I knew a girl at this treatment center I was at who overdosed and as a result from that had seizures and sometimes she would wake up looking for the color green and just really delusional... I would always help her through her seizures by making sure she didn’t hit her head on anything and putting my hand under her head or sometimes holding her hand that way when she wakes up she’s not just confused and by herself and she would help me through my extreme panic attacks
I agree with you talking to the patient and trying to alleviate concerns is the best method and should be used first. But if that doesn't work you have to stop the patient from harming themselves or potentially harming someone else. You escalate slowly unless it's a really dangerous situation to where you have no choice for safety reasons
I had a similar experience happened to me. Thank goodness I wasn't restrained restrained. So I got really really sick and it made my muscles really weak I'm used to being independent and I was a fall risk. I would try to get up on my own and my caregiver was with me the whole time. My bedside nurse at the time was talking to her and but she has said that they might have to end up using some form of restrained otherwise I'm going to fall. My caregiver is from Lebanon this will come in later. But my caregiver is like no there's no need to do that we do not have to do that and the nurse asked if she had any other ideas to keep me I'm getting up. And my caregiver said that she has an oud aka Middle Eastern guitar that she's been meaning to give to me in her car and she would take the time out of the day to teach me how to do it and the teach me from Eastern songs and if for some reason that didn't work she would keep me busy by helping me work on my Arabic which always works. My bedside nurse agreed to see if these two would work and lo and behold they did. First we spent a couple of hours working on my Arabic then she gave me my present and I with learning how to play it from her. They would get me up to go walk at least 4 times a day sometimes more but whenever I couldn't go walk I would just play my instrument. I was in there for about a month and after the second week of being in there I got to the point where I could play bear Spritz and adoption two of our songs in our Eastern Community every time I played my instrument or every time we worked on my Arabic getting out of bed was the last thing on my mind I went from being the patient that would try to get out of bed tell the patient who would be playing Eastern music for the nurses since I go in there every 6 months to a year one of the nurses always refer to me as the Mediterranean Music Man
I remember don't in hospital for cancer, I got stuck in a bed in a ward overnight waiting for transfer to the haemotology ward. I can't Remember what type of ward it was but the person next to me had lines in her and he kept pulling them out, he could have bled to death but it does consume the time of nursing staff. I remember the doctor and a couple of nurses coming in and restraining. They made sure he couldn't reach the lines to pull them out He was tied down hand and foot to the bed. I think he may have been mentally unstable hence the need to be restrained
I’ve needed to be restrained once before when I had my first seizure. When I came out of the coma after 4 days. I started swinging because I was scared not knowing ag all where I was and hit 2 or 3 people where security was called to help hold me down to get them on. I wasn’t charged with anything because of the situation my mind and brain was in it was very scary
That's why we need restraints - so that people would not hurt each other. And restraints should be really tight so that a person wouldn't be able to move around too much. Especially with girls - they will have more panic while restrained and will put more efforts to get out - so for them ties should be strong
Lacking of staff is what causes this. I’ve screamed my head off after being left in restraints. No one likes being left like that. I always appreciated a shot to sleep.
Her saying i wanna go home made me think of the song 😂 But I wanna go home I've got to go home Let me go home I'm just too far From where you are I wanna come home And I feel just like I'm living someone else's life It's like I just stepped outside When everything was going right
These are the mental hospitals that should exist like these ones are so nice and kind the other ones are horrible and mean and dull I mean these ones have barely no color but there atleast a brighter color the old ones used to be black and all horrible these ones are nice
Keeping someone against their will is false imprisonment. After she said: "I want to go home" she should have been given the chance to discharge and leave. This is a disgraceful training video
@@deadtrash7478so that patient will behave well. Especially it applies on young females due to their energy, emotions and unpredictability - and those restraints need to be tight so that after various operations girls wouldn't hurt themselves or anybody around them due to panic attacks
bablu yea they can’t actually tie me down physically unless I’m in SERIOUS danger and I mean SERIOUS because I have a phobia of being tied down and I’ll get panic attacks and stuff.
So this is the restraint this is to ensure that they don't move like to places they don't need to be. They are still able to do basic things like scratching their face and moving around kind of the way you can tighten it is the doctor will leave it loose for a little bit and tighten it whenever like it's needed. But usually it's still not going to like be difficult to use
This looks like an example or educational. The female must be an actress who volunteered to show what her rights were. But I can’t figure out what’s wrong with her. I don’t know if it’s even medical.
Beligerent? Wow, it seems in this case like restraints were only used because the nurses were getting annoyed and didn't feel like doing their job. I hope the school didn't actually condone this.
If you need someone to be a little more convincing, have me be the patient 😂🤣😂🤣😂. I'm a real life dialysis patient and I also know how to be a pain in the ass if I don't really like somebody. I could be a much more convincing patient than this young nursing student. She thinks she knows how to be a troublesome patient 😂😂😂
I’ve been to many psych hospitals and on many 1:1s (basically have my own staff because I was high suicide risk) so I would be great at this lmao also I’m sorry to hear you are on dialysis... hope you’re doing better now!
If a person is a risk to endangering others I understand restraints are nessacary as a LAST resort after all de-escalation tactics are used. But if its just because they are at risk of falling, harming themselves, refusing treatment, etc I don't think it should be allowed - everyone has free will, if someone understands they may fall and chooses to get up anyways you can help convince them not to, give them things to do so they won't want to get up but if they do anyways that's on them, no one should have their free will stripped. Same thing goes for a patient trying to leave, forced medical intervention is UNETHICAL.
This not a good video of restraining they should put some combat situation in the scene because nurse think that the psychiatrist technician or mental health technician job just restraining it is not and plus where the 4 points at yu should talk before restraining a patient
That or there should have been a nurse or orderly sitting at her bank making sure she didn't come and get out of bed that's a total waste of time and resources and completely unnecessary

Restraints aren't necessary this is called hospital laziness regardless of public opinion
I really appreciated the insights this instructional video provided. The nurses and doctor make a great team.

Use of tech that is.

Tiring someone up is rape or harming the person
So do they only put restraints on u if ur messing around in the bed/hospital or something???
in reality they actually use them a lot :(

The guy that she called was across the room why couldn’t she just talk to him
