Man, i dont know how i did this when i was 11 and memorized every fold, now i just know how to make a crane. I miss the old days

It's hard to make a tutorial on how to create complex origamis, But to put it shortly, you need to think how to make the head first, then you have to adjust the head to the neck, then imagine how to make the body according to the neck, and the tail is the last part because it's easy to improvise.

  • @tadashimori
    @tadashimori  12 лет назад +1

Actually I don't think what technique I'm using. I just try to find out what's the best way to make each part.
If we were to analyze the CP, It's basically box pleated body, several circle packings to make the head (one on each horn, two to make the the mouth and one for the space to make the eyes).
There's no explanation for the wings... And the tail is just the result of the body pox pleating.

I had a problem when uploading this video in 1080p =/.... So I re-uploaded it in lower quality because the 1080p video would take 30 hours to complete the upload.

Thank you very much for this very easy to follow tutorial how to fold your fantastic dragon. I enjoyed folding along and the resulting dragon is just cute! The reason I folded this version and not the 2.0 is that I like the look of it better, but I might give the other version a try as well. Thanks again for a great model and for making it available to us.

  • @metropolisisawesome

basically what you have to do is squash the two lines nearest the middle, which leaves a flap going upwards. Using the little angle-bisecter fold made just before this step, you fold it like a tsuru (crane) base, and fold the tip down, leaving the flap hanging upwards. This will allow you to flatten the model by folding this flap to either side.

I know it's crazy, but I imagine a sheet of paper and try to distribute each part of the origami in the plain paper (Without folding it). After I make the distribution I mentally try lots of different folds using the distribution I thought. At this part you finish imagining the base for the crease pattern.
After that I start folding a real paper, and add the details to the origami.

1.0 is easier. In 2.0 there is a step where you have to divide the paper into thirds which is really annoying to do.

The paper distribution is similar, thats why it looks like the ancient dragon. But if you see the CP and the process to make the dragon its completely different.
It's not the ancient dragon base. Look the crease pattern and you can confirm it.

We don't need your crap about what he named it. It is his design and we can assume that he does/did not intend for it to sound racist at all. He probably named it like that to make it sound awesome like it is. If you are going to make rude comments like this, then don't watch. We don't need bullcrap from people like you who give bullcrap comments.

  • @Starwarskid61

I try to make it with 35x35 cm paper. It was harder to make the details because it was a little to small, but I succeeded. The only thing that he needs to improve in his version 1.1 is to be more specific and detailed on the dragons head.

Learn this as a video tutorial maker, no matter how boring TO YOU the part might seem, you can't skip it. Ever. This part especially 5:02 -> 5:38. Yes it might seem simple, but some people like me actually need to see how you continue to fold it from that point on where you skip. Cause I folded it the wrong way around and the whole thing got screwed so I had to start all over again.

na verdade pouco importa a lingua que ele usa/fala pra explicar o origami, pq origami ja eh algo praticamente "universal". (notem as aspas haters)

I'm sorry, but you don't know what you're saying. The base is totally different and he is not angry with Kamiya. It would be very childish, and Tadashi is not a child. Tadashi spent so much time thinking about this origami because it requires much skill and knowledge to create an origami. If he had copied the Ancient, he would have done long ago time, because he always wanted to create a dragon.

Does it matter what kind of paper you use to make this particular model? You say thin paper works good, but what does that include? I have regular origami paper that comes with an origami book, is that too thick?
