It was the following season that Henry scored 30 league goals and had 6 league assists whilst winning the EPL undefeated but somehow only finished 4th in the Ballon d'or rankings that year with Shevchenko winning the award despite the fact that Henry clearly had better numbers and individual performances

Because Shevchenko had a better season in a tougher league. There's more to football that just the Premiership, and unfortunately Arsenal (and Henry) were nowhere in the Champions League, either. France also didn't have the best year internationally.

People hate what they dont understand. The Invincibles for all their talent are a statistical outlier in England. A product of their time. They did something that is likely to not be repeated for the foreseeable future. It's easier for someone to accept one loss if they win 37 times than going 38 games defeated if it means more points. I think its because the factors and products of winning are easier to quantify than the factors and products of not losing.

Ah man, if the good times return (and they will one day 😄) cherish it. I started watching arsenal from 93 and finally seeing them lift a Premier trophy was bliss. The funny thing that always gets long forgotten when your sucesfull, is the criticism you endured through the season. What? Wengers early teams were criticised !? YES!!! Why? Well first off United were always the favourites every season. Even in the years we won, in the aftermath when pundits and journalists were asked who they tipped for the following season, United were most ppls choice. The criticism as always was signings. Its very very easy to forget this, because so many of wengers young gems and unknowns from across Europe blossomed into great players and fan favourites, but at the time of arrival, there sometimes were question marks going up. I personally enjoyed this. Wenger would bring in these players you hadn't really heard of at all so it was all a mystery as to what to expect. Wengers curse was that as the years rolled on, ppl would expect these gems every year but football had changed. The Premier league clubs began to go internationalise their teams following wengers approach and so competition just got better . The Premier league went from a 2 horse competition to eventually having a Big 6. The early teams were often accused of (believe it or not ) being too wasteful and not killing teams off after dominating games. Too reliant on Henry (though this perception changed eventually as the midfielders began to chip in with the goal burden.) Being bottlers (this tag emerged with not being able to achieve back to back titles. But was also because of underachieving in the champions league .) Accused of trying to pass the ball into the net. Individual criticisms of certain players at various times of the year-yep even the great names. All of this stuff vanishes once the title is secure. They would always say we were the best to watch regardless. There was deff more positivity-an aura around the ground and among fans back then, would of been far more interesting if social media existed. Still....as wonderful the prem titles were....my personal favourite memory was the 1995 European Cup winners cup. Simply because I was a kid and it was the first trophy I saw them lift watching the game live on TV.
Still early days but it will be a herculean task for him to achieve. He will, first of all, still need to out perform the likes of Van Persie, Adebayor, Sanchez, Aubameyang, in their prime, before reaching the level of the invincibles.
