Replace Backlight LEDs on Samsung Curved 55” for $30 (UN55NU7300 / UN55NU7100 dim screen)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 8 дек 2020
- Today, I show how to fix a Samsung TV with dark / dim screen. I have this curved TV where the left side went dark (well, 90% was dark). Went in with some fresh LEDs and it looks better. Would like to share what I learned along the way too.
NOTE: On the burned plexiglass, it's best to sand down / dremel the burned areas until they're gone, and then reinstall it into the TV the same way. The way the plexiglass is made, it's supposed to darken the section closest to the LED and brighten the section away from the LED. It should be installed the same way, not flipped.

IMPORTANT NOTE: On the burned plexiglass at 5:19, it's best to sand down / dremel the burned areas until they're gone, and then reinstall it into the TV the same way. If you do not dremel down the burned areas, TV will appear yellow like at 9:11. The way the plexiglass is made, it's supposed to darken the section closest to the LED and brighten the section away from the LED. Do NOT flip the plexiglass.

The dremel trick might reduce the yellowing of the picture, but the cracks will still show, so it's not worth the effort. Really, the diffuser should be replaced, if it could be found.
I have the UN55HU7200F ( not the NU in the middle like yours ), same backlight as in yours or is it a full array?

@@EdwardInTX I have the Samsung UN55NU7300FXZA. As with your's in the video, my plexiglass is cracked and the inner white panel next to it had LED heat damage. Smelled, LOL!!! I got it fixed and it is watchable but the cracks and heat damage do show on the bottom. Can those parts be found at a reasonable cost. Now that I know how, it'd be an easier task. Best advice I can give to others about doing your own repair is to have and use patience and a small and thin straight blade screw driver to remove the white inner frame and twist at the tabs just enough to clear the lock points. My only left over parts were the few I broke and then thought about the smaller screw driver and that worked. But I also slowed down the process. Great video. Thanks Edward.
You really oughta add to the video itself about this. No one is going to look at the comments until after they have problems from following your advice. You can add audio, video or just captions but you're garnering a lot of ill will by leaving it up as is.
Thanks a lot for you and all the other youtubers. I managed to watch these videos and fix my TV for just 1/10th of the repair cost.
Most detailed and comprehensive tv repair vlog I've ever seen, there isn't anything better than this, more power to you my friend.
Thank you!
I took mine for repairs and they told me it’s the screen so I returned it back home… Thank you very much 🙏 now I can fix mine💪🙏🙏
We followed your guide and were able to fix the tv so that it was watchable again but it was far more difficult for us noobs than it seemed in the video. Many of the little plastic tabs broke and a small chunk of the bezel broke, etc. The one issue that we have now is that when we turned it back on and could see the screen, the picture looks like its being viewed on say.. something like cardboard or some other sort of material and on the far right side, there's an inch where the picture stops instead of going to full side. We obviously messed something up in putting it back together and the two that helped aren't interested in repeating the pull apart process because it was such a hassle for us. No matter what though, the good news is that the process you demonstrated worked and we can now see the full screen. Whatever caused the other issues was something we somehow did. Thank you for the video.
I used your tutorial on my flat screen Samsung UN50NU7200. The components are exactly the same, except it doesn't have the white tabs securing the metal strip. Unfortunately, I hadn't read your comment about the plexiglass orientation and that dark-on-bottom/light-on-top thing, so I'll be re-doing it tomorrow. For now, the light strips are working great. Thank you so very much for a great video!
Awesome! Hope the reinstall goes well!
This walkthru guided me thru the entire process on a 7100fxza that was given to me for free! It is working good as new! 🙌🙏 Thank you SO much!
woohoo!
Fixed the family TV and saved 70% of the TV's cost (what their asking for repairs) THANKS!!!
Hey, thanks a lot for the guide. Based on your video I successfully repaired slightly different model (6 series instead of 7). While there were some differences your video was a great start.
Now I just hope those "original" led strips from AliExpress won't die after 2 weeks
Very nice! I've done a handful of 6 series the same way!
Few tips for anybody giving it a go:
1) when you get to remove the LCD panel I found if you very carefully slide a bed sheet) or something similar) under the panel you can easily slide the panel from the base without damaging it.
2) tape the 2 white sheets under the (LCD Panel) together so you don’t lose their orientation/order.
3)do the same for the plexiglass and white backing as it is KEY this goes in the correct way or light will not amit correctly.
4) make sure the white frame clips securing the felxiglass are fixed in correctly. (I made this mistake and I had a lot of LED bleed along the bottom edge just from 2 clips not in correctly)
5) if you put it all back together and the bottom of the screen is very light and top very dim. Your Felxiglass is upside down. Unfortunately you have to take it all apart again and turn it so the top edge is at the bottom. Trust me it a lot easier to take apart the second time. ( you can also plug the tv in with just the plexiglass clipped in to see if the light is covering the entire panel. Instead of reassembling the whole tv to find it's not).
But Thanks Man what a helpful video! Wouldn’t have tried doing this myself if I didn’t watch it and now have a good as new working TV!
Excellent tips!
I'm having the opposite effect of the bottom portion being bright but the the middle and top being very dim.
I did this repair and everything went well following your instructions. I also had a crack in my plexiglass but unfortunately flipping it around created a big shadowed area in upper portion of the screen. Just had to install it the way it was and all is well!! Thank you very much for this video!! 👏🙏
Awesome!!
Because maybe yours contain mirror sheet and u didnt flip the mirror sheet that reflect light some of those have this type of sheet that u must flip them

