I love this man's content so long ago too see how much he has grown is great. If he really ever wants an underbelly story unlike any other, I got him and a tale never told. Change Lives one day. I just moved to WV as a city kid been a year an im ready go back to city hahs.@whiteunderbelly
Thank you, Mark, and all the other folk involved, for doing this valuable work. You've changing lives, by shinning a light on all the forgotten and misunderstood folk, who just get eaten up by an uncaring system. God bless you all.
It took one man to change the lives of so many. Mark, you have all the markings of a saint and you have opened a window for the rest of us to look at what acceptance and humanity is all about. You took a family and lifted them to another level of happiness. You have a caring nature that is pure of heart and the Whittaker family know this too. I have seen many of your videos and you maintain the same standards with every single person you are with. People like you are incredibly rare and I am just so very glad I got to witness what you do. When I see this family,I don't see disability or mental health issues, I see a family unity that is strong and supportive. They love each other and if you are lucky enough to be invited into thier lives,it is a lifetime bond.
Thank you for the kind comment Nick. If anything, I’m glad I’m helping the world see others differently. Whether it’s a poverty stricken family in Appalachia or a drug addict, a gang member or a prostitute, we all could use a little compassion for those we don’t understand and if my work helps us do that then I’m pleased. Have a great holiday weekend everyone.
@nikkir3637 I loved seeing this too! I also loved seeing him working on a page in what was clearly his coloring book and a nice sized supply of what looks to be colored pencils or adult color Crayons!!!
Timmy had no handicap At all growing up. In his late 20s he smoked marijuana a couple times and this is what it did to him. The same with Lorraine. She was completely normal and an RN. For 20 years. Smoked the reefer once and she’s been like fbis ever since.
It's interesting how the first meeting with the Whitaker's, everything seemed so dark and almost had a scary feel obviously due to their uncertainty. Now, however, they and even their home seems so much brighter. It's nice to see them smile and have a good time but it's nicer to see them know that they can trust someone. They've undoubtedly led tough lives and have been abused by this cruel world but have found a friend in Mark. People may laugh but these are some of the most kind-hearted and genuine people on the planet. They deserve to find some peace and happiness out of life .
The difference between this visit, and one of Mark's first times by their porch, is just night and day. Back then, they were in soiled clothes, and barely anyone was able to speak a word, they were so derelict. Now they have their grandsons over, Ray's beaming proud of his new shoes, and they're Much more outgoing. You've helped them so much Mark, and I'm happy to have been along for the ride thus far as a subscribing member. Thank you for all the great that you do!
They were shy, and now they see Mark as gifts and money. He does have to pay these people for their exploitation. At least, I pray he does. They need the help.
Thats what I think as well but maybe enough people from that area see these videos to actually acknowledge the Whittakers when they are seen in public, which would be a huge difference from before the video interviews @@edie4321
@@edie4321he does. He pays them. Gets them stuff for the house, he got the siding and roof done on their house. He has an interview with Joe Rogan talking about the Whittaker’s.
I don't catch every video so I may have missed some info, but I'm wondering if any relatives, or anybody, has crawled out of the woodwork because they think there may be some money to be had by association?
Serving others occurs in various ways. Paying for content showing empathy and compassion hopefully widens peoples perspective and hearts. What Mark does is not exploitation at all it is a huge gift to society!
I am a 53 yo grown ass man sitting here with watered up eyes and fist pumping through the entire 2nd half of this video. I am so proud of the work you continue to do to help this family. If nothing else you show the world that one Man can affect so many in a wonderful way. God Bless You Brother.
Ditto, except I am a 63 yo female. My kids were over watching it and I reminded them whenever you have a bad day, just remember how many things you were able to do and see the Whittakers are enjoying it probably for the first time in their lives. I catch myself smiling all the way through the videos. Thank you for making the family happy. I also want to thank you for taking care of the one-legged dog.
Ray hugging Mark right away, I lost it. I’m really glad that their younger family members come see them, it’s so obvious how they all light up with a baby around. I’m incredibly grateful that viewers come visit and are kind to them. Betty is clearly ecstatic over her new friends and they deserve every bit of love being shown to them. Thanks for the update and all that you do for them, Mark. I have fallen in love with them and have to rewatch their videos every few months when I start missing them.
