I'm not gonna lie. I paused this video at 0:36 just to comment this. I like this guy. he doesn't seem stuck up and snobby like the rest of the RUclips guitarists I've seen and he keeps it real. " I'm not even gonna pretend like I know the rest of that solo" 😂
They aren't beginner songs dude. They are easy once you get going but are not for beginners. My point being, dont let it put you off, keep on digging in and you will be awesome.
imo they are begginer riffs, but you not being able to play it doesn't mean you're below the begginer level. I've been playing for a year and still consider myself a begginer
0:52 Riff 1 (Scorpions - Rock You Like a Hurricane) 2:58 Riff 2 (Ozzy Osbourne - Crazy Train) 4:40 Riff 3 (AC/DC - Thunderstruck) 6:36 Riff 4 (The Beatles - Day Tripper) 8:50 Riff 5 (Boston - More Than a Feeling)
When he says for beginners I think he means riffs that teach you valuable skills that you will use throughout your playing not just the easiest riffs that sound cool
Rob G don't give up it takes awhile to get your fingers to stretch and get used to the movements. Took me two years of constant practice to be confident with my fingers as well as strengthening them to handle the demand
Muggly X no they won't guitar hero is so much easier than actually guitar, instead of playing only five notes you have to space your fingers, constantly moving up and down the neck and you have to worry about picking, sweep picking, alternate picking etc.
Robert Baker I'm confused because the way you show on the whole tutorial for More than a feeling is played differently than this. Which one is correct? You say it starts picking " D B G E" but in the full song video you made for guitar control you say "D G B E" for the intro picking. I'm lost
this is exactly the type of video I was looking for . things that are not just necessarily teaching me riffs , but tools to be used later on as I progress with guitar. This is perfect man. Thank you
I'm an old-school bluesy/rock guitar player and I've been playing for over 30 years. When I saw the link for this video, my old fart brain immediately thought, "Oh wow. Here's another long-haired douche who's just going to play fast and not teach anything". I was totally wrong, you ARE NOT a douche, and I always like it when I'm proven wrong in this manner - lol. I've know all of these riffs for decades, but if I believe in anything about guitar, I have a very firm belief in helping bring up new players so the traditions can continue. You've done an excellent job here. I'm going to e-mail my 13 year old son a link to this video and tell him to git workin' on these riffs. You've inspired this old dog to learn some new tricks. THANK YOU!!! :)
Learning how to play Rock You Like A Hurricane will make you feel like a million bucks! I learned how to play it when I was very young and it's a good "go to" song for impressing your buds, or more importantly...the ladies! Lol Power Chords + Distortion + Volume = Warm and fuzzy feelings inside + Confidence + Great sense of accomplishment! Thanks for the awesome recommendations RB! You rock, my man!
I have been binge watching guitars for two weeks now because I have nothing to do this summer but play all my nice new guitars I bought. I have run into three different videos now I like them I subbed and I’m ready to giver! Boston one of my faves!
I love the More Than a Feeling bit, It's so much fun and great practice for me! I wouldn't consider myself a full on beginner, but I'm just barely past that. I'm still working on the single note picking and it helps a ton. New subscriber for sure!
I've been playing for almost 5 months now- and let me tell you, it's an awesome feeling when you notice you actually understand what is being taught 😂😂
Thanks for your experience sharing all around the world,im in Melbourne Australia. The power of music. Please play some love gun for kiss fans if you get time.
My nephews all pitched in and bought me an SG guitar. The first song or riff I tried to learn was Thunderstruck. The most common advice I've received is learn to play the riff slowly and the speed of the riff will follow. Well I got the slow part down but I can't seem to learn how to play up to speed. I get so frustrated that I put the guitar away for awhile and then after some time I try again but same result.
I've picked up a guitar lessons a couple of weeks ago. I'm gonna give those riffs a go. Even though my fingers are sloppy and uncoordinated as hell, yet.
The nice thing about those riffs is you can record a little loop with them and work on your pentatonic leads when you get to that stage. I think Daytripper is actually in C instead of E. Not as beginner in C, though. Plus it has another really good riff that you can use for blues kinds of things after that first riff that is actually easier than the first riff. Come Together is another good Beatles riff that is beginner friendly. Good video! Thanks.
These are all great! Good reasoning begin learning these early. I'm just getting into teaching guitar and having these in my back pocket for budding rock guitarist to learn is amazing :)
tbh i dont know how to play the guitar but i wish i knew, but for some reason i still enjoy watching your vids hoping to one day actually learning the riffs
Distortion or not who doesn't love More than a feeling such a classic song and great intro. and not as hard as I thought after watching you. All good riffs thanks for the smoothie. LOL
Hey there, I just wanted to let you know I think your doing a great job on your channel all around and you are a great guitarist. You inspired me to get back into playing, thank you for that. Keep up the great work.
