Yeah I always call her "Bra". Just feels more natural to me since I've been doing so for almost 30 years. Toriyama uses gags to name his characters so im used to it.
I imagined they didn't sensor it, but misheard it as r and l often replace each other in translations. They probably heard Bla and spelled it as Bulla.

In reality her name is "bura" cause you see you might have listened carefully to the voice of the characters (in japanese) of anime when they try to speak english so there pronunciation is kind of funny it's because when they speak any word having "L" in it they pronounce it as "R" and if there is "ER/ AR" most of the time it's pronounced as "A" for example in English it's Star Platinum but in Japanese it's Suta Purachina. So, this why her name in English is Bulla and in Japanese it's Bura/Bra
You're close but it's not exactly an L sound. The L sound comes from putting your tongue against your teeth and the Japanese R sound comes from putting your tongue against the ridge on the roof of the mouth.

They should have called her Kini or something. It would match with Trunks being named more after swimwear than underwear.

Trunks only has the hair and eyes of Bulma's familiy. The rest of him including his whole face is pure Royal sayan. His body Is tall, thin and muscular just like Is grandpa King Vegeta, also he has a big forehead, big eyebrowns and a cold stare just like his father.

Trunks is such a good compromise for Vegeta and Bulma, Trunks is a traditional Saiyan name if you interpret it as tree trunk but it also follows Bulma’s family’s naming tradition.

In Brasil she is called Bra, we were very, very fickle when it came to adapt source material to dub even to the point that the Suffix "Sama" is used to Kami, Kami-Sama.
DB is still one Paragon Dubs around here together with Yu-yu-Hakusho and the Redub of Saint Seiya, even though is not a dub you cover for obvious reasons still worth check it out for some interesting trivia.

I'm pretty sure the games called her Bulla, not that she's in many. My guess is because she showed up so little you probably just didn't internalize what the dub called her when you were younger and just went with what you saw later.
