Fun video. I have been a scholar of the La Folias for over 20 years as a violinist. So many different styles and interpretations. They have given me endless joy playing and performing them over the years.
I play Fernando Sor’s theme and variations on this. First learned it in 1977 while studying Classical Guitar. I still play it on a semi regular basis maybe five times monthly. Love this analysis of it!
The music you played was familiar especially the Handel, yet I have never heard of this progression. I will now explore further and take a listen to the Vivaldi version
I guess some call Handel's rather famous Sarabande (in d minor from HWV 437) call it "Handel's folia." That is my favorite as well. In fact, that piece (the Sarabande) is a bit of an obsession of mine. Thank you for the video. 😃

Thank you for posting on the Follia and it is lovely to hear you play the Corelli with those transitional chords explained.

Love it! My personal favorite are the 26 variations on La folia di Spagna by Antonio Salieri.
Bernardo Pasquini's "Partite sopra la Aria della Follia Espagna" does some wonderful things with this.
