clue what you are talking about, please move on.
I want a GPS with Julian's voice as an option. "Awe looks like you missed your turn, but that's ok! At least we learned something."
hhaahha😂😂 thats Fucking hilarious..
JAJAJAJAJAJAJA SO FCKING KIND.
hhahahahaha omg this is so funny and explains his voice perfectly
hahahahahaah DED
One of the best comments ever 😂
Holy mother of Nacho! that's the first time I've heard Julian on the bridge pickup. Spellbinding as usual, but with a janglier edge.

quite the description !
and humble
Damn that playing is so conversational - I love it.
Everything this guy plays or says inspires me.

7:11 is so amazing those swells have me laughing everytime!
Beautyful guitar playing and beautyful bass and drum too. and no showing off. So this is proof of greatness I guess
2:55 Atlantic Limited
9:24 Look Book
24:30 Roger the Dodger
Simply mind-blowing guitar playing , and deep pocket musicianship from this trio.
Man that tele's neck looks and sounds like caramelised butter😘.

Awesome musicians. There is never the slightest meaningless note or sound..

Great guitar i am fan i like fingerstyle picking American too Melodies spiritual things
Incredible performance!! Love it!
Dude is very well spoken, in conversation as well as on the guitar.
yeah but that announcer dude is kind of annoying
I think the announcer does a really great job myself.
What a lovely guitar.
absolutely amazing!
So good!! Love Julian's music, thanks so much for sharing it!!
Exactly! So good.
Robert Keeley Wow!, Mr. Robert Keeley himself!! Sir your work is as great as Julian's!!
I really want his guitar strap!! Any idea what could it be??? "Fender Broken-in Leather Strap Tan" maybe?
Nacho caster strap maybe
@ideastream The microphones being used on Dan and Julian's voices sound amazing for the purpose. What are they?! Thanks, great interview as well Dan!
Shotgun. Obviously, we can't tell the manufacture, but they are super, super sensitive. Most commonly used in film & television.
God damn the bass blow on look book
Dig your work Sir. Best Regards
The drummers sound is phenomanal. These cymbals sounds so lush... What brand are these rides?
Sabain artisan light ride I think
Is the first song a Little Wing cover? Actual question. Never heard these guys before.
6:10 esa frase me hace reír un poco a la vez que me parece adorable
It!
wha'appen to the champ? looks like a deluxe or a princeton back there now? need 2 6v6s now?
what a fkn cutie 🥰
He goes more and more into Jim Campilongo territory
and Bill Frisell's i think
Campilongo has nothing on Lage.
Kind of reminds me of Scofield a little as well.
He’s got an immense foundation. Seems like he’s just getting started, and his options are unlimited.
Where the "starts at" comment?
So which side of his parents descended from Abraham Lincoln?
Brad Paisley said the country guitar is just jazz guitar on the bridge pickup.
Thanks :)

51 tele? V neck? Nice either way.
I totally love he plays without a boat load of pedals! Love it!
I think it's a Nachocaster. He's a guitar builder in Spain specializing in Teles mostly. Julian talks about it somewhere in internet land.
@@shag1der Yup.
🌬🤯🇦🇷
Sounds like Come fly away with me by Norah Jones.
This performance is amazing but this announcer is tweaky and uncomfortable to watch and listen to lol
He's alright. It seems like he's just good at his job

Why do NPR people talk like that
DJs talk way too damn much!
Wants so badly to sound like Scofield. Get ur own voice!
He couldn't sound more like himself and less like anyone else if he tried, Lage is completely unique. You have absolutely no clue what you are talking about, please move on.
Hahaha, look mommy I can type words on the screen and watch how people react to them
Smh... I just can't even.
@@RiperSnifle get him Jamie, good man
Julian Lage has one of the most distinctive voices on the guitar today and sounds absolutely nothing like Scofield.
