One of the rare times the owners aren't the cause of 1000% of the problems which is refreshing
Yeah, there wasn’t really much they could've done. At most they probably should've done more research on how to find a responsible breeder, but otherwise this wasn't really their fault.
@@blueflare3848 It you get a dog, I can't stress how essential it is that you MUST make sure you're getting them from a legitimate place. Not something that you must do "at most", but something that should be your first priority.
@@alexbennet4195 Oh, yeah, of course. If I got a dog from a breeder I would be very careful about who I got it from. I would make sure the breeder lets me see the dogs and the puppies, make sure they show me where the dogs spend most of their time, etc. Meeting in a neutral location is a huge red flag, and the couple should've known better. I just meant that, in terms of training, there was nothing the couple could've really done.
As a person who spent about 4 months in search of where to get my golden retriever for service dog training I couldn't agree more. We asked doctors, other patients, websites, and we visited all the farms before we committed. It's so sad it gets to this level with breeding. I'm ALL shelter for just pet companion purposes but I'm also for specific jobs for specific breeds. People like their breeder just screw up the reputation/purpose of them.
Rule number one when getting a puppy: visit the breeder and see puppies with their parents.
This is like the first family that isn’t trash, like they genuinely tried, they already had safeguards before Victoria’s help,
You can tell they actually really care for their dog
You are so correct
I'm pretty sure there are many people / families who aren't featured on here who do the like when knowing their pet has a behavioral problem that could pose risk to someone's safety.
I love Rusty owners too
@@poppyaje o.o
Nah, I don't think you've been watching long enough to know that this isn't the first family
I love how the owners didn't lose their cool when Bella started to growl, just continued the training in a calm way. And their friend helped very much too! Nice of him to not turn away but actually proceed.
Calmness is a part of Cesar Millan's methods.
I'm screaming over the fact that the "neutral ground" was a field! Can you get any more shady than that?
They probably knew it was shady but they WANTED to buy a cheaper dog. I don't believe they were not aware that they were buying the dog from a puppy mill.
@@afanofgoodvideo Yes, it's all about the money and the dogs have to pay the price!
I went to the breeders house and got to see the whole litter but not the mother because they said it was protective over the babies so is that shady or?
@@zaddy3498 For me it would be too shady... Another thing: If a mother gets too upset if a stranger comes into the same room where the puppies are, then I know that she doesn't even trust her owner and this is another bad sign. So I personally would never buy a puppy from such a place. The first 14 weeks are very, very important for a dog. That's why I want to be sure that my puppy comes from a good place and where the puppy had the possibility to grow up with its mother and the rest of the litter. If the first weeks were not good, then you will probably have a dog with issues all his life.
@@zaddy3498 yes. Steer clear.
"she's gonna have issues, she'll always have issues" well that's a mood
Doggie paxil!
lol I know I was like same
Yeah...a nervous dog will always be nervous. You can work with it, but it will always be there.
lmao samee
Oh geez
This couple is probably one of my favorites so far? I'd love a full episode on them (I really miss those). They strike me as people who were somewhat naive in the past, but have really researched and done their absolute best to do right by the dog they got. They ask the right questions and were somewhat on track with Bella already, they really just needed the expertise of a professional like Victoria. On top of that, this is a highly informative video, both in red flags when it comes to backyard breeders as well as just behavior + training that is different from what we usually see from this channel.
Agreed
Amazon prime video has 3 seasons of full episodes
Also if you get discovery+ then they have all of the seasons of it’s me or the dog!
I wish we had an update. The woman was obviously pregnant and I hope the baby addition went smoothly too.
I really like this couple. They tried really hard and listened and most importantly they loved their pet enough to make changes for her sake.
Good luck to Bella and her family!
Well they listened most of the time. Bella was meant to be on the leash when coming out from the baby gate, but apart from that it was well done.
And they asked good questions.
I agree, have not seen a couple on this show actually listen and take the advice the way they did.
One of the few where there was actually something "wrong" with the dog. Instead of the endless what I have to train my dog, take them out on walks, etc
I could tell they were going to be great. They were already doing a lot right, they just needed some extra tools that Victoria could give them to deal with this.
Can we show appreciation to this couple for their dedication to Bella and reinforcing her behaviour before their little one arrives? This is how responsible parenting is, fur and skin. I look forward to a follow-up episode with their little one in the bouncer, teething on one of the dogs’ toys. 😂
Yes they are responsible people but not responsible enough concerning their decision to buy a dog on a field!!! That is what they get now, it's their own fault!!!