Lauren is an absolute sweetheart. She has a heart of gold. You can see she cares so much for these people, especially Timmy. You are a good person Lauren, be proud of who you are and what you mean to the Whittakers.
@@xulphyteshe seems awkward at first but then you see how she’s very gentle and understanding especially with timmy. you can tell that he trust her a lot and seems to enjoy her company.
It's confusing to me since he was obviously exploiting them in the first videos, and was even run off by a concerned neighbor. Maybe they appreciate the exposure he's given them? I'm sure plenty of compassionate people have reached out.
I love working in memory care, and she immediately remind me of so many sweet ladies I've had the pleasure of caring for and being friends with. Such a sweetie :)
I'm French , i don't understand perfectly english but their facial smile , their attitude , they are in peace in their beautiful Virginia ! It's a sweet family , it's good to see that in our sad time ! Love you all Whittaker family and all american people too !
@@karaburch7611 Unfortunately it's generational around that area. West Virginia is known for it. The extremely extremely poor folks. It goes back years and years. Not their fault they were born into it.
I have what would be considered an average everyday family and I wish we cared for each other like this family does. I don't even speak to my "family" anymore because of what selfish terrible people they are. They only help themselves and if someone has fallen on hard times instead of helping them they choose to gossip about them. It must be nice to have a family that's close and who care about each other. I wish I had that more than anything, especially because I have a son and he doesn't even know my family. It's sad.
@@none_ya001 It also is prominent in the middle-east among Muslims.... There are videos on RUclips of adult children in the Middle East like Pakistan and Afghanistan where the children are blind, deaf and mute except they can kind of yell out. It's terrible. But it does go on in other countries and cultures.
I love seeing Lorraine smile this way. This was such a treat for them. My ❤ goes out to Lorraine. She's been through so much. Anyway, I'm really glad they had this happy day
It was great to see Ray with a big smile on his face. Imagine how Ray sees the world. He is cautious ( refused to put his arm inside the window), appears to know his limits (would not ride the spinning or scary rides), yet he loved being out and seeing the carnival. The whole family had fun, although Granny may have walked a bit too much! Thanks for caring so much about the invisible people of the world we share.
The stall owner is an absolute legend with great vibes. What a professional. Great to see a family that has been pushed out (through no fault of their own) accepted and helped back to an acceptable standard of living. Keep up the good work guys
I don't know if the dart game guy was paid extra to start with or if he let them all win out of the kindness of his heart but either way it was great to see them all win and be excited about the win and proud of themselves. Usually when I try that dart game the balloons blow around a lot, I suspect there's a fan involved. Lol I can always win at the guns that shoot pellets shoot out all of the star game though.
They really did do great popping those balloons at the dart game and the man was so sweet and understanding. If all humans could act this way towards others especially those with difficulties the world would be a better place
What a difference one man has made in the lives of an entire family who most people would avoid. It's amazing how they were suspicious at first and how they now welcome Mark like a family member. The quality of life they were living was a bit shocking until Mark began helping them. You can see how much happier they are and even their communication skills have improved tremendously. I wish I had someone like Mark in my life to change things for my family, but these people really needed him. God bless you Mark.
I dont necessarily think most would avoid them. It's just that they live so far away lol. I wouldn't mind visiting and helping any way I could. Getting there is an entirely different obstacle. Plus you're not supposed to be randomly, "bothering", them. I know local law enforcement does not want random people just showing up out of the blue, with camera in hand like they're some museum display.
@@joesmith1830so there's always one person to point out that there's some alternative agenda. Would you rather them be completely ignored and not helped? Sure, he makes money off of the vids, but I don't think he means to exploit them. Theyve benefited in more ways then financially from it. He's known them for 20 yrs. At this point, he's technically family.
Timmy has it going on. Gets to hang out with a pretty girl and ride these rides. It’s awesome seeing how much fun they all had at the fair. Mark you have blessed that family with so much because of your project.
