    Look at how balanced and how fluent he is. No modern day fighter has come forward and done a one inch punch or a side kick as good as Bruce Lee. He was one of a kind that I'm afraid either we wont see again or wont see in a long time.

    Trained from the legendary Ip Man, to become a true legend and household name, No one will ever be able to copy, imitate and yet alone gain the respect, honor and skill that Bruce Lee has attained over his short time in this world. To have such an influence many years after his death as well is symbolic of his power and spirit that will live on for many more years to come. I miss you Bruce, your story and name will live on forever, you are truly a legend.

    Facts unbelievably mix with rumors when it comes to Bruce Lee's fighting abilities. The man had no win / loss fighting record like professional fighters do, which usually rises many questions about whether he was a true fighter or not. Either way, let's just agree that he had incredible physical abilities and unparalleled charisma, and above all he definitely paved the way for what is known nowadays as mixed martial arts.

    Yes, Bruce Lee was an amazing athlete and an innovative martial arts practitioner but here's a reality check for those of you who may have forgotten a simple fact: He is remembered for being an ACTOR in martial arts movies more than he is simply for martial arts expertise. All of these action fight sequences in the movies are choreographed and really more like a dance production than a battle. They are about as real as a bar room brawl in a John Wayne movie. It's pure fantasy.

    • @zebrion5793
      @zebrion5793 9 лет назад +12

      While you're correct that he is more well known for being an actor and that the fights are choreographed, he had the chops to be a real fighter. Before he god into movies, he was a streetfighter first and foremost. When he was young, most of his life was spent in and around gangs who would regularly fight each other in street battles. He developed Jeet Kun Do as a result of that background, opting for a collection of more practical moves and less of the flashy ones.
      People also revere him for his physical strength, speed and endurance. His training regimen is something that not many people can keep up with, even today with the assistance of performance enhancers. His speed and dexterity are legendary. He had the ability to throw grains of rice into the air and catch them between chopsticks. He did one finger push ups and one arm pullups like they were nothing.
      He was so fast that when he was filming with the green hornet, the cameras at the time weren't able to keep up with his movements. They quite literally asked him to slow down so they could film it. He complied, resulting in the nearly invisible blur you see in the final product. He was most likely the closest thing earth has seen to a superhuman. Few people realize exactly how good he was, because he rarely fought anyone. The few times fans insisted on challenging him, they were embarassed. Of the 3 documented times this occurred on set for a film, not one of those people landed a single blow on him.
      He had to have his personal training equipment custom built, because the normal versions weren't sturdy enough. The average heavy bag at that time weighed about 150 pounds, and was burlap filled with sand. Bruce would routinely tear them apart within a few days at maximum. His heavy bags were especially hand made for him, and were 2 layers thick. They weighed 300 pounds and were lined with metal underneath the burlap and padding on the outside.
      He was an incredible human being, both physically and mentally that advanced the progression of martial arts in a way that no one has done since. There's a reason why just about any MMA fighter you talk to will list him as their primary influence. Bruce Lee was a 135 pound monster, and if you put him in a fight with anyone near his weight class, he would either knock them out or submit them in the first round.

    • @JackKangaroo1
      @JackKangaroo1 9 лет назад

      Paul Lamey Undoubtedly Bruce engaged in some street battles growing up but it is impossible to document these conflicts. It is also impossible to assess the skill levels of his opponents in those fights. The accepted definition of "super human ability" is for someone to have an ability to do something that no one else on the planet is known to be able to duplicate. From what I've seen of Bruce Lee's martial arts exhibitions, I suspect that his punching and kicking reflexes have not been duplicated by anyone, thereby possibly qualifying him as "super human." In much the same way the late Bob Munden could fast draw a Colt .45 single action revolver, cock it, fire it at a target, cock it, fire it again and hit a second target all in two-tenths of one second. It happened so fast that you only hear one gunshot and the targets appear to get hit at the same time. Only when doing a slo-mo playback are they seen as a separate action. Bob Munden was also considered super human because nobody else could duplicate this ability. [There are videos of this on RUclips]
      I have much respect for the late Mr. Lee and he brought new levels of dedication and self-discipline to the martial arts. But to my knowledge his dominance as a fighter was never truly tested against a high level martial arts opponent in a sanctioned tournament of any kind. In such a contest even Bruce Lee would have gotten hit and hit hard, something he was unaccustomed to because of his speed and the fact that movie fights aren't real fights. Perhaps he would have kicked ass on all comers, perhaps not. We'll never know for sure.

    Anyone who's done serious research about bruce lee knows he was the greatest martial artist/fastest/most powerful pound for pound fighter of all time. No one has ever come close to the speed/brutal force and technique(not in the formal standard of one specific type of fighting) but in the overall no rules street fighting. No one comes close. No one will ever come close. I am sick of people saying oh it was just his movies that gave somewhat of a false perspective of his true skill and unbelievably unmatched technique. Bruce was as close as it came to a superhuman as it gets. Thank you. - JKD obsessed martial artist along with Wing Chung Jui Jitsu Wrestling and Muy Thai. Long live the immortal dragon.

    Master Lee was ahead of his time ! Best Latissimus dorsi ever, was a precursor of bodybuilding and fitness, father of mma. As a philosopher he was intriguing and very aware and adapting like water. He is still a Legend and an inspiration for us all.
    Bruce Lee : "I don't believe in system, nor in method and without system, without method, what's to teach?"
    Here is the cause of the ignorance :
    Liberate yourself from all kind of thoughts, be empty, be like water! To liberate is to see, and then you'll know. Fight when you have to, emotional content is what is needed.

    Фильмы с Брюс Ли в те годы, как они появились посмотрели миллионы людей.
    Я с удовольствием посмотрю еще. Спорить можно много какой он боец, сидя за клавиатурой. Но он был одним из лучших актеров те времен в кино о боевых искусствах. Я читал, что в его библиотеке были собраны около более тысячи книг и рукописей о боевых искусствах, его тренером был мастер.
    Многие уже наверное не помнят, а некоторое и не слышали про: Бенни Уркидеса, Бил Уоллеса, Чак Нориса. Которые реально бились на разных соревнованиях в контакт.

    For all the people saying Bruce lacked a record so you can't say he is a good fighter. Well look at the people who did have a record. Let's just say chuck Norris for example. He had an amazing record and was a well renowned fighter it even showed in his stats of tournaments, but he even said that in a fight with Bruce lee he wouldn't stand A chance. And if he didn't have a record why did fighters respect him so much? Because they questioned him and his fighting abilities and then he proved him self in personal fighting lessons. Sure he didn't have a record which leaves room for doubt but you can't dismiss the fact that other professional and great fighters said themselves they wouldn't stand a chance.

      chris Tapia ...He didn't have a record because he didn't believe in sanctioned competetive sports - but full contact street fighting , combat - AS IT IS - moron...