@@phoebefoxli7429 They probably didn't know before, but are educated now. No need to shame them for their unintentional ignorance
@@old_yeller4251 One hour of google time and they would have known that you don't buy a dog without seeing the mother and the place the puppies are born... People should prepare better, before buying an animal... Sorry... That's a fact.
@@phoebefoxli7429 alright, chill....
At least they are trying their best now. You learn from mistakes and I am certain they will never make this one again.
I called my puppy the fur child and turned to my child and said so that makes you my skin child! She was mildly disturbed and I think it's the funniest thing ever 😆
"What will you expect to see when you come back?" SUCH a great question, shows they actively care and are paying attention and want to see this through. What a great couple.
Before we even got our Corgi, we visited the breeder at their home, met the parent dogs, saw where they slept, played, ate, hung out during the day, where the puppies were born, every single detail.
If your breeder declines to do this, red flag, move on.
Our 3 small dogs didn't come from an "offical" breeder as they're mixed not pure-bred. But still we went to her home and she showed us mum and the puppies, we got to cuddle and play. Mum dog was so happy to see new people. We had a better experiences with her then we did with the official breeder of or Labrador. I don't think people realise how important it is to see mum and puppies in their own space.
I used to raise Sphynx cats. I encouraged prospective new owners to come over and interact with all of my cats, male and female, and the kittens. I gave them a tour of the cattery as well. They were shown what my cats ate, their medical records, their cattery furnishings (scratching posts, litter boxes, etc.). I always kept the cattery and home very clean and odor free. The people were given info about the breed as well. They were able to get their kitty at the age of 12 weeks, no sooner, even though some of them wanted to get their kitty as young as 6 weeks. I explained why this is not advisable--kittens, as well as puppies, need the socialization of their mother and littermates, and to have all of their baby shots before leaving my cattery. They could come and visit their kitty of course, if it was too young to leave for its new home. They were also introduced to my cats' veterinarian. (Jan Griffiths).
Also, my cats were raised cage free, except for a tom who sprayed excessively. He was caged, but the enclosure was spacious, well furnished (scratch post, litter box, his bed, shelves to lounge on, etc.). This cat was trained to harness and leash, and was walked daily in my backyard, and was given lots of attention. He was a very affectionate cat, and was neutered and relieved of stud duty at the age of 6. I still kept him, but he became a loved house pet. (Jan Griffiths).
Very true. If the breeder has nothing to hide, they shouldn't mind showing you the parents and where the dogs are kept. They shouldn't mind answering any questions in general.
@@blueflare3848 Yep. I was like that. (Jan Griffiths).
I really like that Victoria points out red flags with breeders. She really understands that temperament comes from the breeder, parents, and socializing. I would love to see an episode where she points out more red flags!
Camera guy be like, "Immo go and join Supernanny crew instead, at least kids don't bite technical crew"
i don’t know about that one! haha 😂
Kids can be worse!
Some kids do bite...honestly imo kids are basically just like dogs until they turn 4. Probably why new parents think I'm rude lol.
Victoria, is aware with her surroundings and what she's doing. She's traveling miles and miles each day just to help people with their dogs and any severe problems, can we just appreciate Victoria?
Victoria is such an experienced intelligent woman its insane. Really hope to be like her.
@@thecrowdedone5359 Well, she is not American.

How is there no strict laws against puppy mills? People, please do your research before getting a purebred! Dogs are not merchandise!! A good breeder does NOT breed for profit👍🏻🐕
YES! Breeding is an expensive and timeconsuming hobby, you can't live from the money you make from it.
@@goddessofthisworld7716 the only reason you cant live from it is because puppies are sold too cheap. The "right price to pay" for a puppy should allow the breeder to care for the dogs and himself correctly. But people would never pay that price.
Too difficult to regulate if I had to guess. Anyone can breed pets like nothing. I think they should make people get a special license to list animals for sale. That would cut it right down. It's too enticing to people to have puppies multiple times a year and sell them from hundreds to thousands a piece.
Victoria is a people trainer and a voice for all fur babies.
She's a dog whisper
2:28 Bella said “I am NOT READY for a close up” 🤣
I just hope all guests don’t mind this. Not all people “get it” if they don’t have a dog, but so far everyone whose visited us has been receptive to what we ask of them for our dog’s sake. We used to have people over more regularly before the pandemic, and I know our dog has lost some of his social manners, but I feel confident that if our friends and family care enough to come visit us, they’ll be patient and listen what we need them to do so our dog feels more comfortable
Ever since I learnt about how dogs can be suddenly aggressive to strangers touching them if I meet someone who has a dog, I always ask them if its ok to pet the dog because they know their dogs temperament best. They may one day say 'no, you can't because he might bite you.' Or 'yes, but don't touch his hind area or legs or whatever part or he'll snap.'
