It's not just the watches (and the beautiful music, production and camera work) but your take on what matters and what doesn't is refreshing. It's like listening to an old friend who puts your anxieties and irritations in a very small cardboard box, and then throws it deftly into a canal.
I finally gave up trying to buy a no-date after over a year and multiple ADs gave me the same runaround. Oh do you want to be on our waiting list. Oh how many watches have you bought from us before. Oh we have some in the back but those are for our special customers. Meanwhile walked across the hall from the Rolex AD into the Omega boutique to pick up a new 300M. God it’s so frustrating. Wanted one but just absolutely am not going to play the games anymore.
Its frustrating and the value of the lost sales opportunities for Rolex must be enormous. One wonder if its really necessary to alienate 1000s of wanting to be customers in order to maintain the status of a luxury brand.
I haven’t been feeling to Christmasy until I heard “Ode to Joy”. It really brightened my spirit. 2020 has been a crappy year for many of us but being able to travel the world through watch enthusiasts like yourself has made 2020 a lot brighter. A wonderful video as always. Merry Christmas to you and your daughter. Christmas blessings to all who enjoy your RUclips channel. Hello from snowy Calgary
You're the only other person to highlight the change in turning the crown to adjust the time; which has now become counter intuitive. Gr8 Venice background, gr8 lume shot too. Clasp is slightly wider, thanks for highlighting that subtle change.
By far the maxi case now looks like a legend instead of this 41mm case with 21mm lug and oversize clasp. It is way too big on my 6-1/2” wrist size. After trying it on at the AD decided to appreciate the 40mm maxi case. Long live 40mm, perfect in every way.
I absolutely love the new 41mm. I got lucky and got one from my AD pretty quick. I am more of a five digit Rolex guy, but the 41mm to me looks like the perfect meld between classic proportions and the newer, modern style. Rolex clearly sweated all of the little details with this one and absolutely nailed it.
"Ode to Joy" ! How appropriate opening !!! So, Beethoven, Berlucchi and Rolex ! You are ending this troublesome year on a high note, my friend ! You keep enjoying your watches and we shall revel in fine art of your videos ! You have my Best Wishes for a Happy New Year !!!
40 mm stopped, 41 mm launched. Reminds me off „The king is dead. Long live the king!“. Congratulations on the new Rolex! Ode to joy is a very good choice to open this video. Thank you for all the great videos this year. It made a difference to my day during lockdown. The combination of watches and stunning locations in Italy is great. Have a merry Christmas and a happy new year!
A couple of tips, my friend: 1) The reason for the flute design is to give the bubbles less area from which to escape. It will be crisper to drink if you get a flute. 2) Holding a glass by the stem is for the waiter. I know, because I gained all of my wine knowledge while BEING the waiter in college. The gentleman should hold the glass by the body. You help us with watch knowledge. The least we can do is help you with the stuff we happen to know.
Fabulous video as usual. For the past couple of days I've rewatched the previous Rolex unboxing videos on the channel in preparation for this. Excellent stuff!
Only last Saturday I also was lucky enough to get my new Rolex Explorer II. I'm extremely happy as it is a nice contrast with my Sub. Merry Christmas to us, nice to treat ourselves with something special after a crappy year like this.
What I learned from my WSET Level 3 course (Wine & Spirit Education Trust) something I recommend all wine enthusiasts to take, if not level 3 take level 2. You have Traditional method which involves completing a 2nd fermentation in the bottle - this is Champagne, Cava and Franciorta. Then you have Tank method which is cheaper process and involves 2nd fermentation in a big tank - Prosecco and Lambrusco. Great video, I bought my first sub in Mar-2020 during the 1st wave and I am extremely happy as I prefer the more elegant bracelet of the old sub to this new wider bracelet.
Hey ! You and Archie are now watch pals! He just got himself one of these. :). Have a Merry Christmas and a great New Year. Thank you so much for all your fantastic work in 2020.
Great work, it’s amazing the difference in the feel with small changes. Take note guys , treat yourself during this tuff period if you can, I did , only a BB 58 blue but it has imported some joy and happiness in me. Great unboxing and cheers to everyone this Christmas. ❤️❤️👍🏻👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻
One of the best unboxing videos of 2020, great music, great videography, incredible setting,.... then you started swirling your champagne like a fine Bordeaux.... I left and went to the Swatch site.
I was expecting this one for so long... turning off the lights, pouring the wine, turning on the AC and enjoying the production. Congratulations on the watch and video!
Maybe those abrasions are from you laying the watch on the ground and on tables (if they’re steel tables) when you were taking your photos and videos?!
