Kate's new music sounds a million times better through headphones. It's a sensory explosion!
Hagrids been petrified, lol , actually this looks great - can't wait .
Strange....why relase this video on 26th of april? Now that this song already dropped out of the charts.......Would the video help to get it back into the charts? I doubt...
@ajnastarheart The song is out already, you can check it out. The auto-tune parts are just those of the computer in the chorus (sung by her son Bertie). And as you've already said yourself - this isn't using auto-tune for the sake of using it, like many others do, but a valid and calculated artistic choice, which works perfectly well (Well, at least for me).
@Yetaxa Yeah, I agree, it sounds like a Vocoder, but there's been much debate about this. Some people claim this effect could be done also with auto-tune, and that it sounds like this is what was used here. I wouldn't know. I'm no expert on the matter...
I love Kate Bush's music and creativity, but I just don;t get this new version: it is so much less subtle than the original, and the video clip here just underlies that fact. Is it partly a sign of the times - that actually audiences need things to be more obvious? But if that's the case, it seem unlike Kate to bow to such pressures. having said that, this is still miles better than most of the stuff that's churned out these days.
@loooooooo65432 I agree, I really hope she ends up appearing in this video and is not afraid to show herself, for what ever reason, fans would like to see what a contemporary Kate looks like today. She is the same age as Madonna afterall, 52/53 is not old anymore.
Looks like Kate's lips with a vinyl coating...might be all we see of Kate if she's sticking to directing others and not herself, too. Hoping she's not overloading herself, again, like she did back in '92/'93.
@loooooooo65432 I would love a cameo of some kind... even if it was just her mouth on the screen :D I think a cameo might even beat her being a "main character"... cameos just have an awesome vibe.
@fbllxl5 amen to that, and thats why we have good taste in music,and you said it,its all about the music :)
@JazzySimpleton either way, it's doing what it's supposed to do, and that is creating a computer like voice.
I was dancing cuz I loved the song
@JazzySimpleton Isn't it a vocoder though, bit different to autotune.
Watch out, Robbie! This computer ain't your friend!
Love it!
Wow, I think the short film is going to be great! :D
Deeper understanding is one of my favourites :)
Awesome!

@KatesPinkZeppelin Yeah, I think that electronic voice is meant to be him.
She dont need autotune
I have a weird feeling that Director's Cut came from Kate Bush figuring out and playing with new music technologies and techniques. Maybe she used songs that she'd already created to have somewhere to start, so that she would feel comfortable when going forward and making brand new music with brand new technology.
@RideHanna
given the absolute crap that gets in the charts these days,if i was kate i'd be thankful it didn't get in! besides kate dosn't make music so it will get to number one the whole time,she makes it because she wants to or has been inspired by something.
Hagrid had a shave!
@RawBrian18 This Woman's Work is very popular in its original form. I have NEVER heard the Maxwell version used in commercial purposes, but have heard Kate's version many times.
@SelectCircle That's her son's voice... It's supposed to sounds like a computer.
Her voice is as normal in the rest of the song.
Also she has messed with voice to great effect in the past. I'm thinking Leave it Open.
@henrycaville Yes I agree, my point is, in view of how long kate takes to produce a body of work. It seems a little perverse to then go back to perfect it.I think if kate had decided to perform this set as a live show and then recorded it. Then the whole project would have been justified. Because Kate has not to date developed as a Live performer these songs have languished in their original state, they never got the chance to be performed and thus evolve. She knows this.
Rip.
I've always thought that Deeper Understanding was ahead of its time. We have definitely moved into an age where we spend more times with electronics than people and we are more upset by misplacing our phones than actually calling someone. This reworking makes this brilliant point even more poignant by updating this.
Did you ever get so angry that you murdered Noel Fielding and made out with a computer #overreactionmuch
4 days till the whole thing
Cannot wait, Kate! I am loving the redux of this and look forward to the rest of "Director's Cut" as well as your upcoming album of all NEW material!! So blessed to have you back!
@KatesPinkZeppelin WHERE DO U HEAR BERTIE?
I'm very excited to see this! I know that she wont disappoint me!
And if Kate herself doesn't appear in the video, I'll enjoy it anyway! =)
Bertie sounds exactly like The Trio Bulgarka
Already full of awsomeness, Kate in the video makes it excellent, great, super!
I don't care if Kate appears in the vid, for me it's all about the music.
i love this so much!!! the coloured sound waves coming out of the computer are like electric fish or something (maybe a fish people reference)and i love the rocky horror lips!!!!can't wait to see the rest of it!!!eeeeep!
The video is out -

yes I suppose you are right. My what self opinionated fans kate Bush has. hehe
Just got the single at the Radio Station I work at. Great tune, where's the video?
Can we have the other videos on iTunes as well please? :)
yeeeeaahh a video, I love this tune : )
Wow can't wait to see this in full
@MsBkirk true!
.
Bertie does such a great job. I love this and I'm really not getting why people aren't digging it.
It isn't about anything being subtle or trying to make things obvious like other "artists", it's about the choices made to bring the song to life. There's nothing about Kate Bush that would ever follow anything that today's "artists" are doing. There are so many musicians that list Kate Bush as an inspiration, young and old, and that's how it should be. Glad you're back, Kate!
I am not surprised the single fell out of the charts after limping in at 86?
It is her weakest release in years, it is too close to the original yet it seems lethargic in comparison. A directors cut is when a Director restores lost material to a piece in order to express their vision in it's entirety. Not to go back and re-make, if its not broke don't fix it Kate. I long to hear something new from Mrs Bush.