hi can you share to where i can buy LED strips fir Samsung TV 55inch curved model UA55H6800? please share the link online shop 🙏. i am from Indonesia difficult to get that part localy 🙏
Hi Edward i changed the backlight and everything is ok except there is a bright spot in the middle bottom abit...what is the possible causes ya?
This is useful stuff. I always wondered how to fix screens like this
Now YOU can do it!
Fantastic video - thanks! My son and I had a great afternoon project and the TV is working beautifully. Had a minor panic when we turned it on and the screen was black. Realised we hadn’t connected the ribbon cables correctly so pulled it apart and reseated them. That fixed it and our heart rates returned to normal
very cool!
I'm having the black screen issue as well but reseating the ribbon cable hasn't fixed it.
@@reallaknight503If the screen is black then it means that the signal isn't getting from the board to the screen. I'd double check the seating of the ribbon cable, I found it a little tricky to get it seated right. If that still doesn't work, check the other end of the cable and if that still doesn't work, check to see that there's power getting to the boards.
Same problem with my tv thank you for your video
Good luck with the fix!

Thanks very much, I used this video to fix my own issue, sadly, as careful as I tried to be I cracked the screen. Knew it was over but decided to carry on anyway. Anyone thinking about doing this, please be so careful. I barely moved the screen and it cracked. On the bright side I've just ordered a 70 inch ambient light Philips. 😁

Are the backlight LEDs for ue55nu7100k and ue55nu7100 the same?
Great video, unfortunately I haven’t made it past the fifth minute I have already crack the panel really badly which is a shame I was really excited to fix this tv since I liked it more than the replacement they sent me. It is a great tv such a shame that it breaks just by looking at it.
Can you pls tell me if my model is au55nu7300g. can i use au55nu7300k backlight??
Near my entertainment center I have always kept a filtered 12x12 box fan , I've never had anything ever go out on me because of this .
Started when I was young I got to have my box fan near me and as I learned heat was the main failure of electronics and noticable heat coming from tv, computer, Xbox and or surround sound.
So I’m following your video up to the point where you have to remove the cover source PCB panel at 2:45 and there is no white hooks. What do I do? I’m using a NU7100 50inch

Very cool!
They also burn and damage the Diffusers .
I repaired a same 55 Samsung tv like this but i has light bleeding like your tv, you said the problem is the position of tge first white paper.how should i do it on the first white paper to fix light bleeding in the bottom ?
Actually I realized it's because of the transparent plexiglass. The best way is to dremel off the burned parts of it and put it back in the same way.
Please what steps should I follow to fix my 55 nu7300 it has a problem with backlight going very dark when I am watching any dark scenes
same as i show in this video
Very good video, but I have had a problem, trying to disassemble it the panel had cracked and I cannot find the replacement. any help to find it? Thank you!
500 minimum in Canada...prob around 400 if you're lucky in the states...better off buying a new TV...there's a profitable reason why these fuckwad manufacturers make the main screen so fragile!
Excellent Video! Thank you for posting!! Let me ask you this.... Why is it that just about everything Samsung makes, turns out to be absolute crap!?? We purchased all new higher end Samsung black stainless appliances in 2018. In the first year the microwave failed twice. The oven part of the range failed twice, the fridge ice maker froze over daily and stopped producing ice. The metal finish is so thin that it dents with almost no pressure. Now our 2 year old 75" OLED backlight has failed on the right side. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER SAMSUNG PRODUCT EVER AGAIN.
Wow this is terrible! I have a samsung microwave and range and they haven't failed (knock on wood)
Dude, I want that couch! LOL
This was super helpful, however I had 2 issues. In taking off the black front enclosure I snapped two clips because I started on the bottom. Starting on the sides and top seems to make the bottom clips easier to get out.
Second, there was some burn on the inside, so I rotated things like you mentioned, but now the bottom of the screen is extremely bright compared to the top. I don't want to take the screen apart more than once more because of the aforementioned snapped clips, so I need to figure out whether I need to push all the interior panels and sheets as far to the bottom as possible (they oddly don't all fit exactly with the screen size by a few millimetres and may not be sitting flush with the bottom, which might be the issue) or I need to just put things back like they were with the slightly burned panel (might see if I can clean off some of the brown, as the burn isn't as bad as yours). Any ideas?
On number 2, you are correct. I pinned my other comment hoping people would see it. On the burned plexiglass, I've found it's best to sand down / dremel the burned areas until they're gone, and then reinstall it into the TV the same way. The way the plexiglass is made, it's supposed to darken the section closest to the LED and brighten the section away from the LED. It should be installed the same way, not flipped.
@@EdwardInTX You should add this info you the video description. I looked there before I looked at the comments, but I didn't see which ever one you pinned.

