Tyranids are one of the few factions that can look great with just 3 colours. They are actually a very beginner friendly army to paint because of that. The task overall is way more dounting as it actually is, but it may take time to realasie that, because of the sheer number and complexity of the models. And tyranids still provide a amazing cavnvis if you want to go absolutly nutz, for example painting them akin to real life bugs. Tyranids can make almost every color combination work. This video of yours enapsulates this ups and downs of tyranid painting perfectly. Kudos!
Mine are also xenomorph themed. 6k points painted so far! I buffed on an iridescent paint from hobby lobby for the blue effect. I like seeing other people's takes on the xenomorph scheme.
I did something like this when I was painting some genestealers a few years ago. For mine I derived inspiration from LesterBursleyMiniatures who pointed out that there's a lot of metallic on xenomorphs- or at least I think he said that, my brain might be making shit up. Anyhow, iirc he painted the teeth in particular a sort of gunmetal/white-metal and I think used it in a few other places. When I painted my genestealers I used black primer, of course, and drybrushed them with silver while picking out certain details to be fully metallic. I'm pretty sure I didn't do a good job at drybrushing them, because there was too much on my brush, but I thought the results were very promising. I think I gloss varnished them after, too. I suppose I should mention that I was basing them off the 'Big Chap' from the first movie primarily. Also, not trying to be a weenie or anything, but I did want to say that Giger's name was pronounced "Gee-ger" rather than "Guy-ger". I used to say it the same way you do in this video until I met a guy who had the same last name, and then found out that H.R. Giger's name was pronounced the same way.
I also ended up going for a xenomorph scheme. Still finding my feet with it, but 80 Gaunts later a base of black followed by some lighter drybrushes and a lovely glossy skull has my OCD very pleased :P

These look really good. You might have just saved my own Tyranids from getting pushed aside.