When Timmy, who is my favourite, won his prize he was as happy as an athlete who'd just won a Gold medal at the Olympics. I'm not sure what the prize was, a banana?, but I doubt he let go of it for the rest of the day. I don't know if Timmy's got a crush on the girl, I can never remember her name, but he seems to want to be beside her every chance he gets. 😂 not that I blame him, she's very attractive.
I loved Ray took his D out before entering the toilet, then roaring when walking towards the urinoir with his D out so the other customer instantly left. @@patriciagamble7137
Actions speak louder than words when it comes to ray. To have him come up to you for a hug clearly shows how grareful and happy he is for everything you guys have done for him and his family.
Timmy looks so happy on those swings. He just has the biggest smile as he closes his eyes and sits and enjoys the company of others who enjoy him. It's really a beautiful thing to see. You've done such a fantastic job with this family and have given them such a better opportunity at life. Y'all are all good freaking people the lot of you
God Bless! This family has seen and done more in the lives since you and your crew have entered theirs! Thank you for showing them the way! Ray, Timmy and Lorrain never stopped smiling! 😊💟👍
I was cheering and clapping when they all were throwing the darts and winning!! Lorraine's excitement brought me to tears! She didn't even want to throw it at first, she kept trying to get Betty to throw it. When she threw it the second time and popped the balloon and pulled Betty's shirt in excitement was so freaking beautiful. I'm in tears at how excited she was! She has come a long way since the first videos. And I am so happy that they all are experiencing things in life that they would not have experienced if Mark wasn't in their lives. Thank you Mark for all that you continue to do for this amazing family!!
Mark has given this family an opportunity to have the world see and understand them. Under normal circumstances a lot of people in the USA are unfamiliar with how our extremely rural citizens live from day to day. These videos help people see that no matter who you are, and where you go, people just want to be around family, friends, and have a good time with each other. Being from Virginia, we always joke about how backward WV is but really it’s such a beautiful state. Seeing Ray light up when he saw Mark just gave me a smile that I needed today.
This is really sad to me. More so than even skid row addicts because these people seem born into this lifestyle and have no opportunity to escape. I hope AI forces society onto basic income so the situation can improve for this family and those like them.
Being from WV myself nor my family joke about where others live or where they are from. I guess we just know better and do better here in wild, wonderful WV.
@@willsmith39 yeah, living in ignorance is far better. He's literally taken nothing from them and helped them more than you've ever helped anybody except yourself. People like you always talk shit about people trying to do a little good , but never actually contribute anything yourselves. Guarantee you look the other way when a homeless person or a person with disabilities are near. Sad fact of life is that if you want to make a life helping people, you have to be able to fund that life. He brings awareness to the varieties of people in this world because ignorance is killing us, and he helps them financially, either with his own money or through crowdfunding. If you haven't noticed, this channel brings out the best in people, both from audience and the interviewed. Most people would just call his subjects trash and go on with their lives without insight like he provides. And you are likely no exception. go be miserable somewhere else.
Awesome seeing Lorraine throwing darts. Seeing them all, especially the non-verbal, in such a setting paint another layer of their wonderful personalities for us viewers.
The balloon guy reminded me of people when we were kids. Some people just "get it" and he was one of those guys. It's nice to see that there are still people like that in the world.
They just love spending time with you and Lauren. The minute Ray sees you, his face lights up with such joy. Thank you for going out of your way to put smiles on this beautiful and unique family's faces.❤❤❤
Ray whipping it out in the middle of the gas station, before charging into the restroom and screaming at the dude already at the urinal to move is the manliest thing I've ever seen.
Ofcourse he working on a fair it is his job to make money on disabled people and on kids but at 30:15 he made me pretty mad because Ray did clearly want the mushroom!
When Ray pointed at the tv, I was so glad! I noticed in a previous video that the tv needed fixed/replacing. Looks like that got taken care of for him. ❤
The difference in the family from the first video to now is incredible! Amazing what a little kindness and empathy can do. They deserve to be treated with dignity just the same as anyone else! It was so touching to see the childlike wonder in all of them today, especially Timmy!

