Got to say, either every woman who became a witch was a model, or Duma grants a sexy buff to his witches. Like even the least sexy witch, Nuibaba, is still very attractive with a huge rack. That or men really changed poorly while serving Duma. Like compare Marla and Hestia to Jedah, or Nuibaba and other witches to every named male serving Duma. Duma really be doing his men dirty.
@@DaniDoyleIt’s sort of a fun idea, because of what Rinea is vs what being a “Vestal” really means. Vestal is a Roman goddess, whose sphere of influence is a sacred flame hearth, a place for people to gather and to come together as friends and family. Rinea is a kind woman who is used and discarded by a man for power, which could be seen as removing her purity as a “vestal” and transforming her into a Witch with a Vestal’s appearance. She is the twisting of the idea of the sacred warmth of kindness, into a fire that destroys Berkut’s enemies. In short: Rinea deserved better and Berkut deserves another kick in the nads.
@@heartlyght7422 You’re close, but there a few things wrong. The Roman Goddess of the Hearth was named Vesta, and is the Roman counterpart to Hestia. What you’re thinking of with the word Vestal are the Vestal Virgins, 6 priestesses who keep the hearth going, were removed from their ties to their family, and took vows of chastity. But I can see where you’re going with your idea. Considering the fact that Rinea and Berkut probably didn’t consummate their marriage, him killing and selling her soul would definitely count as “defiling her”. It’s painfully ironic that a “vestal virgin” would turn into the fire she would normally be tending to, but also using it for destruction instead of for family. She definitely deserved better, the fact Berkut goes from loving her, to then telling her to shut up when he lost a second time, to finally killing her showed how far he fell. Honestly, considering how she is, she probably would’ve made a fantastic wife to Alm if she somehow wasn’t sacrificed.
In FE2, player and enemy classes share class IDs, with what class they are dependent on their affiliation. For example, Saint and Bonewalker shares the same ID; player units are Saints and enemy units are Bonewalkers. Mage and Witch share the same ID; as such, Delthea and Sonya have no other class to use as enemy units. Witches also seem to have some of their personality or free will, but it seems only to an extent that they can still get their job done. It's more present in Marla and Hestia's dialogue in Heroes, where they are pretty free to follow Kiran's orders and talk quite a bit, including Hestia about her regret, but both mention that this is only if Duma doesn't issue a contrary order. Nuibaba in particular didn't give her soul to Duma, but Medusa, and while the terms aren't explicitly stated, it seems that Nuibaba isn't nearly as constrained as Duma's witches. Nuibaba is mentioned to be sacrificing other women to Medusa; Medusa may be forcing or manipulating Nuibaba to do so, and while this is ambiguous it is pretty clear that she's free to call on Medusa's power to destroy her enemies. Another thing about Witches, specifically Vestals, is that the game can't seem to decide if they're full-on Terrors or not. Since Vestals only spawn in Act 6 (to avoid spoilers for Act 5 Rinea, as they're just reuse Rinea's battle model), this already throws Duma out of the window. What draws a lot of attention is the affiliation they get assigned when they show up. The rare encounter Vestals in Lost Treescape and Duma Temple have the affiliation of "Unknown", with a symbol of crossed swords. However, the Vestals that appear as reinforcements in the The Creation fight at Thabes B10F have the affiliation of "Terrors" with the symbol of the skull. Interpret that as you wish.
With the power of the estrogen promotion item, we can finally break the class gender barrier and make EVERY unit a pegasus knight! (Congrats though, hope it goes well)
While the witch and dread fighter classes in fates may have hinted to SoV, Dread Fighter was also in Awakening's DLC too, so maybe the hinting went back even farther?
While I don’t think it was executed very well in fates, I do like the idea of witches having skills or gameplay mechanics related to stuff like tonics or healing items, as beyond just magic, witches often have an association with brewing potions and stuff
That's closer to TRS lmao. There, witches are just fanatical cultists who warp in to attack you. It's plainly stated that they're expected to die as a result of such aggressive maneuvers.
I think the Berkut/Rinea story is heavily carried for me thanks to the performance of the voice actors. Also, I'm glad I got to learn about Nuibaba's transition this way, so happy for her.
Warp Azura was so much fun, it was a fun little detour and by the end, it helped me make some really important refreshes possible on maps where my forces are split up. I also have a very distinct memory of my friend and me doing a my castle battle and him explicitly saying “no, warp azura is banned from now on”. I was a baby fire emblem player at the time versus a more veteran player, so it felt good to finally have a strategy that he didn’t think of first.

