I was not aware of what this feature did. Your tutorial is going to save me so much time running jobs! Thank you for such a wonderfully concise tutorial!
I just watched 20 minutes of videos to figure this out with no luck, until I found your video! Thank you so much! I'm new with laser engraving and this explained so much in a simple way. This video is going to help so much!
I was just thinking last night that I wish I could do that as I was flipping output off and moving things to new layers! I think you just saved me a bunch of time...
Fantastic, Knowledge is WONDERFUL thank you very much for all you videos that you have produced that has helped me understanding LightBurn as a beginner i need all the help i can get THANK YOU.
Good evening Robert. Goodness knows why RUclips isn't notifying me when you make a new tutorial - I was just thinking I haven't heard from you in whats seems like an age, so went directly to your channel and noticed there are three consecutive ones I haven't seen - now excited to binge watch them :-) Alos, thanks for the email the other month, was so great to g=hear from you in more detail - I hope you got my reply? Well, what can I say OMG, I waste so much time flipping the outputs on and off, and changing layer colours time and time again, and sometimes so much that I make mistakes! This is AMAZING news, and I will start using this right away. I cant believe I never even noticed these features Robert. thank you so so much, it is going to be such a great time saver. I learn something new from each and every tutoru=ial of yours, and I also use them as reference later down the line when im struggling with something. I absolutely love this I hope you and your family are well, and enjoying the small steps back to normality that we seem to be enjoying at the moment. Im absolutely loving my laser, and a lot of that is down to you Terry
my wife and I where just talking about we haven’t seen any post from you and was hoping you where ok. so glad to hear from you! I did get your response so thank you for that. I appreciate your comments as always. stay in touch my friend. here is to safe lasering.
Thank you I was having trouble with this like when I start to cut an image, the laser wouldn’t recognizing all of the parts so now your video helped me a lot thank you
THANK YOU!!! I have so many designs on my screen all different colors output off it gets so confusing. This will help me so much. Again you saved my sanity!!!
Thank you! That is very helpful information. I was thinking that is how this setting worked, but I kept getting that "nothing selected" warning. This explains why. At first I thought "cut" meant for the laser to only physically penetrate all the way through the material, not encompass both "cut" and "engrave" in one setting. That makes the label kind of confusing for beginners. Maybe Lightburn should rename this setting to "process all selected items," in future updates, in order to prevent confusion? Just my two cents. Lightburn is Amazing software, and fun to use. Thanks again for the information, and keep up the great work! 👍👍
Thank you! When I design multiple items, I will stage the designs /duplicates/reference notes outside the grid .....then they don’t get sent to the laser😎 Love Lightburn
I am just getting around to understanding Origin settings. This tutorial is spot on! As usual, I have to go through a tutorial several times to get the details implanted in my head. Do you usually leave Cut Select Graphic and Use Selection Origin on when designing your file? Tomorrow I am going to research your tutorials for one on understand Optimize Cut path. Thanks to you providing details that I could not find elsewhere. Lucie
Great video. Just what I was looking for. I will need to change my workflow because currently I am sending files to my Longer Ray 5 using wi-fi, but Lightburn doesn't talk to the Ray 5 over wifi (out of the box).
Again you have talked about a feature that I did not know about until you made the video. Thanks for the info. I am looking at buying a 40w (diode) laser so that I can cut thicker material. I have a 3918 cnc and dont want to buy a seperate machine, but do want be able to cut.
Robert, Can you do a video showing how you would engrave inside of a deep tray (with 4" Lens) using Origin to avoid having a head crash? I can't figure out how to do this.
You never covered CUT SELECTED GRAPHICS. My laser runs but does not put out enough power to even engrave (like its doing a simulated preview) how do I tell it the power and speed when I use this? :( I am using a 10w LongerRay 5
Hi friend, I have zero knowledge on laser cutting machine. Due to my work required I have purchase an ATOMSTACK XPRO and try to mark some numbering on electrical wire surface, just to mark some letter like ACHGF 12344566 and so on.
If your "Start From" setting is set to Absolute Coordinates, and assuming the material has not been moved, what is the value of Use Selection Origin? One would think using absolute coord. eliminates this selection from considerations. Thanks.
I like reusing scrap material, so I never use absolute coordinates. I want to position my laser head where my material will accommodate the job and press start.
Tonja, Thank you so much for the Thanks! I really appreciate your support. This will go,along way into purchasing some better lighting for my videos. I truly appreciate you! ❤️
I did that but it still don’t cut out the center of designs that have cut outs It’s like you got to do each layer. Tell her what to do then the laser does so much then at homes then you got a click on the next button. It’s crazy. I thought you can group everything and click on black for cut, but it don’t work that way I’m still having problems.

Happy to help!

When I design multiple items, I will stage the designs /duplicates/reference notes outside the grid .....then they don’t get sent to the laser😎
Love Lightburn
Thank you for the comment, I do the same sometimes. you are right! LightBurn is great software!

Glad it was helpful!
love the new audio!
yes big improvement, thank you for noticing!
Great video !!!
Glad you enjoyed it
this is fantastic! Thanks
You're very welcome!
I use this method all the time and find it great for positioning on scraps. Will you be doing a review of your new Nova 35 please?
thanks for your comments, I will be doing one I just wanted to get a little time on the machine before I do my review. I love it so far.
Robert, Can you do a video showing how you would engrave inside of a deep tray (with 4" Lens) using Origin to avoid having a head crash? I can't figure out how to do this.
I’ll add it to my suggested topics Vikki, thank you! thanks for watching
Thanks! What is the function keys you were using just to select the c or just the text?
I directly select the object
Great tutorial. Thanks
You're welcome! thanks for watching
Good Job again
Appreciate the comment!

This process is intended for co2 lasers not diodes. Sorry
Hi friend, I have zero knowledge on laser cutting machine. Due to my work required I have purchase an ATOMSTACK XPRO and try to mark some numbering on electrical wire surface, just to mark some letter like ACHGF 12344566 and so on.
I wouldn’t use a laser to mark on electrical wire. it destroys the insulation.

Yes you are correct, just hate using absolute coordinates, (personal pref I guess). Thanks for the comment and watching
I like reusing scrap material, so I never use absolute coordinates. I want to position my laser head where my material will accommodate the job and press start.
Hi any chance you can make a video how to make a cake topper please, thank you and also i love your videos
what kind or style of cake topper are you looking for? thank you for your comments I appreciate it!
Thanks!
Tonja, Thank you so much for the Thanks! I really appreciate your support. This will go,along way into purchasing some better lighting for my videos. I truly appreciate you! ❤️
I have 60 watts omtech with autofocus and I have an issue when I try to make a circle the machine made an oval Do you have any solution?
I’m sorry, I don’t know anything about that brand.
Thanks
Thank you so much for the “Thanks” I appreciate it very much!
good grief all you have to do is "cut selected graphics"
yep that it!
I did that but it still don’t cut out the center of designs that have cut outs It’s like you got to do each layer.
