Fantastic comparison video - We were torn on which microphone to buy... We decided on the VideoMic GO II due to being able to use it on a camera and smartphone -and I found the audio quality to be much better! Thanks for creating this video - it was extremely helpful! 🤠
many thanks for the video but at 20cm in a quite room any microphone does a decent job. It's hard to hear a difference without a real soundscape around it. which rejects the most unwanted sounds? which is the most natural? The videomicro costs around 40€ is easy to find on sale or used. Videomicgo II costs 110 + 30 for the windshield. looks to have no more sensitivity :/ not sure to buy one
I get a lot of distortion on the Rode VideoMic GO II - even when the sound i am recoriding is not so loud. Anyone experiencing the same problem ? thanks
I feel like every microphone when you are not facing the mic is not gonna perform in the full potential… definitely not the best way to use the micro. Highly recommend to talk in to the mic!
Can you answer me this , why would I get this over a micro II ? Is this better for using in crowds or something or cutting out street noise where the micro II won’t ?
Is the difference only the warm tone or some quality also ? I Cant decide because of bad sound quality of my phone 😢 plz help I would like to do voice overs on yt and my home is near a busy area so which one i should consider ?? Here the video micro costs $50 and the go ii costs $98 And can i match the warmth on the micro with go ii using software?
Hey, do you think de windshield of the VideoMicro (the deadkitten) can be used in the Videomic GO II? Cause I cannot get the compatible deadkitten for the Videomic GO II, but I can get the one compatible with the VideoMicro, can you try it and tell me? Much apprecciate it!
What is best audio level settings in A7III with rode video micro......what should be the ideal distance between mic and character to get better sound quality??
I would say like a “open hand” of distance from your mouth … try to put your audio lvl close to green/yellow try not to let it pick to red. It can change from voice to voice… make a test and let me know how it sound. 🚀🚀🔥
Obrigado Luiz. Estive 1h na loja a pensar qual levar e o teu vídeo ajudou-me a escolher entre os dois após umas leituras específicas sobre ambos. Thank you !
Thanks man! I can’t say much about the micromix pro + because I don’t own one. But if you are looking for a all in one/small mic I highly recommend the Videomic Go ii
None of these smaller mics are great at that distance. I think there is a recommendation as far as how far you should be. From personal experience anything exceeding 6+ ft gets pretty questionable. Quality begins to get compromised significantly. Arms distance approx 2 ft is perfect. 2-4 ft is awesome. 4-6ft is good. 6+8 ft- better than on board 8+ft YMMV. At 4 ft you can still use a anywhere between a 24mm and possible 50mm lens (depending on how cropped you want your image) to get some really nice bokeh in talking head videos.
Man, your video has me contemplating the GO II... Does it have the same background humming noise like the Micro has when it's plugged into the camera? Or does it seem to have any at all? Still trying to figure that part of audio and levels out... 👍🏼
Hi, thanks for the nice video. I only make documentaries outdoors, for working people (ethnic groups in remote countryside). I would like to ask a question please: I have a GH6 camera and its microphone is good. Again, I don't use the camera in my country, but only when traveling far. I don't do interviews. If you were me, would you use a small external mic or would you do without it? Thank you.
Thanks for the question! I would say if you want a better audio quality aways go with a microphone… doesn’t matter what microphone it is! This is gets the job done!! I will drop a new video very soon using this mic on my travel trip to Italy stay tuned and you will be able to hear more about me using the mic. But yeah if you can invest in one it will bring more quality to your interview. 🚀
@@luizhribeiro Thanks for the answer, but the problem is that I never do interviews and why to leave a microphone on my camera for better sound, but what about? My fear is that the mic is more of an inconvenience than a utility to me. Did you read my question correctly? Thanks again.
Maaaaan… you are Great!!! And i am Little jealous that you have the mic go II yet…. But you deserve it!! 😎😎😎 thanks for the video, great content!! Subscribed aaand I have to order this thing immediately 😅
Haha maaaan this one is for sure a must! Little powerful mic! I am happy that you enjoyed and thanks for your comment and for subscribe ! I appreciate the support!
Awesome man, you know how to make excellent videos/reviews in every aspect! Question: I still can't decide what to get: Currently I have the Rode VideoMic Pro+ and the Videmicro. The Pro+ sounds soooo much better than the Videomicro, especially in a 'non-optimized' room/environment. Then I wanted to get the NTG, but it's too large for walking around on a Sony ZV1. Also the NTG is 2,5x the price of the GO II. I think I will buy the GO II and hope it's a significant improvement over the Videomicro in a non-optimized room >> that's my main concern/reason. What do you think?
So… I would say if you have the money to invest… NTG is the one to go! The audio sounds and lvls that you can control … is just amazing… watch this video: ruclips.net/video/KvlcSjj707Y/видео.html
@@luizhribeiro Just ordered the Go II from Amazon ;) If it's not what I need, it'll go back. Sooner or later the NTG will replace my Pro+ anyway I guess :)
@@luizhribeiro but I think overall Micro still can do the job for most needs in the field, obviously if you not working on Hollywood blockbuster project. For vloging, or just for a better sound recorded into the camera, it’s just grate and half of the price. For outdoors usage also wins with a very good dead cat shield. If you consider to do any podcasting, or voice recording for any purpose, than II seams a much grater choice.
Hello, can you answer me, does this mic provided good bass recording, like when you record music with bass would it provide good bass output that it recorded also?
Hey man! It's honestly great quality, definitely not plastic. You can always count on RODE for outstanding quality. All-metal body and also aluminum. On the RODE website it says, "The VideoMic GO II features an all-metal body, machined from aerospace-grade aluminium, so you can be sure it’s up to a life on the road. Small but mighty indeed." Hope that helps! Appreciate the support.

Micro is just for camera. MicgoII Is for everything … long term investment …
I get a lot of distortion on the Rode VideoMic GO II - even when the sound i am recoriding is not so loud. Anyone experiencing the same problem ? thanks
Because of 110 spl on micgoii and micro goii. The original videomicro have 140spl and no clipping (no distortion)
Can you compare the videomic go 2 vs the wireless go
what would you suggest between video mic 2 vs video micro 2. Is it wworth 30 euros differences?
How is the quality of the videomicro when talking behind the camera while filming the scenery in front of you?

I am not sure, I don’t have a go pro 10 to test! I am sorry my friend! Maybe try to contact røde support! I am sure they will email you back!
Nope

The fluffy / dead cat is large for a reason. Outdoors the foam is NOT adequate to keep out any wind

Does the dead cat that comes with the Video Micro fit the Video Micro II exactly? Or is it smaller/shorter? Thanks
