Hi folks, we've updated this video to correct a minor spelling error and to improve our discussion of orthopnea.
Osmosis

Osmosis please make video on EDEMA please my exams are near nd i can't understand it.. With help of you i can .. So please
Amazing job! You make pathology so chocolaty😋
so to make this clear : orthoapnea is causes by gravity effect which leads to more blood pooling into the lungs (congestion) which eventually leads to increased hydro static pressure in the capillaries, making more fluid leaking into lungs and hindering the o2 co2 exchange / travelling to blood stream, correct?
Me learning medicine from RUclips!!
Enjoy! 🧐 🤓

Doctor iyhere on youtube *cured me of Edema* with his herbal medicine within 4 weeks, it so effective
we are all doing the same
us moment bud
God Bless you for this !!!
Granted i have had hypertension and high blood pressure in which i have under total control now,
I got a new place in Florida where the humidity is at an " insane " 95% average,
I also have asthma, which makes it even worst to deal with,. and certainly makes it look like a " heart issue "
I am writing this to everyone " who knows it isn't your heart ",
Trust your gut, the damn doctors there tried to treat me like a " fancy guinea pig " from NYC.
I took every test, which was conclusive to cardiology issues, with a resounding " negative ",
they literally tried to convince me to shove a camera to " take a look at my heart ", when there was nothing wrong with it.
I knew something was up, when they ignored all my request for a " respiratory specialist "
and thanks to this video, everything is explained in a nutshell.
I am not encouraging anyone to ignore medical advice,
However i am saying don't ignore your better Judgment Either.
Thank God I listen to my Soul.
You explained this so much better than my teacher could.
Thanks for the feedback! 🙏🏼
Fantastic info. So simple yet concise and perfect for anyone not from a med background looking for answers. Thank you.

Why is the heart blurred in the beginning of the video?
That's not the heart but idk why it's blurred
Stephen Swanson I was literally thinking the same thing he might of messed up on something.. idk
its the aveoli
Thank you, for answering some questions that were pressing in a way I can move forward, precious.
Glad it was helpful! 🙏🏼
There is a blur in the beginning, which blocks important structures of the alveoli sacs. Otherwise, it's a great video!
Hi! Thank you for pointing this out! We'll have our team review this part of the video! 💖
this short video was more informative and useful than my teacher's 1:30 hours lecture THANK U
Glad it was helpful!! 💫 🥰 💖
Important to point out that telling the difference between Pulmonary Edema and Pneumonia from an xray can be extremely difficult, plus physical symptoms are often indistinguishable. Treating someone for Pneumonia when in fact they have Pulmonary Edema, Deadly !
could checking a CBC distinguish between the 2?
@@sheila8092 Thank you for your comment. This is an area of medicine that is extremely close to me, as I lost my Father in 2020 to suspected post op Aspiration double pneumonia. I was suspicious of the doctor's prognosis at the time. The autopsy revealed no trace of any variant of pneumonia. He had an elevated WBC which could certainly indicate an infection. However type of medication or stress can also trigger an elevated WBC.
Another possible way would be a Thoracentesis procedure, though this carries it's own risks.
The edema should produce more wet sounds (fine or course crackles) and then you got to go to fever, SBAR, WBC count, medical history
@@Ishmiester Thank you so much. Will research more into your data. Kindest Regards
We need more singns and symptoms to diagnosed Pulmonary odema
I think like pink or red, frothy sputum
Tachycardia and tachypnea, crepitation on auscultation ect.
Can we use Diuretics for Pulmunary Edema
Thanks for making this info available. It doesn't sound as bad as I thought
Glad to help! 😊
@@osmosis Yours is the ONLY medical educational channel I've seen which bothers to monitor their comments, *_much less on a video that's over 4 YEARS OLD._* I can't begin to stress how impressed & *GRATEFUL* I am for you!
I came across this bc I've been SOB for the past 5 years after having a suspected M.I. I've been coughing up white, foamy phlegm for 2 years & can't be on my feet longer than a few minutes (or even sit for long periods) bc my feet swell so badly, even though I'm on diuretics. My doctor has me on a calcium channel blocker, a beta blocker, too, but I feel there's got to be more that can be done for me: My quality of life is zero. I'm nearly an invalid & can't even manage to do my own shopping (though I have no money, so that wouldn't matter, lol). They keep asking me every time at the doctor if I'm depressed & I answer, "Wouldn't you BE?", and they just laugh. I really don't know what to do. I've cut everyone out of my life bc I feel so useless. My daughter & her family (all my grandkids) just moved 1k miles away & I'm about to become homeless (I've been given 60 days to move & I have no income, can't work & have no money, no car). Seven years ago my doctor put on disability, but the state & the federal gov't rejected it. I lived off of savings & that ran out years ago. There just isn't help for ppl like us who have worked our whole lives, but got terrible medical care and/or advise & have NO WHERE TO TURN. I'm 61 years old & feel like my life has been for nothing. I haven't been out of my apt for 3 months. I KNOW that I helped create this for myself, but now Idk where to turn. With my health so bad, I MUST get that fixed FIRST. HOW do I do THAT? I've lost over 60lbs in the past year & my access to food is limited. Now that I see this written down, I see how dire my situation really is. Not having anyone to talk to about this has truly hampered me, I guess (ya think, LOL?).
*Thank You SO Much & Many Blessings to You ALL!* (I will make some calls tmrw)
It's actually a lot worse, being out of breath while walking slow in 100 meters and not able to sleep for days is super bad