I had a lot of fun with Witch in Fates. Got one of them from the free DLCs and having a witch be able to warp around helped me through Conquest on Lunatic.
You don't specifically need to reclass azura to get warp, you can also wait until lv35 and use a skill book of it dropped in the witch map It'll take much longer to start using it but let's you have your dancer in every map still
Aw, it's a shame you don't like Berkut and Rinea's story. Don't get me wrong, I respect the opinion (though I'd love to know *why* you don't like it), it's just that Berkut is my favorite antagonist in the series and I found what he did to Rinea to be realy tragic, I dunno if I'd be nearly as invested in Valentia if not for those two Also god witch AI is absurd, I mean Gaiden enemy AI in general is absurd but witches are even more so. Sometimes they won't even attack you they'll just teleport randomly halfway across the map, sometimes even further away from your army
I just find it to be incredibly underdeveloped / unengaging. In general I think SoV's writing is pretty bad, particularly the new stuff added that wasn't in fe2
@@DaniDoyle that's fair enough, I know SoV isn't the most liked game writing-wise so I'm definitely in the minority. I just find its story really engaging outside of the unnecessary misogyny, it just feels like Gaiden but with more personality to me
Sherra/Sierra in Tear Ring Saga is hilarious. From needing to kill the person whose sword prevents him from dying while equipped to the whole concept of just warping wherever you want and smacking whoever you wish. Often without getting countered because she can use Sylphid too and avoid counters. Or the classic Nosferatu tanking, now from any kind of terrain.
If you have the dlc for the fates witch map, you can get a warp scroll that any unit above lvl 35 can use, and also an accessory which is like tinted glasses or something.
Dread fighter was dlc for Awakening too, and honestly I think it’s inclusion in Fates is probably more of an Awakening homage than Gaiden tbh. Especially since it’s a path bonus along with the dark flier class
Fun thing is that the "baba" in Nuibaba sounds a lot like the word for "old woman" in Japanese, so the transing of her gender is kinda just living up to the name. Good for her! also I need the same estrogen she used fr
From what I know I thought dread fighter was a hoshiso class in fates, like how nohr gets dark fliers. The other dlc class was ballistician Edit after checking: yea you get dread figher from link bonuses, ballistician is the only other dlc exclusive class

Echoes was my first Fire Emblem game, and I remember being embarrassed a sexy lady was on my screen whenever I played in my living room 😅 I would’ve been like twelve

RIP, no Tear Ring Saga mention. Not that the witches are much different than Gaiden's anyway. The AI is probably different, but who knows Tear Ring's AI?
When you see something like witches working the same in Shadows of Valentia as Gaiden, that tells you everything you need to know. The developers subscribed to the design philosophy of "No matter how broke something is, don't even consider fixing it." That attitude is what makes me rank Valentia dead last on my FE list. Yeah, it's technically better than Gaiden. But Gaiden was an ambitious and innovative game that was held back by numerous crippling flaws. I respect the effort. But the Valentia team had the gall to take a game that could have benefited heavily from a remake, and release it in almost the same sorry state it was in 20 years prior. The difference in my respect for development process outweighs the pitiful amount of work the Valentia team put into improving the game.

Maybe sonya is the leader of a group of "incomplete" witches that escaped? Maybe in her ending she sacrifices herself to cure the rest?
