Well done once again Nedzo. I think you’ve confused Jo Bonnier with John Wolfe, Wolfe was killed in his privately entered 917 at Masion Blanche in ‘69 on the first lap haven’t done up his seatbelts-same race Ickx walked across the start and did up his belts in his gulf/wyer gt40. Bonnier was killed in ‘72 in the early hours of the morning when his private Lola collided with a gt Ferrari 365gtb/4 and was sent over the Armco into the woods shortly before Indianapolis corner. Other then that, spot on
What's interesting is that besides Matra and Ferrari all constructors champions came from the UK (or rather with cars manufacured in the UK). Till this day the UK is the home of Formula 1. And before someone says "What about Alfa Romeo" the constructors title has been only awarded since 1958 ;)
@@nedzosf1gridbox i wonder why. almost like they were winning everything!!! Surely they werent immediately complaining when they started sucking this season (they did)
Apparently, the '60s was the last decade when a (technically savvy) driver with win his own car can win a race, even championship.F1 had become more specialized after that.
I think it's probably as much the cost of going racing as anything else. In an age where they reckon you need $600m to even get a team on the grid, which driver can afford it? I'm not even sure Lewis has that laying around.
Speaking on unique suffexes Americans usually use their State for it. I was born in New York and live in North Carolina which for both New Yorker or Carolinian are def unique ones
Regarding the Netherlands...did Count Carel Godin de Beaufort's privately entered Porsche, painted in Dutch orange colour, count as an F1 team for the country?
@@Rhubba no, once you have non-privateer legitimate constructor, all privateers are nullified. So for example if Tyrrell was to go bust after 1969 they wouldn’t have even been considered over any other British entry

@nedzosf1gridbox They've actually had less success tbh. Fewer titles and wins and from 2019-20 Williams only scored 1 point thanks to penalties. Every other country is bang on though more or less.
@@nedzosf1gridbox Yes I am. And I know you didn't explicitly say that. Its still pretty funny. Because I don't think Audi would have done that... even though they allowed him to start.
Saying that no Irish driver has had success is a little harsh - Eddie Irvine did drive under an Irish license occasionally; he'd essentially get his licence from whichever country charged least for it that year. I'm fairly sure John Watson did the same.
Disagree on Mercedes 4 year engine head start all the teams had the same blue print it is what it is. @@nedzosf1gridbox still though it's on the other engine suppliers for being so lax. Look at the 17-19 Ferrari engine we'll mainly 18 and onwards and Honda under Red Bull. It shows the lost potential of those teams especially in 2015 when Vettel was easily up there with Lewis.
Yeh Ferrari and Italy *are F1* and tbh even with their droughts they are still *always* a top team (2020 and some other years being the exception), its rare they dont win at least 1 race during a season, heck even in 2023 Sainz got that Singapore master class Compare them with the likes of other powerhouses like Williams and Mcclaren and they have much bigger swings and less consistency and arguably they will/would always be less political to shit in the actual perf but even still they are nowhere near Ferrari
Ferrari have had very long periods of poor results and historically always were strongest when the team had a mixture of nationalities in key positions. During the Max Mosley FIA era the rules were distorted in favour of Ferrari and Schumacher and against Ron Dennis (who Mosley hated) and Lewis Hamilton guilty of winning while black.
@andrewwmacfadyen6958 because famously Schumacher raced against Hamilton while he was at Ferrari. Also I’m pretty sure if the FIA were really racist they wouldn’t have let a black person become the most successful driver in history