Hope you are doing better
The first time it happened to me I felt it coming on but didn't know why but luckily I was already in the hospital when it occurred.. I've suffered 4 times with pulmonary edema because my blood pressure was sky high.. I never wanna go through this again and wouldn't wish it upon anyone.. It's terrifying of an experience
Very interesting and worthwhile video.
Many thanks, Robert! 😊

NIV with high PEEP is usually used in Emergency Department in my country for the cardiac failure, chronic renal failure patients and hypertensive emergency patients in my country. I was expecting an explanation on it's benefit. Anyways. Good video.
Doctor iyhere on youtube *cured me of Edema* with his herbal medicine within 4 weeks, it so effective
There is no explanation because NIV is not a good treatment for patients with PE. NIV uses BiPAP to shift the choking point in patients with bronchial collapse (which is often the case in patients with COPD), so the apical shift is less prominant. CPAP is a good treatment option for PE in combination with diuretics etc. I think that NIV is often (mis)used for PE because it’s a good treatment for many other types of hypercapnic respiratory failure.
As simple as that,good explanation
Thanks! 🥰

Hi Anne! You're welcome! 💖
is pulmonary edema the same as CHF?
Not the same, but it can be caused by CHF
@Osmosis Hellooooooooooo, why did you guys blur out the alveoli? A few people have commented about it and you haven't responded. You wanted to make a video teaching people, but how can they learn if something is blurred out? This isn't Saudi Arabia.
very nice

Our pleasure, Alan! 🥰
Found your video because I’ve been having symptoms. Idk if it’s from me getting covid 4 months ago or if it’s because I drink alcohol or if it’s because I have heart failure.
I wake up with coughing attacks and when I’m going to bed I can hear fluid but I can’t cough it up. My doctor took an X-ray but couldn’t see anything concerning. Of course when I got up for the day and for the appointment, the fluid sounds and the coughing stopped.
I’ve been prescribed an inhaler (Flovent) and it works but I’m worried I have pulmonary edema.
Anyone have suggestions? What should my next step be? Thanks.
Tbh you are at the point of more questions than answers. It will be best to keep a journal. Foods you eat. Sleep. Any drinking /smoking and when attacks are worse. Pets/ etc. So there's two things you would want to look into (with a health professional of course) first. Allergies (many people develop or have unknown allergies). And GERD. It's common for nighttime cough sufferers to be suffering an overlooked case of acid reflux, heart burn, or GERD. Esp. If you wake up with a severe cough, burning throat, and fluid in your lungs. Eating too much, too close to bed time, and too acidic of a diet can contribute to this. Ruling out lactose intolerance would be good, and then just avoiding dairy as a test, because dairy is going to exaggerate and trigger your symptoms regardless of the cause. Also food allergies can develop later in life. Esp. Gluten. Which can lead to heart burn which can lead to GERD which can lead to these episodes after or during sleeping. Which can also lead to lung infection (bacterial) like bronchitis or pneumonia. Alcohol could also be a factor. It's highly acidic and can cause GERD or exaggerate its symptoms esp. If it's consumed close to bed time. And esp. In quantities exceeding a glass of wine, or two beers. If alcohol is a common habit in one's lifestyle it can lead to liver damage, and possibly hepatitis b, which can also damage the body's ability to process Gluten. There's a connection between Alcoholism, Liver Damage, Gluten intolerance, Celiac Disease, and eventually Cancer. So go over all of these possibilities and scenarios with a couple of different doctors and a nutritionist. Don't skip the nutritionist angle. Many Doctors are just general practitioners and thus gatekeepers for the specialists. Things that dont show up on lab tests rarely get addressed. Good Luck! And keep in mind this is all just my unprofessional opinion. This is not medical advice. I merely have given you a plethora of ideas to discuss with your Doctor or other licensed medical professionals.
great job thanks
Cardiogeni causes
Non-cardiogenic causes
Could this cause death.
Can diuretics also be given?
Of course. Furosemide always helps and it lowers the blood pressure.
