A gem steve, unfortunately won,t be able to work on it ,back into lockdown,6 wks, also thanks for you,re blogs.after a shift at peebles to take a trip up to cardronna is much appreciated.
This is such a hidden little gem of golf instruction. Lynn Blake has a similar video but can be hard to consume if you're one familiar with The Golfing Machine book. Anyways love the content!
Loved this video and this golf course is simple gorgeous!!!!!! That one view where you set the camera in front and drove over it - purple flowers in the hillside, 🤩!!!!👍
Steve this is somewhat contrary to a prior lesson where are you referenced Rory rolling his wrist counter clockwise to create a bowed left wrist... which is correct?
Steve, when you say roll, do you mean turn the body or roll the wrists ? Can you let me know please. It looks like turn your body from the vid. Another great vid, not sure why every golfer isn't watching, the quality of the teaching is great. Thanks, take care and stay safe
Cobra putter? Putting has been a nightmare. I had years where my stroke, and even once my putter, meant I never hit two putts the same. I had a massive case of the yipps for a couple of years which meant I didn't really want to play, my putter got bent and actually had 10 deg of loft which led to impossible distance control. I have changed putter grips, my grip, putter lengths, putters but nothing worked. Now I just concentrate on a good roll. I took the hole out of the equation and just try for a good contact. Now I have to relearn about reading greens and the line but for the time being focus on the stroke. Guess what more putts go in and I have fewer three putts. I loved your recent tip about the wrist - incorporated...
Hey steve Great video!!! Are all club released/uncocked at the same point driver thru wedge or is it at different points on the swing plane with driver being the earliest and wedge just at or past the ball. It would be great to get your opinion on that.. thank you so much for all your great videos! They are all awesome 👍🏻
Great video Steve! “Pivot. Un-cock. Roll.” Looks like a 40” Odyssey Armlock Stroke Lab Double Wide. (I think you told us you were getting this one, tho?) I hope you make ‘em all now! Cheers!
Not seen your swing obviously, but I'd guess instead of the roll of left wrist, you're flipping it over too quickly. Left divot coming from too out to in club path. So path going left, face closing too quickly = hooks
Hi Steve, I like your simplistic way of explaining things, but putting ( pardon the pun ) it into practice is another thing. I play golf backwards, it’s called flog. Best wishes from Leicestershire.
Not sure I agree with this. I've worked on a rolling release for about 5 years. I could never get a consistent straight ball. Mostly pulls and hooks to the left. What I've been doing recently is release the club head right down the line, but just after my hands get to, or just passed, the ball. At least that's what it feels like. I've picked up quite a few yards, much more solid impact, and straighter ball flight.
For those of you who play tennis left handed and golf right handed like myself this drill and. Motion is nothing but a tennis backhand..., watch Thiem or Federer or any other top player, absolutely the same motion- biomechanics does not change when you want to accelerate a round object.....😏
Stephen, please don’t take this the wrong way, but your videos are to long. That’s my opinion. I like the basic content, but I think it can be condensed into a much shorter time.
When I try to "bring the magic" to my swing I typically end up just topping the hell out of the ball. As a playing partner once said "You gave that ball a headache!"
Hello Steve. This is the best way to teach the release. Pivot Uncock and Roll... JB / NC
You have the cure for everything. The ball goes straight. I love the on course play. The view is outstanding.

Whoa!!! Off the chain. TY. Jim B
Claw grip. 40 inches make?
Hi Steve, great stuff! If the Ball is position at 12 o’clock , would that mean uncock at about 2 o’clock. My swing thoughts?
Different for everyone, its a dynamic action
Very good, but the swing is on a arc, straight lines can pull your hands outside the arc. No?
That is about the best video I have seen explaining that release, thank you. Are you using a combo set of V6 & blades?
Stroke lab black 1w for sure
Love that steve pal 👍
What's happened to the greens at Cardrona Steve looks like they have a bad case of Fuzz.
Neglected during lock down........so disappointing!
@@stevejohnstongolf totally agree mate gutted I love a stay and play there.
Odyssey stroke lab double wide 45 inches ish ?
Stroke Lab Double Wide 42"
Finally someone said it: Roll. Haha
I’ve done this and always wondered if it was correct. Felt good. Ha
Peter Croker at his best!!
what is the (most common) remedy to stop hitting left?
I’d like to see your review on the TRUST golf ball. Find them in Amazon.
Great video Steve! “Pivot. Un-cock. Roll.” Looks like a 40” Odyssey Armlock Stroke Lab Double Wide. (I think you told us you were getting this one, tho?) I hope you make ‘em all now! Cheers!
42, great effort though!!!!!
Stroke lab arm lock 38”?
I try and make sure my left wrist is flat to bowed at the top and try and keep it bowed that my feeling.
Odyssey O Work’s something or other Birdie making machine, that’s what that is!
Thats close!
Wow what a difference, great lesson keep them coming. PS: Work on the putting!! :-)
Power accumulator number two, unaccumulated. I'm a believer.
Tried this but all I am hitting is low hooks. Divots all point left of target. What am I doing wrong?
Not seen your swing obviously, but I'd guess instead of the roll of left wrist, you're flipping it over too quickly. Left divot coming from too out to in club path. So path going left, face closing too quickly = hooks

Stroke lab 40”
This vid is like Steve and @overhandgolf had a baby.
Great info. Still waiting on what shafts you use still?
Hi Jesse, The shafts in my irons are Recoil in stiff flex. Thanks,
Looks like odyssey stroke lab black double wide arm lock putter
Are we really actively uncocking? It seems like my uncocking is exactly why I’m scooping it?
Not sure I agree with this. I've worked on a rolling release for about 5 years. I could never get a consistent straight ball. Mostly pulls and hooks to the left. Odyssey
That’s not an early release?
Not if you keep rotating.