how easily is to break the glass panel? I have to change the LEDs of mine but im scared ill break the glass. And sending it to repair its really expensive
it's quite easy. You have to keep it as flat as you can as I show in this video
What is the correct position for the bottom sheet to prevent the backlight bleed?
The same way it was taken out. Dremel or shave off any yellowing areas
Thank you for this video.
Great video. I have one now that needs the repair. Could I put do anything such as adding thermal paste to help prevent over heating again?
Some people mention adding a capacitor to regulate the LEDs but I’m not that advanced

thanks for showing the led strip change. do you suggest to fix the vertical shadow on the screen by changing the led strip ? will it help? Also could you pls suggest the led strip for the curved samsung UN55KU7500 model.
Yes, you'd need to change the LED strip to fix the vertical shadow. This is for the KU7500, but the led strip installation process will look different from the video as the LED are scattered across the screen. www.ebay.com/itm/154951141781?hash=item2413cec995%3Ag%3AeFcAAOSwLateeccK&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAkMSl1Ks%2BPSe9V5Ol0qrJlK02c0N1Sxp5csU25%2BxOlb9DWYDGpJqQ9wH%2FylpV9uLs8T5yJCVE27ttIBryoHdMYyBFYscUxyHiyEetpCtle5YQ6X0ephVN92y84wjrQWArBvV6Xx%2B5MKh4FpNztva0GIMzJ%2Bhld8ana9B8Ko9bJAOQYel%2FuHkiMZCPfX2AExF4Ow%3D%3D&mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&siteid=0&campid=5338782093&customid=&toolid=10001&mkevt=1
Did repositioning that paper help with the back light bleed? I have the same issue after replacing the LEDs. I hate opening up this TV lol
The burnt panel had to be installed the same way it came out. Can't flip it. The trick with that panel is the burned areas need to be completely dremeled off.
Hi , I have a little white dot on my samsung tv UE55HU7250 , can you guys give some tips to fix the problem please ?
Oooh that one uses many more LED strips than this model. It could be a panel defect or one LED bulb is out.
I really wish you showed how to safely move the lcd panel instead of transition to it being done. My brother and I were on the last step of moving the lcd panel back in place with a team lift, only for the screen to crack in the same corner I replaced the broken leds. Now instead of half a screen being black, I have about %96 a screen with a crack in the corner.
How did you move the lcd panel multiple times as one guy without cracking it?
Exactly. My new LEDs are working great, but now the tv is trash because somehow I got a crack through the screen. Tv is trash. I was trying to be so careful and didn't even realize I got crack until I got it all put back together and turned it back on.
I have a cracked and burnt plexiglass just like in your video. Mine is a little worse, but do you know if you can get just the plexiglass? I am not having luck finding. Even Samsung does not have for resale to the end user and no techs within 200 miles
Larry I feel you, man! I've fixed ten Samsung's with edge lighting all with the same problem. I've spent multiple hours looking for a way to purchase the plexiglass diffusor. Still can't find a place so I have to swap them with ones I find from broken screen TVs. Did you ever find a place?
I have backlights, but purple and greenish vertical pixels all over it.?
Any tips?
I'm not an expert in this, but it might be a t con ribbon connection, or the main board (if the screen is not cracked)
Hey thanks for the walkthrough. I followed your directions and I’m ecstatic that it fixed the issue, but now I have a bad backlight bleed like you described towards the end of your video. I remember I flipped it upside down with the plexiglass. If I disassemble everything, and flip the white sheet back the way it was and leave the plexiglass, will it fix the backlight bleed? Thanks.
Yes, with the caveat being the paper has to be really flat to even the light out properly (caveat: the curved tvs are much harder to straighten than that flat panel)
Thanks, I have it apart again and I can’t tell if I have it right and I really don’t want to take it a part again. lol

9:18 - 9:26 show the main board (green) and power board (brown). Those are the two main ones. If either of those don't fix it, there's a deeper problem in the panel that isn't worth fixing.

yes it should!
great video! but one question: whn you place the lcd panel on the sofa, isnt there any issues regarding dust and so on? which will be stuck no inside the TV?
To my surprise nope!
Quick question, are the ribbon cables supposed to go on top or under the pins?
The pins should be touching each other. There are two very little tabs on each side of the part the ribbon cable goes into. Slide it in so they are under those tiny tabs, and pins are facing down. If that doesn't answer your question, I don't quite understand what you are asking.
