I always thought it was neat to see them being siblings. Like when he acts like he's gonna hit her when they're playing video games. Such a brother move.
Guys, Janet Jackson was super huge. Her only comparison was Michael. She even had the highest paying record contract at one point even higher then her brother Michael. She was i guess like the beyonce of that time.
Glad you appreciated this, Nick and Alexia! You’re right, this has remained the most expensive video because it has become so much cheaper to do special effects. I think it will maintain that record. MJ is still a controversial figure, and there are a lot of people who would like to cancel his memory. But you can’t erase his accomplishments as an artist. Picasso is still a great painter, and Chinatown is still a great movie. My opinion. Janet came onboard this project to support her brother during tough times. She sang this live at the VMA Awards in 2009 after Michael died, with the video playing behind her. A very emotional moment. This song still matters.
Thank for this my friend! I was obsessed with michael Jackson as a child! Remember watching this video so many times! Song holds up for sure and the video mostly does too!
Not only has it become cheaper to do special effects, but Michael, on several occasions pioneered brand new tech that was not commonplace at the time. Also, look at alot of the heavy effects videos these days, and they for the most part are not as flawless as this.
I remember that Awards show JK, yes it was very emotional. I agree with everything you said. We can't deny talent. Thanks so much for suggesting this one - took me down memory lane!
What I need you guys to do is do research and listen to more Janet Jackson. She is one of the biggest and most successful artist ever. She actually rivals her brother and Madonna. Janet was actually Madonna's biggest competition during their prime years. If you know the Off The Wall, Thriller, and Bad albums by Michael I can't see how you don't know or have heard of Janet's "Control", "Rhythm Nation", and "janet." albums. Janet is in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame for a reason and has sold over 160 million albums. She was the Highest Paid singer in History on two different occasions. She signed the biggest record contract in history in 1992 when she signed with Virgin Records for $40 million dollars, then in 1995 when she resigned with Virgin Records because her "janet" album did so well and sold over 20 million copies. She resigned with Virgin in 1995 for a whopping $80 Million Dollars which they labeled her "The Queen Of Pop." No artist at that time ever signed a deal that high. Look it up. She still to this date holds the record for the Most Top 5 Singles from one album on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart with Seven songs going Top 5 and Four of those songs hitting Number 1. She did that with the Rhythm Nation album spanning from 1989 to 1991. No one has beaten that record to this day. She has 7 Number 1 Billboard Top 200 Albums and 10 Number 1 Billboard Hot 100 singles which makes makes her one of the most successful in History. React to these videos by Janet: Rhythm Nation, Nasty, Miss You Much, That's The Way Love Goes, When I think of You, All For You, Again, Love Will Never Do, IF, Together Again, I Get Lonely, Black Cat, No Sleep, and Made For Now. I listed just a few of her biggest hits just so you have a variety and a span of years to see how long and successful her career has been over the decades. These dates range from 1986 to 2018. Just check out a few to get a feel of Queen Janet.
Janet is ❤👑💯😍 all you wrote is true *JANET 👑 JACKSON* I would add: 🔸Runaway, 🔸Got 'Til it's Gone, 🔸Just a little while, 🔸Son Of A Gun, 🔸Some one to call my lover . . .
I wish Janet Jackson got more love and respect. She’s an incredible artist and icon in her own right. Imagine your brother being the biggest artist ever and STILL managing to carve your own lane, with an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, over 160 million records sold, the biggest debut tour of all time and the list goes on. I think if you guys knew more about her, you’d understand why she’s accomplished these things.
She has had me in her fandom since Dream Street (1984) Nothing could ever take that away......Rhythm Nation 1814 solidified her as my top artist ever for this life and the next one.
I completely agree with you! Janet paved her own path and worked her butt off without any help from her brothers. She has her place in musical history and no one can take that from her. I feel blessed to have seen her live in concert for every tour she has done since 1990....AMAZING live performer!!
I had a sign print of a picture of Janet Jackson that was the CD cover it was hanging on the wall in my hall. A friends asked who it was. Another friend said that’ll get you thrown out of the house not knowing who it was.
Michael Jackson is a rabbit hole worth taking! Sounds like you are getting a head start! I was obsessed with Michael in my early teens! He has so many great videos and great songs! Amazing talent that we lost way too soon! Really enjoyed the reaction!❤
there are special effects that movies use that were invented for a video/mini movie for MJ productions ! he was far ahead of his time .. still miss him
FYI Just to let you know just how big JANET is, she's alongside her brothers in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! She's the blueprint for the, Britney's, Beyonce's, etc.!
Janet Jackson has a song called, " The Great Forever" that from what I understand Michael is suppose to have sang but most people say it's really Janet, please check it out sometime, you will Love it, great song, Janet has a lot of Michael's little sounds with her vocals
Wow I remember when this video came out - very cutting edge! Love Janet Jackson and her Control album. Two VERY talented siblings. Thanks so much JK for requesting this and thanks Nick and Lex for reacting to it!💞
What's interesting about this is that Janet was in her peak. Just signed an 80$ dollar deal with Virgin, came out of a three #1 album strike and a major world tour that lasted two years. Michael, on the other hand, was in the lowest. Just out of a trial and needed a boost. He asked Janet to work on a song together. They used Janet's production team (Jimmy JAm and Terry Lewis) and she chosed director Mark Romanek for the video. It was her helping her big brother in a difficult time.