Merry Christmas! I want to share a Christmas story that has to do with you. A few weeks ago, I was re-watching one of my favorite of your videos: the Seiko Alpinist Sarb017 in Cortina. My wife (an Olympic skier) was taken by the beauty of your film and sat down next to me to enjoy the piece. I thought she was merely swept up by the majesty of the Dolomites as presented through your exquisite camera work and music (which she was) - but she's also clever that one. Sure enough, under the tree on Christmas morning was a brand new, unworn, Alpinist Sarb017! This is not the kind of watch I would normally purchase for myself (I'm a bit of a Rolex/Omega/Breitling snob), but I absolutely LOVE it! Thank you for your brilliant filmmaking - especially that one!
Perfectly executed video, I was actually sick with covid 19 and was only able to watch a few minutes when this video came out. I'm ok now and finally found time to watch this video from beginning to end. Gorgeous watch and something tells me when your AD calls you to pick up a 2021 Submariner identical to this one you will not hesitate to pick it up. Enjoy it in good health. 🙂
Perfect video. Love your content! This has me very excited to be getting my own soon as my AD has hinted I may be getting “the call” early next year to coincide with the birth of my first child. 👌🏼
Finally got the call, and celebrated by watching this video (again) while examining every nook and cranny of my new companion...and booze of course. By the way, my AD filled out my card with: day...month...year, right here in the heartland of America at that--maybe Rolex demands it! Thanks for all the great videos, cheers.
Congratulations on the new Sub. I had never pulled the glide lock completely out on mine but had to check to see if the AD missed that sticker as you illustrated. Sure enough, it’s still there after nearly 2 years on the wrist. ☺️ I love how much I learn from watching your content. Thank you for sharing.
A Merry Christmas to you from Texas. The AD called me Nov 21st for the 126610LN ... 5 months after getting on the list for the 116610LN. I'm glad I did not get the call for the 116610LN because I love the 3235 movement with enhanced 70 hour power reserve and the redesigned taper of the case to lug to bracelet proportions. I have heard several reviewers mention that the measured case diameter of the 116610 is 40.2mm vs 40.5mm for the 126610. The only negative comment is some hear the new rotor bearings. I have not heard the rotor bearing noise on my Sub.
Nice video, last month I picked up Cermit/StarBucks, Explorer 2 226570 white and lack dials new all came covered in original plastics which is the first time getting three Rolex being truly a full set, it felt weird though. I'm rocking all three with plastic and sized them myself. Eventually I will start removing the plastic here and there as I'm not a flipper. Some think they fake but as they look closely they have to ask how in the world you got them all still protected, they ask, I just smile without saying much.
That was a nice chat. Thanks for that. I just got this watch myself and am loving it. I traded my steel SD 43 because I decided I wanted something a little smaller but with the new movement. I really couldn't be happier. They got so much right with this watch. Previous Subs always seemed too small to me, but this one has the muscularity as you described with the slightly bigger case, wider bracelet and wider clasp (one of my favorite aspects is the wider clasp). The balance when worn is extraordinary, The SD was just too top heavy as a daily driver and the convex case back takes a bite of the wrist after a day of active wear. These are first class problems to have, of course, ha, but it is what it is when you get caught by this watch addiction. I almost got a maxi-sub because I sense how collectible they will be moving forward, but I can't look back after wearing this one. Enjoy yours and as always, thanks for the great content.
@@renkeschulenberg1596 I have the same size wrist. You should try them both on if you can and decide what you like best. I’ve typically had larger face watches in the past, but I love the new Sub 41. So comfortable and wears large on the wrist while being thinner and lighter.
@@renkeschulenberg1596 it is for me. After wearing the SD 43 for a year, I enjoy this smaller format. But it really doesn’t play much smaller. The main dimension I feel it is in the thickness. The back case of the SD digs into the wrist a bit for me. These are personal decisions. You should try them if you can. One thing I would add is the that 41 wears a lot like the previous Maxi-case which are easier to find for trying on than the 41s are. The main difference is in the lug shape and slight diameter difference on the face/bezel and then lastly the width of the bracelet. All of these things combine to make the fit and feel of this watch really, really great.
Beautiful! I was blessed today to get the call from my AD to pick up my new Tiffany Blue OP. I'll show everyone on my next show... Cheers Mate, and Merry Christmas!!! MK
Nice to see you treated yourself at the end of a rotten year. I managed to get hold of a new Steel 36mm OP with the silver dial and yellow gold hands and hour markers. Not quite a Subby, but it's a fine addition to my collection, and from an AD to boot. Keep up the great work sir.
The crown setting direction is probably related to the movement. Your older movements advance by spinning the crown forward. I have the dj41 and the new movement YM40 and they both advance by spinning the crown backwards. They also both have the new 71hr power reserve.
Just popped a bottle of Berlucchi Franciacorta (from your recommendation). Assolutamente! I was drinking J.Laurens 'Cremant de Limoux.' This blows that away! Grazie! And congratulations on your new elegance!!! Merry Xmas.