I appreciated this one - it looks like they acknowledged they made a mistake in buying from a BYB, but were really willing to put in the effort to help change things (and didn't blame Bella herself for the situation). I do worry a bit about putting food through the bars of the baby gate if kids were to come around (a good way for them to lose their fingers), but I imagine they are responsible enough to not be exposing children to Bella, anyway.
I agree
Isn't the woman pregnant..?
I like how the couple actually actually tried to help Bella
Omg I never thought I would get this many likes.
Yes, this they are much better than some of the other people on this show
Yes, they were dedicated to her.
dude why not help whe all know their goona take care of her
Right, even before Victoria was there they made a point to separate her from people when she started getting stressed
no need for using Gods name in vain its blasphemy
I'm proud of her. It was a bit worrying after she lunged at the friend but her owners redirected her and distanced them, and then did everything else perfectly. Though I must say I was surprised they let her out of the baby gate without a leash so quickly. Went well though.
This family seems to be the most successful family so far when it comes to Victoria leaving for a few weeks
when bella looked at the camera growling i genuienly got chills
It was kinda good that she gave warnings and growled. Some dogs suppress the growl because the owners punish it, and the dog attacks without a clear warning :(
Finally, a family that isnt complete garbage. They actually give a damn and put in the work. Respect
I have to say, Bruce did wonderful listening to Bella's owners, which is so important when you have someone helping you break your dog's bad behavior
I agree, especially when he was clearly nervous about being around her.
I’m really surprised that Victoria allowed her camera crew, cameras & herself in a small room with a human aggressive dog than closed them all in by shutting the door..
Maybe they low key wanted the dog to have a meltdown to have more tv share
Right exactly my thought
I hope the breeder sees this and realizes what they are doing. I also hope they were traced back to and got shut down, dogs rescued, and banned from ever having dogs again.
You make it sound like backyard breeders care, then again there's also supposed legit registered breeders who are just as bad. I dealt with one 15 years ago where he bred his bitch some much her uterus was being expelled in chunks and she bled out. The puppies were also under developed but he didn't care that dog had did due to his stupidity, he only cared about his 'sunk costs'.
Backyard breeders know what they're doing is wrong
@@beckyhartley9502 oh my goodness
@@beckyhartley9502 my goodness 😳😟
@@beckyhartley9502 well then that's not a good or reputable breeder. Registered doesn't really mean a thing unfortunately.
I recently lost my Weimaraner, also named Bella. She was an absolute sweetheart. Protector of the realm, but the smartest pup there ever was. We got her from a breeder that had a farm, it looked like dog heaven. Bella was happiest when she was all tired out and had a peanut butter snack, and got to snooze with her people.
I actually adore this couple! They are so loving of their dog! Not screaming to the dog when she’s barking, because they know that the reason for her barking is her anxiety. Definitely deserving of a dog! It’s okay to not know what to do sometimes, as long as you’re eager to learn 😁
I bought a pup and I went to the breeders house, met mom and dad, chose her with temperament tests and a year later we are happy as can be!
Exactly! Always do ur research👍 good on u
victoria: good girl :)
the whole family: *good bella!! good girl !! yes*
You could see at 2:05, Bella is looking at Victoria like "why are you entering my room, this is my place", having a protective stance, then the moment the owners shut that door, it's subtle but her hackles shot up, I was just waiting for the growl. She did NOT want Victoria in there!
Yeah, when they closed the door, I was starting to feel nervous...
Camera man: *doing his job*
Bella: im bout to ruin this mans whole career
I have a Weimaraner-mix. He looks JUST like Bella. His mother was pregnant at the Humane Society, so he was born at the shelter. Phoenix was adopted at 9 weeks old (now 4 y.o,) and he is still skittish about everything under the sun and takes hours to stop shaking like leaf and seeking out a place to hide, with his preference being under my feet or legs, or in the concrete basement, which I assume mitigates some of the vibrations, sounds, etc. that frighten him. He's never aggressive though. Poor baby, we're surrounded on all sides with very loud noise traffic: an airport, a football stadium (cannon shot every time home team scores a TD) , a racetrack, and a busy train track!). Love this couple and their patience with Bella 🥰.
