Somebody send this video to Ubisoft because their games used to have pretty good animations in the 2010s now most of their games have stiff robotic animations. Assassin's Creed hasn't had consistently good animation work since Unity/ Syndicate. And the most recent games like Star Wars Outlaws has so many awkward animations
As a game dev and 3d Modeler / animator this now cuts out the need of Blender! thank you soooo much Epic Games! and this is why UE is the best game Engine, i've made 3 games and working on my 4th now, within the time it took me to make 1 game on Unity!
WE're at a point where graphics now are fine at it is. Physics, animation, interaction on the other hand ? Didn't really evolve during those 10+ years.
Graphics, lighting and atmosphere in games have come a long way in the past decade but animations are still more or less the same they are in dire need of an upgrade.
Yes but the thing is Rockstar's Rage Engine is made and optimized for their style of game. They also build features for their game in the engine on the fly to their needs and in some cases it causes a lot of problem. Which is what exactly happened to RDR 1. They implemented features in the engine on the fly and the code for the engine and the game become really messy. So messy that making a PC port for RDR 1 will take a lot of time and Resources. So they didn’t even bothered making a PC port for RDR 1 until now (According to Rumours). So sometimes they just use work arounds for advanced systems and the features are not multi-purposable at all. On the other hand, Unreal engine is made for everyone. So that any one can make any type of game in so many ways using their all features available. Also it has to be optimized and bug free for General People who are unable to change the Engine's Source Code.
Yes but how many people were required to make it work, how many man hours, systems and processes were created and maintained for this. The goal here is to streamline and make these features more accessible rather than creating new things, it's about giving those things to more people.

But would love if they went with UE for this one as they can push the visuals further
Because the engines those companies use are very specific to the needs of the games they make, whereas unreal engine is open for everyone in the world to use, so it has to be able to do everything. But what can their engines do that unreal can’t?

Not a Suprise in the future you need a supercomputer for playing a very simple game since Unreal Engine Monopoly destroyed all other Engines and you have no other options to just buy new powerful PC (perfect strategy with hardware company like Nvidia for taking more money from their number one partner Epic Games).