Hey nice Video it really helped me. I have a little advice for you. You could use a compressor for the audio so everything is on the Same noise Level. Now i think your guitar is much louder than your voice
I never thought about learning more than a feeling but after seeing this I can see that it is a great finger placement, picking, and how to learn to get those clean notes on the frets. Thanks! Jus learning that has helped me a lot in other things too
Nice lesson! You sure make it look easy! I clicked on it because I kept hearing your name from other youtubers. Glad I did! Don’t know how I’ve missed you this long. Subscribed! I’ve got some catching up to do. Thank You!
Man I tried learning to play but I just never got it, this video is inspired me to try it again but keep up theses videos! I'm excited to see what else you can put out!
Bobby Hall I was the same way! I played for about 6 months when I was seven and then just gave up. I started up again when I was 12 and now that I'm 13, I'm working on learning to shred metal songs and guitar is the best thing that has ever happened to me! Never give up on music! That is one thing I've learned in my 13 years of being alive.
Νικος Χ it all depends on practice and what you start with. I remember when I started I learned to play the intro to snow by rhcp before even learning some basic riffs like smoke on water etc. I couldn't play it perfect but it was like 80% speed. There are some easy riffs out there that I still haven't even played just out of not wanting to.
Brian Kaiser Yeah, it's all about working on the ring finger and pinky. They're the two weakest digits, the ring finger's tendons are connected to the middle finger so making it operate independently is tough, and some songs like "Born to be Wild" need a real stretch from the pinky.
Good work my friend! I wish someone had pointed out to me when I was first learning that not all learner riffs had to be so plain and not lead to better playing. It's great that you explain so clearly that there are good reasons to try and learn songs that will help you pick up other songs easier in the future. I hope your videos inspire player to keep developing and grow their playing styles.
I honestly wish with every fiber of my being that those responsible for the ads during this video come down with a moderate infestation of saber toothed crotch crickets! Great video, thanks for posting.
they are not beginner friendly, but they can teach you guitar really well. I've been playing for two years, and it took me 5 months to learn them all, but now things like paranoi smoke in the water, nirvana and so on look pretty easy
Like he said in the video, you (meaning the beginner) don't have to play it at full speed at the first time. And the thing is, you can't get better if you'll be stuck at easy shit all the time, you have to try harder things.
My forearm muscles fatigue from the workout of riff 2 Crazy Train bc of the persistent finger reaching especially from 1st finger on fret 2 to pinky (4th finger) on fret 5, making it an excellent finger, hand and forearm conditioning warmup/exercise. And I love riff 1 rock you like a hurricane, for it is so simple, yet makes me sound god-like. Tomorrow I’ll practice riffs 3 and 4, etc
I never even imagined this would happen, where a guitar guy was teaching riffs and I would know one of them already. I already knew how to play that Ozzy riff, what a trip! Edit: I know day tripper too!! And I wrote "what a trip" before he got to that riff...what a trip!
William White any guns n roses solos bud, if your total new to soloing start off with knocking on heavens door or maybe patience if you want an acoustic solo. Slash solos are amazing but to really learn to solo well learn what position each lick is being played in and figure out how he's connecting all the boxes together. Once you have the boxes figured out put on a jam track and start soloing. Use them licks you learnt from knocking on heavens door or any other songs uv learnt and just play them with different jam tracks in different keys and in different order to mix it up a bit, your ear will tell you what sounds good. brendandoherty9379 thanks for the tips. Haven't really played any slash solos. I'm not new to soloing but new to shredding. I've been working on Nuno bettencourts solo from play with me. I got it down just not up to his speed.
William White m Dude that's awesome, if your into playing solos like that you should start following Claus levin on RUclips, man this guy is an amazing neo classical teacher. Roger Panoz well yeah that's like the hardest song ever, DUH
it's basically a given that a beginner knows it

Haha, right!
You're just a beginner for a very short while,
but then most players are intermediate for ...what? 10, 20, 30 years ; )
When he says for beginners I think he means riffs that teach you valuable skills that you will use throughout your playing not just the easiest riffs that sound cool
Your definition of "beginner" is somehow different from mine.
And mine ....😕
@@TheyfoundRickGrimes im some weeks in why is it sooo hard to play it with pinky finger :(
Mine too 🤦♂️ I’ve been playing for years and I’m not this good

I'd add Vicarious by Tool to the list, gets you used to weird timing and is a relatively easy tool song
i learned to play crazy train hitting the open A string instead of the 5th fret on the low E string. it all works though. 😉
you should get used to working out that pinky tho!
True. Especially just learning to play. Ive seen a few people that taught themselves avoid using there pinky.
Brian Kaiser Yeah, it's all about working on the ring finger and pinky. They're the two weakest digits, the ring finger's tendons are connected to the middle finger so making it operate independently is tough, and some songs like "Born to be Wild" need a real stretch from the pinky.
Also Thunderstruck is a very nice training to the pinky, played this stuff for an hour and feel a little more comfortable with the pinky