It is so kind of you to look past the families disabilities and treat them like the human beings they are, just like the rest of us. If only the rest of the world could be so kind and patient like you are. Thank you so much Mark.
Absolutely!! If it wasn't for Mark this family may have never got to known the simple things like the fair, haircuts, and a trip to walmart...Mark is a true benefactor of humanity to these people!!
@@paulinev1757I’m pretty sure he doesn’t care about how many views it’ll get, u can tell he’s a got a soft spot them. You could hear it from mark when he was on the joe Rogan podcast. Mark didn’t talk about them much even tho Rogan ask about them.
He cares about the Whitakers and also the views. It's ok for us to be honest about that. It's obvious in the thumbnail, but that doesn't mean he's mocking them. He's been following and connecting with this family for years and has always shown them genuine love, while also being as fascinated by them as we are.
This was just such a joy to watch...all of it, from Ray's hug to Timmy coloring to the dog doing so much better, and then all of them enjoying the fair. They all seem to be doing so much better and it feels like all the socializing has helped them immensely. They are special people who need a sense of community to thrive. It looks like you have a WV family now. From the first video until now, it's been fascinating to see how such a close-knit clan has brought you into their circle. Ray's excitement when he came to you for a hug was a beautiful moment. Thank you for showing us this world in a respectful, non-exploitive way.