Try music from relax my dog RUclips channel for your baby whenever there are loud sounds. I am sure she would feel better

We used to breed Weimaraners when I was a wee one. They are beautiful dogs, and usually have lovely temperaments.
We used to have a really aggressive one in the neighbourhood when I was younger and as it was my introduction to the breed I just assumed aggressiveness was a breed trait. Every one I've met since then has been lovely though. They evidently just need owners who know what they are doing.
@@kezia8835 I think you're absolutely spot on there lovey-- it seems that behind most aggressive dogs, there is a troubled/uneducated or misguided owner.

Looks like the owner is pregnant. Scares me when the baby comes. Yikes. I would hope the training takes care of it and holds, but I would be afraid.

The camera man is the bravest one of them all
When I bought my sphynx we went to the breeder and I had a choice between two litters. One, the mother was very protective and her kittens were hissing and the other mother was rubbing up against me and sat in my lap as I held her babies.
We had a timid rescue at home so we chose to go with the kitten from the calm mother, to ensure a kitten with a sweeter disposition. It's so important to know the animal you're bringing home.
Amazing and almost at 1 million!

You are so amazing Victoria! Thank you for actually solving problems and the importance of training. Patience and repetitiveness is so key
Irresponsible breeders cause this! We had Weims for almost 30 years, and our club worked diligently to educate people about ‘backyard breeders.’ We had a male that was more anxious than we thought was good, and decided not to breed him for that reason. They are a wonderful breed, but need a lot of attention and exercise or they can become neurotic.
Thank you! My parents also used to breed dogs (samoyeds to be exact) and they where extremly picky with everything. The females only had a little once every two years and they sometimes traveled to a different country just to find the perfect male. Many people wanted a puppy (we sometimes had over 100 calls a day!) and they took a lot of time to decide who was right for a puppy. They asked an unbelievable amount of questions and when the future owners were decided, they went to visit their homes to see how they live. The future owners visited us three times in total so that the puppys would get to know them. They always remained in contact with and helped with problems.
I truly agree that weims are wonderful dogs, I sadly only got to know a few who were trained properly and had enough exercise.
Wow, when I first inquired about my dog (puppy), the breeder said "Come on up and meet the family." I feel so lucky about that - met my dog and his mom & dad, and all his litter mates, inside the house, and then went out and met all the other dogs they had (about 6 total). So sorry these people are having to deal with this - so damned sad when people breed for money - horrible people.
This poor dog doesn't look physically sound - her eyes are askew.
I know different folks have different opinions on this one, but Prozac really helped my boy (who came to us as a rescue with lots of trauma) with his anxiety. It should only be tried on a dog or cat who still seems to be suffering with panic, anxiety, and/or OCD despite lots of love, training, and tweaking of their routine and environment to fit their needs. Your vet can evaluate whether it's an appropriate addition to the work you and your furry loved one are already doing.
I’m sure Victoria advised a board certified veterinary Behaviourist consultation as well as a visit to their regular veterinarian for an overall health check up - it’s standard practice although time allotments may not have allowed for every discussion to be aired.
Yep, anti depressants have helped me and some of my family's dogs. anxiety is a medical condition and sometimes you need a medical treatment for that.
Give it meth and it will end in an overdose, for the better
Poor dog. Glad to hear it helped! Love Weims. I'd work to mitigate any trauma or anxiety with any Weimeraner, feel they can and will overcome. Our Weim is always looking for her food and tries to please, but she's a relentless counter surfer!!
Bellas nose looks long and slim. Is she a pure bred Weimeraner?
I watch Victoria doing this training and it is SO AMAZING!! I tried it myself of what she was doing, and my dog is getting trained from mostly all of her videos!!🤯👏🏼
its heart warming to see someone actually follow the homework. so often she has to go back and make them do it again
Beau and Bruce both did great at listening to, and following, instructions. Good for them!
when me and my dad went to pick up my dog from the breeder, we met the dogs parents, the litter, where they stayed at night and during the day, what food they ate, etc. Things like these is what you should look for when getting your dog. Like victoria said, a super big red flag with meeting in a FEILD.
I just LOVE how Bella disappears around the corner barking her head off at bo . . . and then a few seconds later pops back around to lick up the peanut butter without issue XD
People taking about Victoria
Camera man- uhh hello I almost got bitten here!
Great video. People really need the to see this and learn from it
I'm super impressed with their friends! I've had dogs who did not like being approached by strangers and even for friends it would take time for my dogs to get comfortable. I had a few friends and family members who no matter how many times we asked them to simply ignore the dogs and not try to pet them they would insist. Which would then upset my dogs who were minding their own business. The friends in this episode are keepers!
