Simone! Simone! I gasped when you showed your shawl. I “saw” the Sagas, the tree Yggdrasil at the center - I have no idea whether or not I’m confusing Nordic stories, but that is a MILLION DOLLAR PIECE! I so loved it that Betsy sees that one will grow wise wearing it. Wow. I ❤ Ken’s felted tweed sweater on Kim. I really think you three are just the best, and you wear these beautiful things like models. I’m an admirer! Thank you all!
As always, a wonderful episode. It's the only podcast I look forward to watching every two weeks. It's my Saturday morning treat! Thank you for making these vlogs.
Simone!!! Oh my goodness, you are absolutely stunning, in all you do and how you present yourself. Your beauty, and your talent are quite remarkable and simply amazing. ❤❤❤
I loved the gorgeous shawl, Simone. It must feel like you're wrapped inside a cloud. I've made a few unspun wool sweaters, and its lightness is deceptively warm. All the best to everyone.
Another great podcast. I am watching from Burbank, CA, and knitting has been helping me deal with the stress of all the fires. Thanks for thinking of us.
We've had the drastic temp swings, too ... Northern Mb. Simone, I get so inspired every time I see your 'Jethro' ... the color combo make me think of jewels on dark velvet ... what a 'gem' it is! I love your 'ladies' cardigan Betsy! 😅
Simone! Your hair! It looks so cute. I had to go back and watch the older shows to see if I missed your haircut, lol. My woodstove has been pumping out the heat here in Fredericton, too. Love you guys!
wonderful episode! We are freezing in Owen Sound as well, and it has not stopped snowing since Christmas. We have feet of snow and -10C to -15C, no sun. Your Harmony part was like balm to my winter-weary heart! Love that shawl Simone, I think I popped it into my Favs last episode. I have some pale pink Manchelopi that will work well for it though that icy greyish colour is perfect....hmmm. And I love the colour in the Goonies hat. I so want to take one of those Crochet workshops, I watched some of the intro videos and wow! For now I can watch what both you Kim and Betsy do and stay inspired. Keep warm!
Time flies by fast when knitting and watching your podcast! ❤❤❤ I fell in love with the Moorland Shawl when I saw Simone's WIP in last episode, and I now realize I might have enough of unspun yarn (by Crux Fiber) to make one. I hope it turns out as nice...
Thank you for the taste of summer! We actually booked a cottage for a week in July! So, unless you wind down the shop for a vacation, I fully intend to visit between July 19-26 ❤️🤞
Sharing in your misery with the weather here on the East Coast - brrrrrrr! It’s all wool all the time these days. Loved seeing your Traveler Shawl Simone. It was my frivolous Christmas Eve cast on and I’m almost done. I’ve done mine monochromatic in a lovely deep blue and I’m pleased with the look. You got to love this craft there is not just one way to do things.
I crocheted "the Granny Square Cardigan" in 2022 Simone and was planning on wearing it to the PEI Fibre fest that fall but i think Fiona happened. I made it out of fleece and Harmony yarn. It turned out GORGEOUS! Its to small for me now😔 but hoping to get back into again this Fall. If you would like to check it out i am 5doodles on Ravelry, 🥰🇨🇦Sharon.
I really feel that weather contrast. We had a day where it was 2 celcius and the next night -41!!!! Canadian weather aint for the weak. My friend says that it keeps out the riff raff.
Yes we know about Phil too. But we also have our own groundhog predictor. Hi name is Sam. Here's the link to learn all about him. wildlifepark.novascotia.ca/shubie-sam.asp
I’m also doing Tessellation Nation & was starting to feel impatient with the color & design tasks & wondering if I should “just skip it”…so thank you for reminding me of the value of the process & the long term goals & benefits!
Simone...i adore your jethro... the details about it where could i read all about it and how much of selkirk worsted u used etc? That would be so awesome because im soo wanting to make this pattern❤
I loved seeing the creeping charlie. In Iowa our creeping charlie is tiny and just crawls along the ground. My husband hated it and would spray it to kill it!! I told him I loved it--it was so pretty. It made a nice ground cover, but he didn't agree. 😕
I have pulled out a lot of creeping charlie in my garden, but now I let it flourish along the edges. It really is beautiful. It feeds the bees. And I actually love its "herby" scent. As with most things, perspective is everything!
One thing I tried with a shawl collar was to use three different needle sizes, going from smallest to largest, and knitting several rows with each one.
Hi. I love your shopcast. Always a funny moment in my week and inspiring. About The Mercerie courses I have a question. You did the Wallflowers course and now are taking the Granny squares . Are the color theory classes in the beginning different? You seem fascinated by the things you are learning now
I think she kind of brings you along with the three classes. She spends more time on the colour theory in the first modules of the Homage. She reviews and builds on that for the Wallflowers. There is a bit of repetition I think think the combinations you use in the Wallflowers are a bit more complex. Then by the time you get to Tessellation Nation, as Betsy says, you have kind of a brush up on the colours, but are spending more time in the designs - putting the shapes together.

