The third technique in is called De-Ashibarai in Judo and is easily also applicable without knee-fake. It works even better when you push your oponent backwards and than attack the foot what is exposed and does not support the body in that moment. I apply both techniques very successfully in clinch. But I will incorporate that knee-fake as well as a new variety. Love it. Thank you!

Dooblen! ;) Loving this, clinch takedowns seem rare in MMA atm

The first one is not really easy to put in place and make it work, only a beginner falls so easily, like bag

+bastard231 I think that Cian demonstrates this as a beginning option, as you pointed out, it may not work against more experienced opponents, hence why he then progresses onto explaining more in the video. I hope you enjoyed watching it though, make sure you check out some of the other excellent videos on here and let me know what you think also!!

+Stuart Tomlinson Ah yes I liked the video and what you say is true, this move serves as a starting point of explanation for the moves explained later on. Yes, the video is pretty good and I liked it :)

We have been trying to introduce some of those Thai takedowns in our MMA as well, but hardly anything of it seems to work on an opponent who is competent in wrestling.
We played around a little and I came to the conclusion that most of those takedowns really are only helpful in the Muay Thai context, because they highly depend on the clinch-kneestrike-balance game those Thai boxers usually play.

Stuart Tomlinson This was what I was thinking. You really have to catch me on the wrong foot to drop me with that

A different variation of the first one may work better in my experience.
My instructor taught us to pick them up by simply leaning back and then slamming them down onto their backs

You can't pick people up in muay thai. Only sweeps and trips are legal.

Muito bom. Existe a possibilidade (talvez), de "usar em uma luta de grappling essas quedas"?
    Ótimo vídeo, parabéns. 👏👏👏

Could you please make a video what can you do when an opponent stick at your body at clinch position. In that case it is difficult to counter.

Isn't it theoretically an illegal move to use the side of the foot to sweep? Or have I understood this wrong? Would be great if someone could explain it to me.

0:56 A great tutorial. I am just wondering how easily your opponent will fall over... Even if he resists, would it usually be easy to take him down from this position?

    • @herrschniedler4207

its a pretty simple one so probably not that hard to defend

    • @archerzzy
      @archerzzy 2 года назад +1

Takedowns in Muay Thai usually don't work that well if they resist, so you gotta catch them off guard.
