@dellalain1964 that happened to many owners, but didn't happen to me.. some people just leave the bearing on the clutch housing with no two little parts on there, bearing won't move around when the clutch cover is on. I put the grease on the oring by the clutch bell before put the clutch cover with bearing back on.
Hi Ernest! Suzuki said replace belt every 14,500 miles but I changed my belt around 16-17,000 miles to be safe... I know some people went for 22,000, 27,000 miles... just check the belt to make sure no cracks and if it's in good condition and within the spec then you can go longer..
Hey Ernest! You will need to replace the variators if they have bad grooves. If the rollers have flat spots.. then you will need to replace them. Grease the cvt cover bearing...
@dellalain1964 Yes it's in the CVT Removal video, if you r not able to understand, just let me know. The cover slips over a bearing in the back and sometimes it can be pretty stubborn. You have to wiggle it back and forth as much as possible to loosen it. If you are very careful you can also use a screwdriver to pry it loose at the top above the clutch area near the top rear screw.
Hey man thanks for all your help with your videos... I deglazed my clutch and changed the gear oil while I had it open... I did use the 10w40... Why not the typical 90w oil ? I went with what you did and the scoot runs like new !! I had slight vibration from the clutch glaze... Perfect now ... Just curious about the oil .....?
Grazie mille
i used this method with a little bit difference in tools and my driveface fins cracked. Still the best & appropriate method to unscrew & tighten nuts is by an impact drive...
Have you ever heard of running the scooter for a few seconds after installing the belt to "tighten it up"? I read and saw it in another video and post because it seems like my belt isn't staying on tight.
A little late to the party, but if you're inspecting your belt without a load on the transmission it isn't going to he tight. It will look loose without a transmission load.
Hello Micbersma, can you please tell me at what mileage I should start checking the CVT belt for replacement? My Burgman now has 14,200 miles on it. I just had the front and rear tires replaced ... the stock tires Bridgestone HOOPs held very well!! Thank you for your help. Ernest
Mitch, Where can I find 23g Dr Pulley Sliders? I've seen 21g, but can't find who has them anywhere. Also, I just finished cking my valves on 2005 400. What a pain to get at! Maybe next time I can do quicker. But at 14,000 miles and first time ever ck'd, all were good. Now I have peace of mind!
Hello MicBergsma!! I have a question about the rollers inside the variator. When is it necessary to change those ... at the same time changing the CVT belt? Is it also necessary to change all the other components associated with the CVT too? I'm going to be working on changing the belt this week. Please advise me. Thank you again for your help. Best regards, Ernest AECG of NY
Hello Mitch; I have a 2009 Suzuki Burgman 400, on take off the scooter rumbles and vibrate befor accelerating, what exactly do I need to buy to fix this problem, please let me know, I thank you so much.
Hello Mic. When I remouved the CVT cover the 2 littel parts holding the bering in the CVT cover bent out and the bering stay on the clutch housing. Did it happen to you at first ? I think I will have to buy a new bering it may be seized or over heated an kind of stock on the clutch housing ? Alain.
Do you have a video that show how to open the aluminun cover of the belt ? I remouved all bolts and belt filter but is is hard to pull out. I do not want to hit with a hamer the aluminum cover and risk to crack it. Do you have an advise?
Hi mate, admiring your scooters videos and got one question: what are the dimensions of the drive belt to the AN400 K8? Can`t find anything below £100 price tag here over the pond. Same to the older model are £16 - £25. Will you help me save my budget please? Keep up great work, Cheers from UK, Bob
Hello! Congratulations for the Burgman 400 videos. I'm from Brazil, sorry my english, I'm using Google translator helps. Would you like a hint as preparing the Burgman 400. I have one year in 2012, I think in Brazil is the K8 and K9, not sure. I installed the kit Malossi Multivar 2000 plus Kevlar belt. It was cool, but that's to be better? It was good to rush, the better for urban use, but a little to be desired above 100km / h. What do you recommend or have done in your? Hug.
My 09 Burgman 400. I have a question...when I am at a complete stop that has a small UPHILL GRADE, it seems to have a little slippage and small squeal noise on take off, it only lasts about 15 feet. The scooter only has about 2200 miles on it. I have not drove it enough to know what is normal and what is not. I do not notice any noise or slippage at any other time . Could this be where it has not been used enough? May go away? Or what would You be suspecting?? Thank You for any advice!!
does the gearbox whistle when it runs at big speed?? ... i had a chineede 50cc 4 stroke scooter that whistled slightly ... felt like i had a supercharger on it :D... so .. does it whistle??
@micbergsma - always quality vids from you on this bike - huge question for you - do you know what it takes or how to change the shaft in the front portion of the transmission (seen at 2m 26s in the video on the left)??? The center bolt backed out on my girlfriend's bike and stuck the housing bending it and stripping the inner thread - looks like it needs to be replaced... Live on Long Island in NY and having issue finding anyone who knows anything about these bikes - no one wants to touch it - we have a 2nd exact same year bike that was dropped and totaled by insurance company where the transmission is good which we can use for donor parts - just can't figure out how to replace that shaft without a full engine tear-down - any help would be greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks!!!!
Hi, I would ask you a question, I recently changed the transmission belt, now I know that at an average of 90/100 km / h I have vibrations coming from transmission, is it serious? Thank you
Hi took my 2007 burgman apart I think I need everything belt and the clutch it wore to the metal not sure what to do I'm thinking go with dr pulley buy I need the outer part to its a mess what would you do it's also kicking out the fuse for the lights and will not start with out me putting in a new 15 amp the go and it kicks it out after a bit crazy stuff going on here in Canada
@nomynuss hmm not all scooters do that... but I'm %90 hearing impaired so I can't tell if mine can do that ha ha... my friends said it doesn't make any noise
Sorry, but it's FAIL. All surfaces must be degreased!! And the author touches belt and pulleys with dirty hands without clear gloves. It will not "explode" right after start, but will significantly decrease moving parts worn resource.
It is true! I know many "inquisitive" people who also do some kind of motorcycle service because they find it very easy and do not want to pay the labor of a good professional. This devaluation of service is very common! On the other hand, it is a total, slow and painful destruction ...

I don't use rollers for a long time... I use 18g and 23g dr pulley sliders
18? or 23? on a 2007 burgman 400
sliders help lower the rpm at high speed, faster accelerate off the line than stock rollers, and last longer
Heavy rollers or lighter rollers better

Best detailed video on youtube.
You're welcome! Everyone use the engine oil for transmission... and Suzuki say engine oil 10w40 :)
@dellalain1964 Yes it's in the CVT Removal video, if you r not able to understand, just let me know
Great videos! What kinda grease are you using on the clutch nut there, is there any where else that grease needs to be applied on the clutch assembly?
@picho74 thank you! that just depends on how you ride and check the wear
@lonhankk yes 07+ means 2007 and up :)
Hey great videos!
what is the suggested interval for replacing the CVT?
Thanks!

Hello Sir... I'm about to tackle this job..... What is the torque rating when I put the cvt cover back on with the 10 perimeter screws ?
Excelent video, the edition is great!!!... and thanks for share your knowledge!!.. Best regardas from Venezuela
What a fantastic video, and I love the music too - thanks for sharing, absorbed the information & feel confident if I have to do this I can.