Mark single handedly boosted their life expectancy by 10%, i don’t how much of the slice their content has paid mark, but I hope he keeps on guiding money towards them.
I want to say “thank you” for the kindness that you have shown this family!❤😊 As a West Virginia native, we are often judged just for being born here. I was once told how “articulate” I was to be from West Virginia! It makes me sad that people think they have a right to pass judgment on others! Keep doing what you do! We appreciate you, very much!!
@deborahbryant7045 I'm from Europe and I know West Virginia, from the song of John Denver (country roads). From that song, I felt like West Virginia was a very nice place with the mountains.
Ain't nothing "backward" about WVA, I lived there in the early 70's and it was hip AF plus the people are about 10 times nicer than most places, if I am able I will retire there.
“Lorraine make yourself at home. Just relax.” Killed me!!! What a sweetheart, she looked so comfortable. That’s a testament to how Mark makes them feel. They light up when he is around. Rays new shoes are awesome! Watching them on the swings brought me so much joy. ❤
Is it just me or has Mark's visits improved the overall ability of the Whittaker's to communicate and be more open. I really believe so....this is just so magical to watch....makes you feel good and that there is hope for everyone. I'm watching all the way from Sydney - Australia.

Their life really improved... locals and others went to from thinking it was some Wrong Turn situation telling stories around a campfire and harassing them/driving by... to knowing they are just a normal family in a low income area. Plus many people are out there donating now, praying for them etc.. but being honest when Mark released the first video alot of folks thought he was exploiting them/others. It wasn't until they started seeing what he did for them, with the new roof etc.. I think Mark's probably a really good person. You can see his beliefs come out during the interviews. Seeing the excitement on Timmy’s face was so heartwarming! Thanks for this Mark, you’re really touching the lives of the Whittakers & helping them create wonderful memories together. 🙏
These are decent people. They really have managed to survive in some harsh circumstances. What I love is that all the help Mark gave has really been used well. The dogs seem happy and healthy and everyone has on clean, safe and reliable shoes. Nothing extravagant but they bumped up their quality of life with practical care.
I'd say that once they're lifted up like this, it's in theirs and our best interest to help them maintain certain qualities on their own. It might even be possible to add 10 more IQ points to some of them with enough hard work, and there might even be jobs that some of them can perform safely to supplement any social platform loot.
Newsflash! Decent people don't rape and screw their own family members. These people don't even take their dogs to the vet when they get their paws chopped off. Stop trying to pretend these are roll models. Smh 🤦
If you go back to the earliest episodes you can see the animals were surprisingly healthy and happy. I think Mark may have even commented on how well taken care of the animals were compared to themselves. Im sure Mark and the SWU crowd have made that even more so and has enhanced/extended their quality of life.
@FilbinCreekPhil Oooohhh, Mark "said" the animals were well taken care of. Welp, that's good enough for me! What a wonderful bunch of people. I'm really happy to see the Whitakers doing well. Their lives are so much better because of you Mark. You have made all the difference for them. Thank You Mark! I'm also happy to see different people stopping by to visit and bringing joy to them. For the life they have lived they truly deserve it.
This is so beautiful. I taught special needs for a long time. Its a blessing to interact with those who don't "fit into society ". Its one of the only places, that I felt the return of unconditional love. What a wonderful gift you have given to a family that would otherwise be overlooked. Thank u Mark for everything that you do!! A life with purpose, that impacts so many of us who would never get the opportunity to walk where you do. You are the extention of our love.
It makes me emotional that some people with severe disabilities won’t be able to experience happiness like this…maybe not even at all in their lifetime. This is so beautiful to watch and especially seeing Timmy’s happiness. We really take a lot for granted and I’m so grateful that they are able to experience life like this. Thank you Mark, I think you and the Whittaker family blessed each other in some way and showing us- is a blessing also. May their siblings R.I.P 🙏🏽 May this family continue to have a long, happy life. Bless them and the generations to come with good health and prosperity 🙏🏽❤️ thank you God!