He hadn't just come out of the trial (that was in 2005), but he was at a low point after the 1993 case was settled for $20 million - against his will by the insurance company - because a lot of people thought that made him look guilty.
Fun request Jk. I barely remember this song. In 1995 I spent half a year living in the boonies with no TV reception, I don’t even think I had a TV. Then I moved across country and took the job. I’ve had for the last 29 years. In Some ways 1995 was a musical black hole for me. It’s fun to see this video. 30 years later. I wonder what else I missed from 1995. 😂
It’s too bad he wasn’t able to do more collaborations with Janet. They were so good together. I remember when this came out. It was widely publicized when it was going to premiere. It was more like watching a new tv show or movie rather than a music video. Usually music videos don’t get a huge premiere like this. It was so impressive the quality of it for the mid 90s. It was like did he really go to the future and make this video?
Great reaction!! This video/song was such an anticipated 'event' much like MJ's Black Or White. Janet's voice here is a near spot-on match to Michael's when he was in Jackson 5 - so as a kid. Indeed you can tell the familial connections! While not the 'best' song in his catalogue, this was a good, fun release - and a great collaboration with MJ's sister! HIGHLY suggest checking more of MJ! Dirty Diana, Who Is It, Earth Song....anything off the Thriller album (let's face it - that album is it's own Greatest Hits collection!!) Cheers!
If a grown man, after dodging a major criminal case, kept having little white boys (never had black boys over for sleepovers) for a sleep over you'd call the police. Get real.
I don't think younger people understand thriller...the opening movie is based on grade B horror movies of the 1950s.... the special effects are supposed to look a little cheesy because it's an homage to those types of movies where you can see the seams(the whiskers scene is a perfect example)..its 50s special effects in an 80s music video(short film) on purpose. The girl in it is wearing a poodle skirt and has a ponytail and Michael gives her a promise ring... you know ...50s s#@t. Also, Nobody dressed like that in the 80s.
Janet said she was bummed when they did the video because the parts they were separate in the video they behind the scenes people kept them separate. She was hoping to have more interaction with each other like when they were kids.
A surprise to see this again after so many years JK. Even in SA the release of this video was a big deal and everyone wanted to see it. To be very honest I saw it once and that was enough for me. I didn't really like the song much, and for me the video wasn't as interesting as the videos for all the hits from Thriller, Bad and Dangerous. But that's just me, and it's always great to go back in time to see these cultural touchstones of history.
This music is timeless, love Mike and Janet so much ❤❤ Even if it is a bit dated we have to keep it in mind that it’s 1995,a lot better than what’s out there nowadays.I never think the 90s is dated at least to me it never was and never will be ❤
He always used the lastest technology in his videos The first time morphing was used in his black & white video It was extremely expensive . Janet was also 5 when she stared Her sucsesful acting carrer Somthing Michel never achieved She is a star in her own right for sure They were the closest to each other and had a great efection for one another .
I really LOVE this song, this album! A double album,,,, 1 disc was new tracks and the other was a best of. There are lots of collabs on those new tracks: the Notorious B.I.G, Shaq (the basketball player), R. Kelly Wrote a song and also sings, Boy II Men, a Run DMC Sampling, etc... There is an awesome cover of They Don't Care about Us from the Beatles :) For me this was perfect as I own CDs from both Michael & Janet. I just wish that they would of sang softly a little more than those 10 secs.
What's sad about this video is that Janet was kept away from her own brother by Michael's "people" unless they were required to be on set together. How ridiculous is THAT? She wasn't allowed to be on his "side" of the production during downtime. She says it herself in her docuseries 😢.
You heard Janet was just as famous? Janet is literally a living legend and ICON! She is a pioneer in this game and one of the highest selling entertainers of all time. Do the research 🧐. Great reaction though 😊
The build up to the release of this video was monumental. Seems like everyone I knew had plans to be in front of their tv's at the appointed time - including me. I had been an MJ fan since his days with the J5 on Ed Sullivan. Gotta say Scream left me asking "what the heck" ? Did not care for it all - imho. The video for Black or White was much more to my taste. Loved the morphing effect at the end. It was ground breaking for the time.
Her success was in the era of positive music not the garbage these talentless wannabe singers being push by the music industry and coupled with woke generation that's get over the top whenever any garbage songs/singers were thrown down to us by the music producers.
Poor Michael. I hope he has found the peaceful place he deserves. 😢 ❤
I always thought it was neat to see them being siblings. Like when he acts like he's gonna hit her when they're playing video games. Such a brother move.
I remember the release of this on national TV. It was appointment television for all Jackson fans.

MJ is 100% innocent

I agree. 50 years old and in the condition he was in. Definitely something fishy
@@NicknLex there’s a lot of questionable and shady stuff that went down before he died
he was innocent no doubt, but the murder thing i dont think so, is well known that mj had an adiction to medicines
He was proven innocent in a long trial. The folks who accused him were found to be fraudulent.
