Mine used to sound amazing like yours until it got defected in SA (for being 2cm too low) so it then had to pass emissions legally and basically go back to stock with a very mild cam.... so I'll just enjoy this video and miss how mine sounded. I had a custom exhaust and quad tip set-up but I full on cracked it with Vehicle Standards and took it all off now just a dual exhaust quiet SS. I'm still waiting for the defect to be cleared 6 months later....
I had an EPA test required on this. I basically put a standard SS exhaust on, filled it to the brim with steel wool and it BARELY passed, 95db at 3200RPM. But the tester allowed it to go through, as it was 'close enough'

I remember the vx hsv gts/gtsr that Jeremy Clarkson reviewed in one of his videos in 99 in the uk, looks a bit like the Vauxhall omega of the time with the ls1 5.7 v8, I believe the gts had 340 bhp and the gtsr had 410 bhp. Nice cars, but the vxr8 is in a different league.
My cammed VY LS1 uses 25L per 100km around town and 18L per 100km on highway through an A4 with 3200 convertor and 3.73 diff gear using ULP98 of course. and driving normally not aggresive.
@@AndrewMitchell001that's huge fuel usage. My VY HSV manual at 100kph averages 8.4Ltrs/100Kph. It's as far as I know stock 285Kw twin 3" no cats. Just headers and tail muffler after the diff. Was thinking about a Cam and ITBs for it. But if the fuel economy is completely lost, I might reconsider
Hey mate, The cam, OTR & maf removal, exhaust & cats + an underdrive kit matched up with the t56 was all it needed. It had a full twin 3" exhaust, large pacemaker extractors and I think 100 cell cats which were also 3" It had little to no restriction, with the manual; these figures were verified on two different dynos as well.
@@RicksWorld91just researching as after 11yrs with my 04 VY HSV Clubsport manual was thinking of a new Cam, and ITB's. What is needed to remove the MAF, to replace with Map if I was to go that route
Depends where you live. I have a car down here in the Eastern Suburbs of VIC that I use for all my mechanical works, and he is very competitively priced and quick too.
@@trueaussie3097 Fuk off and the rest champ just the cam and springs is about 1200ish to buy then you need to do lifters trunion upgrade because the stock trunions are weak and full of needle bearings new set of LS7 lifters timing gear and chain new high flow oil pump. i got mine all done with a freshen up for 4500 bucks in 2019 and thats without a tune. so add another 900 bucks for a tune.

Yeah it was a lovely car to drive and always turned heads. Sold it at the peak of their prices and bought my xr50 turbo.
Because it ain't a real SS mate, and yeah it ain't authentic but still is cool to see and hear

@@RicksWorld91 in SA it has to be under 90... By the app I got to get a rough idea I think it got to 87. I have a feeling it won't pass unfortunately

What fuel economy are you getting with this size cam?
I was averaging roughly 250km per tank of 98 octane.
