The elections were not free and were not fair, they were rigged from the beginning.
Besides, there already was a legal government for Poles. It resided in London at the time, in exile, because the Soviets cut all diplomatic ties with it, because said government accepted the (nowadays agreed upon version) story that the Germans found dead Polish officers murdered and buried by the Soviets in Katyń forest in 1940.
I remember seeing this movie a little after it came out. I couldn't have been more then 10 years old. This part always stuck out to me - it's funny and sad and just so incredibly poignant.
I cried and cried and cried. And cried.
I just wanted to jump through the screen and hug him. And then when he said "I'm cold", I completely lost it.
God it just rips the soul right out of you....one of the best lines ever in any film.
I was screaming “take of the coat” I knew this shit will happen and he’ll be mistaken as an ss from a distance.
can you imagine going through all that trouble just to die for wearing a German coat
“Why the fucking coat?”
“I’m coldish”
💀💀💀
when he said im cold, i laughed. purely by instinct. but that laugh quickly turned into crying. to think what he went through. to think what all these people went through.
‘Why fucking coat?’ always makes me chuckle but the ‘I’m cold’ is heartbreaking
Wilm Hoselfeld is the hero who helped Polish people. thank you.
This video changed my life. I now wear a coat when I feel cold and I became polish.
Aawww. Such a good scene. This dude, scarred because of war, can only survive the cold because of the enemies' coat.
This scene gets me every time.
Does it
Oh Warsaw...
ah warsaw..the only capital where it get's raped many times
The best movie ever shot can never be made in this quality
Hi Cold, we asked for the coat because otherwise you're commiting perfidy...
Round him up boys he's a war criminal.
Those are polish soldiers. They've got polish uniforms. What weapon would you expect? American? or maybe german? ;-)
trickester0 Russian
The Polish Army used British weapons as well. Like the .303 Enfield Rifle.
That was Polish Ludova Army(pro Soviet).
trickester0 there were two Polish armed forces during WW2. Polish armed forces on west and Polish armed forces on east. West was equiped and organised like British and american units.. east like soviet units with soviet weapon.
@@postgradsibstud9321 Nope, ,,Polish People Army' born after the war, in WW2 were ,,Polish Army in the East'' they were not pro soviets in the war, many of Polish soldiers in the east hate russian as well as Germans.
lol he's flipping them off with his left hand.
flipping what off????
Ann Solo 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I don't think he was really flipping them off escuha. I think his fingers just got stiff from the cold
I know this is a long time but it came out on Netflix and for some reason I cried after this scene
Thank god he survived 😭💙💙
I broke into tears when I heard the Polish National Anthem.
Psycho9263 when I was young I had tears...
Zimmer, go fuck yourself in your nazi- germanic- sharia now state
+saitec I'm actually kind of proud now. With just one comment I managed to be called both a Nazi by Marek Szulej and a leftist braindead bitch by you. Kind of shows that both of you don't really know what you are talking about. Nothing is easier than to trigger Polish right wingers with low education.
When I first watched this movie and this scene happened I was yelling NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!
I agree, the best scene of the whole movie to me!
"Why the fucking coat?!"
"It's fucking cold!"
My favorite scene in the whole movie
I speak Spanish and the versión in Spanish is very sad. But for comments I see the saddest for you is when he said: I'm cold. For me all this scene is very shocking and sad. Sorry I don't write English very well. I hope to have explained myself well
you did it very well
"Why the coat!?"
"Wellll...I just looooove the fit darling. Classic lapel and the lines just complement my figure so well.."
"Why the [ ] coat?"
"Gee, I don't know. Because it goes with my eyes?"
Вечная память Героям!!! Царствие небесное.Земля пухом.Спите спокойно.Вы навсегда в наших сердцах,!!! Никто не забыт ничто не забыто!!! Помним Любим Скорбим!! АМЕН!!
🤡🤣
@@crc3387 are you serious right now bro
1 reason i love this movie is because it doesn't illustrate germans only as animals but also humans. for instance the german who saves his life
Alexander Wiesner actually its a true story
that's just shittly usa propaganda.
Glass of Juice a small percentage commuted atrocities. Most were hero’s, too.
@Przystojny Autysta: you act like the could choose. Thats like saying you as individual can choose who gets voted. Most Germans don't wanted this. The allies trated them like animals after the war too. You can't bring justice by being injust. Also there's a difference between civilans and combatants.
@@squintohighlights Most were heroes? What sources claim that it was like that? And if that's true then who killed all the Jews and other nations, occupied most of the Europe, ran concentration camps, elected NSDAP and profited from looting of stolen property? You can't do such things without having considerable public support and strong and numerous military forces. You need large number of human resources to succeed in such difficult undertakings.
War. Where logic and reason are the first two causalties. "Why the coat?" "I am cold"... Poor guy.
This is yet another amazing movie
Russian soilder: that ain't no polish dude, that's Jesus!!
ExploringEire polish soldier
ExploringEire these were polish soildrs
He looks JEwish not German . They look very different
Daniel Walsh Those Are Polish Soldiers That liberated Warsaw You Can Tell At 1:59 with the Silver Emblem on their caps which is the Polish Eagle.
@@MarshalShayCormac They also wear Polish uniforms so its easy to recognize them if you know how a Polish uniform looks.
2:04 Favourite part xD
My family and me during winter in our neighborhood.
Man, I cried. I literally thought it was gonna end with him dead.
I think he forgot to mention that he is polish...
They shot at him , missed all of them , THEN THREW A FUCKING GRENADE , missed , AGAIN , then shot at him only to miss AGAIN.
Holy shit guys. I mean , it's good that you didn't hit him , but that level of incompetence is really fucking shameful.
You don't know much about shooting? Have you ever been to the shooting range? Besides, how do you know if they wanted to kill him? Anyway, in Szpilman's memories this scene looks a bit different than in the movie.
"why the coat"
It's Hugo boss 😁
Why is this movie so good the acting is spot on