I really like how the couple and their friend go along with Victoria's advice. Better than most.
Victoria is always victorious!
I feel so sorry for this couple and Bella they have all tried so hard to overcome circumstances that are not their fault.. So glad Victoria could help them.. I hope it works out for them all , they are all so lovely.

I love to see people who genuinely want to do the best for their dogs and don't keep complaining for behaviours that are their fault
A friend of mine went to look at a puppy years ago. She did see the puppies with their mother, but things quickly took a strange turn when they referred the puppies as kitchen appliances!! The puppies were due to leave their mother but NOT ONE had been to the vet for their health check, etc. They were only in it for the money. My friend declined and headed for the door. Her parting words were "You won't even get a Kettle out of me!! She wasn't supporting someone who couldn't care less about the pups, OR their poor mother who probably had litters previously just to fund furniture for the house!! HORRIBLE!!! 👹
Its so nice to hear Victoria talk about responsible breeders and what to look for in responsible breeders instead of just condemning all breeders.
U love youre trainings
Reminds me of our border collie/shepherd mix. She was pretty nervous around new people and super protective of me in particular. Normally very well behaved and eager to please but vicious at a drive through window. We solved most of our issues by having guests greet her first (I know, it sounds weird, but I never saw her be aggressive on her own behalf) so she was comfortable with them... I know it's not the same, but this greeting ritual reminded me of that
My family has a weimaraner, and we also got him from a breeder. Except our breeder let us see their home, where the puppies were born, their toys, where they slept, what they ate, we saw the dogs with their mother and litter mates, and we spent time there with the dogs. The fact that the breeder they got their dog from didn't even let them see their home is a huge red flag. Luke (my dog) is luckily perfectly fine around people and is happy and healthy, and that's all I could ever ask for. And i'm glad that the family genuinely cares about their dog and is willing to put in effort to help their dog is amazing.
I was a little worried when they let her out of the baby gate without the leash. But it seemed to make Victoria happy

With a baby on the way Miss Victoria is likely still on the case. I can’t imagine her walking away with a “good luck with that” attitude. She is a professional through and through, they’re lucky to have her in their corner
Dogs are so easy and great at training when it comes to food. I believe that it’s a very affective positive way to train dogs and should be used more. Bella will now associate people with food as a good experience. Victoria is really good with this kind o training as well as placing boundaries that’s apart of Bella’s aggression is the boundaries. Any dog can become aggressive without adequate training. I’m so glad that the owners did not want to give up on their fur baby! Kudos to Bella and family I know together they can do it! 😁🐾🌞🐕🐕🐕
Damn, a family that takes responsibility for their mistake? Love it.
for once, here we have a couple of owners who are very far from the clueless jerks we usually see.
they are capable to effectively manage their dog, have figured out most of the problems by themselves, and are asking for help on a very specific issue that is actually hard to address, sometimes even for a professional.

When Bella lunged at the camera I flinched haha
Very common for the breed I personally have met 6 every single one was unstable.
All the ones I've met have been suuuuuper calm and friendly
I don’t mean to assume, but it could be due to understimulation. Weimaraners are an incredibly intelligent and energetic breed, and *will* get destructive and out of hand if they don’t receive proper exercise, both physically and mentally. Many pet-dog people underestimate just how much exercise that actually is, and think that a simple run will do the job. These people end up with bored, misbehaved dogs.
Also, just like any other dog, they need proper socialization, which many people don’t provide (or provide incorrectly).
@@kazzoey9164 Considering they stated he was acquired from a questionable breeder he has genetic reasons for being unstable I'd guarantee it. Say what you will there are far more crappy ones than good. I've worked with champion show dogs as well as ones perchased for hunting that were all nervous wrecks. This dog was showing no signs of destructive behavior, was physically fit and walked fairly well on a leash. Would never recommend one.
Ange Mac I wasn’t trying to imply that poor breeding doesn’t play a part in behavior, I was addressing Weimaraners as a whole. Of course a poorly bred Weimaraner is likely to have temperamental issues, that’s a given in any backyard bred dog, but the breed as a whole isn’t “unstable”. I was just listing reasons as to why even a well-bred Weim could be misbehaved.
I have also worked with the breed, and have seen both extremes. A misbehaved Weimaraner is a nightmare i’ll admit, but a well-bred, well-exercised, and well-trained Weimaraner is a very impressive dog.
Probably some of the best owners so far on this show