I just received the new Version from my AD and sold him back from previous maxi case. The new one is more sleek, elegant and sits on the wrist better. It’s a true winner. I also picked up the new bluesy from another AD two weeks ago
Suggestion only...My wife mentioned that when you were holding the watch while explaining the details. The constant moving of the watch in your hand made her dizzy, she was trying to focus on how nice it was. However, she is now buying me one, impressive film overall, merci, cheers!
I can confirm without a doubt, that the new card has all the private information on a chip in the card. When I bought my 214270 in October, I was unboxing it with my AD, and my phone was on the table, and the NFC part of my phone kept trying to connect to the warranty card. My AD, told me to just close the screen, and he entered all the info from his phone.
Congrats ! My brother and I watched this together. Our first time together since last Christmas, so I’m feeling very happy today. Thanks for an inspiring year of travelogues and videography and more importantly, the tales.
I'm on the waitlist myself for the No Date Sub and I went to my local AD in Copenhagen, Denmark on December 23 to check in. I did of course not get to the Sub, but tried on the Omega Seamaster 300M with the white dial and fell absolutely in love with it. With a new great job in 2020 and a new apartment coming up in January 2021 (on top, I haven't even celebrated my divorce properly yet;-)) I have plenty to celebrate and bought the Omega. It was actually quite refreshing going to an AD and leaving with my chosen watch:-). Looking forward to much more great watch content in 2021/Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
I was in my AD the other week and I was asking about the new 41 Sub. He said they have had loads in and he then went in the back and brought one out for me to look at! I’m trying to get hold of a new 41 OP.
I like the black seamaster, with or without date. The cyclops doesn't bother me, infact at 63 y/o it is of value to me. FWIW saw some of your bands youtube videos, you had/have a great band. Living south of NYC in Toms River, NJ. If I known could have probably caught one of your shows. Also I love to watch your video's before I go to sleep or ready to crash, all positive, great views of Venice and the music is relaxing. This new year has to be better, getting a covid shot this week or next, lost my wife, had a hip replacement. But my daughter graduated pharmacy school and is working. And I'm back to work. I look forward to the future. And maybe someday, a Submariner. Only Rolex I have is an Explorer, but have a few Tudors and love the Pelagos.
@@jockdodson9093Thank you! There was an unbeatable offer for the quartz version with the White dial and an artwork by Max Bill on the bottom. It has the Date function. Go for the sapphire one.
Quite simply the best watch content on You Tube. New Patreon member as well. Keep up the great work and thank you. I love my DJ41 Blue Dial but celebrated Christmas early with a new watch purchase today - the CASIO G-SHOCK GMW-B5000TB-1JR Black Titanium - The OG as they say - I am a bit of a G shock nerd and have been after this one for a while to add to my square collection. Super psyched. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Do what I did; I went out with my AD sales girl, she's a little thicker for my taste, but I got my DateJust, 41mm blue face a day later.
Omega is a damn fine watch, wear and enjoy in good health. My 2010 version still looks great and stops me from wanting a Submariner Date.

The older subs from the mid 80’s with 3035 movement reference 16800 also would set the time that way . Congratulations and merry Christmas 🎁🎄
Lovely new watch! congratulations. Thanks for all your excellent content this year, you have a lot of fans here in the Middle East.
Bracelet’s a bit too chunky for me. Glad I was able to snag one of the final 11. Merry Christmas Oisin.
Congratulations on the new watch, thanks for the video!
I was in my AD the other week and I was asking about the new 41 Sub. He said they have had loads in and he then went in the back and brought one out for me to look at! I’m trying to get hold of a new 41 OP.
Just a really nice talk and discussion without any stuffiness. Bravo on the new Sub41!!
Merry Christmas from Canada. Looking forward to your unboxing of a Panerai. Stay safe.
Congrats on the unobtainium!! Beautiful video as always
Lovely cinematography at the start 🙂 Congrats and Merry Christmas!
The best videography and content of all watch reviews! Well done! Merry Xmas!
Congratulations! By the way, I unpacked my Junghans Max Bill today.
Great watch! Is it the Black or the White dial? Automatic? Date or no Date? I am thinking about swapping the crystal for a sapphire one.
@@jockdodson9093Thank you! There was an unbeatable offer for the quartz version with the White dial and an artwork by Max Bill on the bottom. It has the Date function. Go for the sapphire one.
@Spanish John Thank you!
Die Hard vibes with that opening music sequence!!
This was a classier unboxing than Archie did 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
There were no carpet beetles though =(
Archie needs to a little showprep
Timeless Watch Channel and Archibald Chesterfield III need to do a live show. They also need to invite Jeni Elle. That'd be a great show!
Excellent video, thank you for sharing the bubbly and your new watch. The scenery is terrific. The very best to you throughout 2021. Merry Christmas.
merry christmas oisin! enjoy the watch!
The Timeliness Watch Channel posts a video I hit like, play, and sit back and enjoy. Merry Christmas Oisin and wonderful video as always. Stay safe brother🎅