In the Jethro sweater when Simone says use leftover bits and bobs, can you use different weight yarns or only the same weight? I have quite a stash of bits and bobs - what is a way you tell the weight difference in your leftovers? I have a lot all mixed together and some times the difference in weights is not obvious to me 🙂
I used the same weight of yarn throughout my Jethro. I typically keep my leftovers sorted by yarn weight (worsted, aran, fingering ect) so it is easy to see at a glance how much I have of a particular weight of yarn in bits and pieces. If you’re looking to use yarns of different weights in the same crochet project, these little squares are perfect for testing. They are easy to memorize and very quick to make. You can hold multiple strands of yarn together, crochet a square, and then compare it to others to ensure they are the same size and fabric that you enjoy. If that particular square doesn’t match, it is easy to pull out and start fresh.
I’ve been watching your vlog for over a year and really enjoy it. However I’ve noticed something happening lately, Kim, that you might not be aware of. You interact more with Betsy as you are talking, than you do Simone. You are constantly looking at and talking to her, while Simone just sits there looking at the camera. Maybe you’re not aware of this, but it’s obvious. Stay warm, ladies! It’s brutally cold here in my area of the US, too.
As Doris said. The truth is Simone was especially quiet in this episode because her allergies were acting up and she was concentrating on not sneezing! True story!
Simone your “jethro” is the best one I have seen so far
I agree with that!
Thanks for another fantastic episode
Love the shawl knit by Simone and the crochet sweater. Thanks to all for all the inspiration
Love watching

Thank you for watching Elaine, as always!
Another very, very enjoyable episode. You never disappoint! Thank you all x
We are thrilled you like the show!
Love your haircut Simone.
Kim, that sweater is gorgeous. Love the pattern you picked for the colorwork. Can't wait to see it completed.
I loved the gorgeous shawl, Simone. It must feel like you're wrapped inside a cloud. I've made a few unspun wool sweaters, and its lightness is deceptively warm. All the best to everyone.
That’s a great description! It’s like wearing a hug.
Another great podcast. I am watching from Burbank, CA, and knitting has been helping me deal with the stress of all the fires. Thanks for thinking of us.
Oh my! Yes I have been watching the news. I hope you are safe. It must be so stressful! Take care of yourself!
Kim, your sweater is looking fabulous!
Thanks Keiko!

Simone spinning is just fantastic. I wish you all perfect weather ... I totally loved the out of season harmony part.
Simone! Your hair! It looks so cute. I had to go back and watch the older shows to see if I missed your haircut, lol. My woodstove has been pumping out the heat here in Fredericton, too. Love you guys!

Love knitting along with you 👋 ❤
Thanks ladies. Simone, the shawl is so, so pretty. Thanks for sharing all your projects and advice everyone.
Another great podcast Ladies. You make me smile every time. Even when everything else is bleak.
Thank you for the taste of summer! We actually booked a cottage for a week in July! So, unless you wind down the shop for a vacation, I fully intend to visit between July 19-26 ❤️🤞
We will be here! Summer is prime time in our shop!
Aww sweet bees !
I’d like to see Ken doing wheelies . That would be a fun farm update.

LOL! That actually maybe a thing...
Girls I like all of your hair!
Punxsutawney Phil is the groundhog that predicted the weather! He is the pride of state of Pennsylvania! Haha
Yes we know about Phil too. But we also have our own groundhog predictor. Hi name is Sam. Here's the link to learn all about him.
wildlifepark.novascotia.ca/shubie-sam.asp
Enlightening! Never knew Sam existed! Thanks for the info. Sure hope they predict an early Spring.
PETA wants PA to use a cake instead of Phil to bring in Spring. More insanity from PETA.
I’m also doing Tessellation Nation & was starting to feel impatient with the color & design tasks & wondering if I should “just skip it”…so thank you for reminding me of the value of the process & the long term goals & benefits!
Hi, when will you have more of your enamel Fleece and Harmony pins available? Thank you, Kim😊

Betsy you need to check out the Gambier by Lindsay Inouva. I think you’d love the “grandpa” like cardigan
So, will there be a Moorland Cardigan?

@@sandandskycreations6263 Thank you!
I have recently begun storing my leftovers in marked bags by yarn weight. Wish I had done this sooner 😕
Now don’t go pooh poohing the Goonies movie. It’s a fun watch. Take a look and report back. 😊
He he! No poo-pooing here 😊 I just prefer the Gremlins to the Goonies 🤣

That is because Betsy talks to her more. Simone is quiet.
