  • this is a video of the firemen and emt.. strapping me down to a gurney and tying me up with handcuffs on the gurney after having 25 seizures because I was out of out and confused and scared after I woke up not realizing I had just had a seizure the staff obviously didn't know how to handle a seizure patient and treated me like I was dirt and like I did something wrong. I told my boyfriend and family to never ever call an ambulance again. I'd rather them drive me then ever have to wake up in an ambulance tied down scared handcuffed to the gurney treating me like I did something wrong when all I needed was help for being sick. I hope this never happens to someone you love. they should learn the number one rule of dealing with a seizure patient NEVER EVER RESTRAIN SOMEONE WHO JUST HAD A SEIZURE!!!!!

    Yeah if someone has a seizure you're meant to keep them calm and not restrain the-most leave them be and if need be put them in the recovery position afterwards.
    Hope this person is okay

    Absolutely disgraceful. They deserve jail time. Also because that they have done this to me in physical rehab after being in a induced coma for status epilepticus and i was restrained to a bed or chair or against a wall for 24 hours non stop i couldn't even turn in bed to be comfortable and sleep. Lots of pressure sores. Don't ever ever! do this to someone with epilepsy.

    On top of the patient being restrained when she shouldn’t be why did they video this and upload it to the internet? Also I can almost see her privates too! Just imagine if someone posted you going through a hard time in your life and your hoo haah is showing! I feel so bad for this poor woman I hope she gets justice for what they did to her!

    Oh hell no! As a WIFE of a epileptic husband and been told by MANY DOCTORS "NEUROLOGISTS" NOT to restrain him while hes seizing! That could cause them more harm! Police have done that to him in the past and caused him to tear his rotator cuffs and hed wake up in a jail cell with charges on disturbing the peace! This is just sickening! Restrain my husband and im going to catch some charges! 😭

      It was very scary . I have cluster grand mal seizures also known as clinic tonic . This day I had 15 in a row. I was out of it and unconcious when they came. When I came to it I didn't know or remember that I had just had 15 seizures and I was scared and confused why these strange men were holding and tyeing me down . It was wrong and not right protocol for emts. They didn't know what to do with a seizure patient and I could have had more seizures on the ambulance and broken bones .

      They do 😆 this is everything u are not supposed to do when someone has a seizure. They should have transported me with a medical blanket . I had seizures when I was restrained in the ambulance and I could have broken my bones . This is so unprofessional and scary that when u call medical assistance or 911 they can actually hurt u more than help u . Now my family and I are scared to call for help in fear they will make it worse .

    i have seizures and i am an emt. sounds weird i know right. but you were being restrained with seizure pads…we are required todo that on a bed or stretcher so you don’t break your skull or arms or such…only complaint i have is they needed to get you moved a lot quicker.

    You are not to restrain the person having a seizure' your just to stay with the person and make sure there is nothing beside them that could hurt them !!!! I have epilepsy all my life had surgery done i'am now 63 year's of age you do more harm than good when you restrain the person so who ever is doing that video is not helping that person your leveing them worce and putting there life in danger

      @@Epilepsywarrior000 Sucks, doesn't it? I have woke up in a hospital bed strapped down in a padded bed. I do better when they are non-convulsive but then the police think I am drunk, I even turn into a smart-a-s. Part of the problem is that while they are jerking me around, the clock is ticking. Status Epilepticus is epilepsy on steroids'. It is deadly and has already caused me brain damage.

      I know everything you are experiencing . We have the same type of epilepsy. Mine is in me left temporal lobe and started in 2017 after a head Injury. I wake up in the hospital very combative because I have no idea I just had 11 seizures and there are all the weird new people around me and then ivs all over me. This time I checked out against medical orders but I don't remember any of it . I have woken up in the hospital and not remembered family members or even myself . Or has effected my memory as well . They just upped my medicine to 400 mg lamictal . I went almost a year seizure free but a week before it would have been a year I had the 11 seizures . It's not cool cops and emts and some medical staff don't know how to treat epilepsy patients and misunderstand them

    I'm confused. Why would you ever want to restrain a seizure patient?

    • @austinlinco
      @austinlinco 4 месяца назад +1

      Coming from an EMT, several (although not ideal):
      - Patient was combative before seizures were induced (such as this video).
      - Properly securing the patient for transport on the stretcher.
      - Keep head & body away from objects or potentially falling off the cot.
      Of course, it’s unclear whether what they were doing was against their standards of care without further context. It’s always important for prehospital medical professionals to follow their local protocols. Regardless, the video, by itself, still looks pretty bad.
