Hi Robin - I am your fan and started doing sudoku watching your tutorials. I found the going tougher when there are 25 or lesser numbers in the beginning of the puzzle. Can you please release tutorials for such puzzles. If you have already done those puzzles please forgive my ignorance and be kind enough to mention the tutorial numbers.
Glad to know you wish to learn more. Look at tutorials from #50 to 100 and you will see many examples where I solve starting from just a few numbers. Look at the list of titles. All the best.
I have tried to use Snyder Notation rules to maximum extent in solving. And once I have completed that, in and advanced puzzle, I am not sure the next technique to apply. At 8:57, you added the other 3,8 in a different block. Is it still Snyder Notation at that point? And then you placed 2,3,8 in the two cells. At this point, you are beyond Snyder Notation, right? What would you say generally is the next step after your Snyder Notation is complete?
By the time you get to tutorial 93 you have to use a different method.. If you look at tutorial 79 and above you will see a different method being used. It's called "locked litlle numbers" Hope this helps. Robin
Another good one Robin. I tend to sweep through the rows and columns with TMB and LCR, followed by Cross-meet, just as you taught. I find it can be done quite quickly. Then I start looking for 'other things'. Thanks for clarifying the ambiguity rule. Take care.
Yes look at tutorial # 94 which will be coming out in Aug. In the meantime go to my home page and look at tutorials called "Danger Danger" The unique rectangle can have to solutions which is not accepted in sudoku.
In tutorial no.93 in column no 6 row no 7 you had three small numbers, 4, 5 and 9 but you selected 9 when you could have chosen 4 or 5. The reason you gave was not audible. Can you please clarify
If you continue watching you will hear me say we have to put a 9 there to stop the puzzle having 2 answers. It is called the unique rectangle or as I call it the danger danger. A puzzle cannot have 2 answers. Hope this helps.
Hello Yash. I am uploading videos regularly for 8 years. PLease go to my channel page to see over 140 videos I have made. go to sudokuguy.com, click on the video button which will take you to my channel page. Hope this helps Robin
Good question the same reason as the 2 had to b e put in earlier. The 9 must be there to stop a Danger Danger situation where there could b e 2 answers. A sudoku puzzle must never have 2 answers
Way to go charissa. Understand the power of matching pairs is very important. I think a procedure would greatly slow down the solving of this grid, which is pretty easy for the first 30-odd steps, just by following the numbers. The crunch point presents two URs, although one of them is a dead end (28 = row 2 column 8): 28, 33, 39, 35, 31, 11, 25, 37, 79, 77, 99, 17, 93, 85, 24, 15, 27, 29, 18, 49, 69, 52, 75, 81, 73, 86, 58, 68, 53, 48, 45, 64, 41, 95 (UR, boxes 2 and 8)*, 71, 92, 76, 74, … * A UR in boxes 4 and 7 yields R6C7, but then nothing else. Without a UR: 92 instead of 95 (colours on 5s from this cell), 95, 46, 34, 36, …
As you know Julian, I gain most enjoyment of sudoku when beginning by just letting the numbers 'hit my eye' (i.e. definitely no system to start the grid). I'm not saying playing without a system is more efficient, but (and here this might be based on personality) a random start feels good. I think it's "horses for courses".
@@zen_art_of_guardian_sudoku Yes, I think some people need some sort of procedural approach in order to be able to cope with the flow of incoming information without becoming overwhelmed. But such an approach is inherently inefficient and slow in comparison to simple number following (see some 5s, follow the 5s, etc.). Indeed, it's not difficult to devise a grid that strongly penalizes counting and cycling, which are the two main features of typical solving procedures.
Good question . Essential for learners for the first part of solving further on in the puzzle if it is difficult you then have to look around more.. Look at my recent videos and you will see the to begin with I have a procedure. later when I look for e.g. triplets then I could be looking all over the puzzle. Robin

hmm. i read your answer, "to avoid danger" but I don't see why that's a logical step. the creator of the puzzle should see to these snafus, shouldn't he?
Glad to see you man 👨 stay strong wish your health live long🥺🙂💞🌹

@@SudokuGuy Many thanks for your prompt response and shall definitely go through the lessons suggested by you.
Whats is the fastest time in which youve solved hard sudoku?
For me I have no idea because I am not interested in hurrying, I am more interested in doing it right.

Thanks for sharing! Robin More tutorials are coming. Please tell your friends.
I have herd you say their might be two answers to a puzzle but I can't see how. Maybe you could give an example..😊
God bless you Sir . You are a HERO
Gee Thanks Kera. Thanks for your support. Please tell others about Sudoku Guy.
Good video, thanks. Question - at time 25.58, why select the 8 in row 5 and NOT the 8 in row 4. Thanks in advance.
The 8 must go in r5 as there is already an 8 in r4.. I hope I have understood your question. Suggest look at this section again. Robin
I can't wait for #100. I hope something special is planned.
It is planned Keep watching. Thanks for your support.
19:43 that's indeed a magical rule!
Yes Fran it is important to avoid the unique rectangle because you may finish up with 2 answers, which is not a true sudoku
Very important to watch for these unique rectangles. I call them Danger Danger in other tutorials.
Wishing for your health
Thanks. Vivek. Robin
❤❤❤
Compliments of the season I hope you are learning lots. Thanks for your support. Robin
Robin, I laugh every time you say "that was a pun". My ex-wife used to say "that's two thirds of a pun---P.U."
Ha ha neat !
Do you have a video on the rule for 19:40? Thanks

questioni please: WHY DOES IT "HAVE TO BECOME A 9" in what you call the "danger danger" situation. row 7 column 6. 59, 45, 459
My suggestion is to look at this part of the puzzle again. By putting in the 9 it saved the 45 45 45 45 possible danger danger from happening Robin
19.45 Why does the 4, 5, 9 combination has to be 9?
Good question the same reason as the 2 had to b e put in earlier. The 9 must be there to stop a Danger Danger situation where there could b e 2 answers. A sudoku puzzle must never have 2 answers

Hello Joy. They may be easy for you but not for the beginner.
hmm. i read your answer, "to avoid danger" but I don't see why that's a logical step. the creator of the puzzle should see to these snafus, shouldn't he?
May be, but the solver has to be aware of the danger danger. situation.
