Really helpful video. My 65 inch tv got one half of the screen darker than other. It was really good to watch how disassemble TV before doing it. So, one evening + LED strips from Ali have fixed the problem. I just replaced strips instead of removing the whole heatsink.
I have a un65au8000fxza with half the screen not working and it won't even turn on at all. What is the part number for the 65" tv for the led strip replacements?

I have a Samsung tv model UN49M5300AF that had a bad LED strip, so I boughted the whole set by mail but the carrier bent the package to fitted in the mail box. I managed to save 2 strip but when finish to install them all the lights are just blinking, What I did wrong? I also forgot the order in which the two plastic sheets are going in reference to the screen and the sides too. Your help will be greatly appreciated. Respectfully yours, Wilberto Gonzalez

Can you remove the backlight from the old heatsink? I will attempt to do that since you can purchase the backlight for around $30 online, without the heatsink. Has anyone reused the heatsink? It doesnt look molded to the LED strip, i figure i can pull out the old LED strip and stuff in the new one with the existing sheild : UPDATE: someone did remove the strip without the shield, a lot of carving but it was done: ruclips.net/video/d9Lj1GMuAPA/видео.htmlsi=cG-LOiSk_TAqp6lD

It's pretty easy, you just need to use hot air and a cutter.
Step one. Skip the screws... pry it all open
