I have the 150-450 and it's fantastic, built like a tank and nearly as heavy you certainly know about it after a day at an airshow, can't wait for the new apsc body to come out.
I didn't have so many lenses to shoot with, but I can tell that I love my 100mm macro (old version), and 135 f 2.5, the 70mm limited and the sharpness (very modern) from the the smc_Pentax 50mm f 1.4 vintage lens.
I have to say the Pentax HD 20-40mm Limited lens was my favorite on my Pentax KP. It was an inspiring combo to go out and take pictures that I sadly sold to grow my camera equipment around Fujifilm. However, I have kept a reliable K5 and the Pentax DA* 16-55mm 2.8 for those occasions the weather demands quality and performance.
Hey Li, thanks for the Video :) I know you will come back to Pentax anytime XD
Thanks for another great video. I recently bought a Pentax K-1 which I love (the decision was helped by your reviews) and am currently using a SMC Pentax-FA, F:1:4 50mm with it (from my old Pentax MZ-3 film camera which I have moved over from). I have been commission to take photographs of the workforce in children's centres across Manchester, UK (meetings and them doing their jobs in general as well as perhaps some portraits) which will obviously involve a lot of indoor photography of people in a range of lighting conditions. I also like to do portraits (not in a studio - just out and about). I am not particularly interested in landscape, sports or wildlife photography and like documentary photography and photography that feels intimate. I would really appreciate it if you could recommend a lens.
I use a 28-105 on my KP and I love it. A wonderful combination of a weatherproof FF lens on a high quality APS-C camera.
My Top 5 are in no particular order as follows... 200mm f2.8, 70mm f2.4 limited, 35mm f2.8 limited, 50 A f1.7 and the 15mm f4 limited.
I really like the FA31/F 1.8 limited, and then I guess should be the DA70/2.4. These two lenses are not heavy and size is quit small, you can take these two lenses and take photos a day, you don’t even feel tough to you arm. And the third one, I would say DA* 50-135/F2.8, really nice picture quality, extremely sharp, very impressive.
I take landscape and milky way ,so 11-18 with K70 is enough for me,but I want a normal one recently, then I found your channel !What a good channel!
The da* 200mm f2.8 is underrated i think. The colors are nice, the bookeh wonderfull. Very nice for close up, portraits, even landscape. And quite small. When i walk around in nature, i have this lens on my k5iis and a gr in the pocket for wide angle. Great combo.
The lenses in my collection I like the most are Pentax da* 50-135, love it, the da*55 and the da 70mm and da 35 macro, wish I had the 15mm and the 100mm macro.
100mm macro my most used Pentax lens..
I use and like The Pentax 300 DA star prime a lot, still going after nearly 10 years of continuous use! It’s sharp! And suits my surf and wildlife shots while cycling around with my Kata side slung camera bag! Also yes the 20-40 is nice and is often on the camera as a walk around and landscape lens! I also use the DA 10-17 fisheye a bit when in the bush and travelling. It’s sharp! For sure the 100 mm WR macro is also a well used lens for me with macro work, particularly coupled with the pentax ring flash! I do have the big guy, the 150-450 DFA- it’s good too and my other lens I have is the 15mm LTD which is a small beauty too! I throw the da 1.4 teleconverter on the bigger lenses plus the macro occasionally! Love the Pentax lenses and hope the new DSLR is a ripper camera as my K3 and K3/2 are well worn! ( but still going strong😬)
I use the 31mm limited, the F 50/2.8 macro, and the samyang 135mm f2.
Another great article of yours, thanks a lot!
The 70mm limited and the 100mm macro are probably my two favourite lenses. Other than that I use some manual lenses, I quite like (but aren't practical for most situations and have some optical problems with e.g. coma) like the 50mm f1.7 or the 28mm
I have a lot of old manual lenses 28, 35, 50, 135, 200 k mount that I liked to experiment with. I realy like the 50 f1.7 A from Pentax. Now I am using a lot of Sigma from Pentax like 18-35 f1.8 and 10-20. Liked these so much so I haven't moved to full frame ;) Loved the Nikon, but moved to Pentax. I forgot to mention 70-200 from Sigma, or the 105 macro...
Hi. Can you me which Pentax lens can be used for astrophotography and for potrait, landscape and indoor. Looking forward your reply.
What would you recommend for a ultra wide angle lens? I love landscape photos!
Now,we need DA20-40 review!😂
