In 1985, the artists were still the driving force in the music industry, and could still get together for a good cause. Nowadays, technology can produce so-called stars out of no talent models, and call all the shots. There is no money in charity, so why should the suits let their talent give away their performance.

The documentary is an essential watch to grasp what an accomplishment this really was. But the video of the song is more awesome. I want to pick a favorite singer or combination but I can’t really. It’s all so good. Seeing Lionel Ritchie last night on the Grammy awards show brought it all back. Thanks for this reaction and all your hard work on the channel. Now you have to react to Joni Mitchell’s debut performance of Both Sides Now from last nights Grammy Awards. I hope you saw it live. I did thanks to Kevin and your channel.

When you watched the autographs at the beginning, Lex says, “Someone put their thumb.” That was STEVIE WONDER. In this era where people stopped buying vinyl albums I realize that this generation doesn’t know that all of Stevie Wonder’s album covers had his thumb print and his crudely written autograph (in block letters) in the credits. He also had the title of the album and his name printed in RAISED BRAILLE, usually on the back of the album and sometimes on the front. Just an FYI for you both.

He went on to organize the Live Aid concert, which seemed to spread the idea to other nations like the USA and Canada.

The person who doesnt get any credit for this is HARRY CHAPIN who died a couple years earlier in a car crash. He donated the proceeds to every other show he performed to Food Banks across the USA. He started the ball rolling and influenced many of the artists in this video with his generosity and spirit

Wow, I have not watched this video in a long time. It was such a big deal when it came out, and there is an album that was released that included this song and songs by other artists who contributed to it. I bought the album to support the charity, and still have it in my record collection. Thanks for a great reaction!

Besides Prince and Madonna, another artist who wasn’t invited was Whitney Houston. Her debut album would be released 2 weeks after this recording session. Had they known how big it would be, I’m sure they would’ve invited her. After all, she was Dionne Warwick’s niece, and her first album contains a duet with Jermaine Jackson, so Michael and Quincy knew who she was.

Thank you for watching the documentary first to have insight as to who everyone that was in the spotlight is, some of the singers such a Latoya , Marlon ,and Randy Jackson, The Pointer Sister's, Sheila E, and a few others sometimes are not easily recongnized. I have not seen the NETFLIX Documentary but I dont need to because I was a teenager in the late 70's and early 80's and saw the MTV Special , so I know who everyone is.

@MamaD-db4jj We can agree to disagree . It just does a disservice to the Iconic artists in the video when the person doing the review doesn't know who they are or use the wrong name. I have seen it happen many times. But I respect your opinion. 😊

@Winnib7479 The point is they are doing a reaction! They could've done some research first. It's like putting the cart before the horse! Again, it spoils the interest of finding out who's who in the video. Case and point, after watching the documentary, they still had questions!!! ❤️

Most people that are reacting to this song 40 years later don’t even realize it was 1985 when it was recorded. The New Wave, Punk Rock, Pop Rock, Heavy Metal, R & B, and the rising of Rap music. Time warp fact: a year later Jan. 28, 1986 was when the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded, and the year prior Jan. 27-28, 1984, Michael. Jackson’s hair caught on fire during the filming of a Pepsi commercial for his song Billy Jean.