Well said.

Aaaaand now the dark truth is revealed again.
They all seem to act more normal than when we first met them !
They are heartbreaking !
Mark, your girlfriend is very beautiful.
I Totally Agree ‼️💯
I was thinking the same thing about the house even being brighter.😊

My kids were over watching it and I reminded them whenever you have a bad day, just remember how many things you were able to do and see the Whittakers are enjoying it probably for the first time in their lives. I don't know if the dart game guy was paid extra to start with or if he let them all win out of the kindness of his heart but either way it was great to see them all win and be excited about the win and proud of themselves. Usually when I try that dart game the balloons blow around a lot, I suspect there's a fan involved. Lol
I can always win at the guns that shoot pellets shoot out all of the star game though.

You're right, the dart booth employee was such a great person. He just wanted to make sure the family had a fun and memorable time.
What a difference one man has made in the lives of an entire family who most people would avoid. It's amazing how they were suspicious at first and how they now welcome Mark like a family member. Awww, Ray coming out to greet you with a hug... you have formed a wonderful bond with this family. It makes me happy to see them happy.
What special moments! Simple pleasures. Winning the stuffed animal, the excitement of the rides & Timmy's cotton candy. Loved seeing them. Thank you Mark & Laura for being such kind souls.
I Loved seeing Timmy's face eating the cotton candy,,,
Its nice to see someone with a loving spirit. You're a great person. Thank you for showing them love.
I loved when Ray came out and gave you a hug Mark. I loved seeing how happy Timmy was at the fair. I had tears in my eyes when he received his prize. I’m worried about Lorraine. I don’t want anything to happen to anyone in this family. Bless you Mark for all you have done and are doing for the Whittakers.
Yeah I worry about Lorraine too. I hope they are getting proper medical care and bloodwork and things like that. I noticed that Ray has some pretty bad arthritis all over and he needs to be taking vitamin D every day
@@texasgina Lorraine did look better in the next video which was filmed the next day actually. Maybe it was just too much walking for her. I’ve grown so fond of the Whittakers. 😊
You have undeniably made their quality of life far better on so many levels. Proof one person can make a difference to so many people. I love to see Ray give you a hug and Lauren and Timmy’s friendship blossom. Their smiles and excitement playing darts. And as usual Betty is putting her family first. Experiencing and living life they would never have if not for you. You are a national treasure. ❤ I look forward to seeing new videos come out!
No they haven't! That takes away from the reason they are humiliating them.
@@chuckieb3798the family should stay hidden and isolated? Would that senerio suit your needs better?
@@chuckieb3798they are doing no such thing. So sad you see it that way and feel the need to dump
Your negativity on what for them is an experience they are obviously enjoying and wouldn’t have had if not for Mark. Mark has done so much for for this family. They definitely have a better quality of life and living conditions because of Mark. Everyone else who has ever videoed them did so out of personal and selfish reasons. Mark has given them so much in return and genuinely cares for this family. I hope one day someone shows you the same attention and affection and maybe then you will not feel so bitter. You obviously aren’t aware of all mark has done so perhaps do a little research on the situation and then come back and make a fully informed comment based on facts and not speculation or conjecture. May your day be a happy and meaningful one.
@@LuisaD93exactly. the relationship between them and mark couldn't be further from exploitation or making fun. Mark genuinely cares for this family and has done SO much to improve their quality of life in every possible way and to say otherwise is totally ignorant to the reality of the situation. If you compare the property in the first video to this one it's like night and day.. all thanks to the generosity of mark and his team and those who have donated their time, money and services. they are also so much happier, more social and it seems all of this has brought the entire family closer together. this isn't about clicks and views, this is about impacting serious change for a family who couldn't do it for themselves due to circumstances well out of their control. God bless Mark and his team. I have a feeling the Whittaker family brings them just as much joy.
@chuckieb3798 I didn't see or haven't or even heard one person humiliate them. Maybe that's what someone like you would do and maybe that's why you are saying that. Look how much thier lives have changed and improved. They look so much happier. People are always going to have negative and mean things to say about EVERYBODY AND ANYBODY! This case the positive outweighs any negativity that these videos may bring. Their quality of life has been Mark and Lauren's first priority. Just look at their happy faces. Mark and Lauren are giving them something that money can't buy and that's wonderful memories. I love seeing their transformation out of their sheltered lives. If only I could make such a difference.
Thank you Mark and Lauren for just simply being yourselves. The world needs more people like you both and maybe this world wouldn’t be half as bad.
Oh my goodness. I've been watching these today, and they just love you! TY for being such an amazing human being!!! If only people would be half as caring to others as you are,the world would literally be a different place.❤
I love that Ray wanted a hug as soon as he seen Mark. It's incredible how much their life has improved. Making friends all over as well 🖤 Thank you for all you do Mark! As well as everyone who has donated and helped them.
He believes in forgiveness and trying to make the most out of life
Yes that was a beautiful moment
21:33 was such a lovely moment ;D.

Very sweet and generous of you to treat members of the Whittaker family to the state fair, Mark. It looks like that they, for the most part, had a great time - you're a good egg. And, Lauren is a good sport and always looks lovely without even trying. What a sweetheart. 🙂
Well said.

What a fun day for the family. Ray seems to not be feeling well. It was heartwarming to see how happy Ray was to see Mark & gave him a hug. Timmy was very adventurous at the fair. Thank you, Mark for caring about the Whitaker family.

You are soo right, sis
Yea,before this I definitely took not being inbred for granted
The Whittaker’s have come a long way. The way Ray gave Mark a hug was so heartwarming.
Lauren is so beautifully humble.
Thank you Mark! ❤️
Ray and Timmy are so cool. I love how genuinely happy they get when they see Marrk. You can tell that they really like him.
Im sure Mark and the SWU crowd have made that even more so and has enhanced/extended their quality of life.
these people are inbred
@FilbinCreekPhil Oooohhh, Mark "said" the animals were well taken care of. Welp, that's good enough for me! What a wonderful bunch of people. I think I'll go knock my sister up so we can have a wonderful amazing family that puts our animals first, even though they'll run around with paws ripped off. 😫🤦

This is one of the best and most important series to ever come out imo. I rly hope they show this in schools in a way that allows kids to really think abt it.
