Have been listening to Messer's Budd and Eno et al for over forty years now. You can ALWAYS bring something new to a piece you mightn't have heard for thirty. It's infinitely flexible, involving and thought-provoking, it always depends on what you bring to it. It can be background music and it can be foreground, wistful, nostalgic and hopeful, a world you wish you could visit, or go back to, or were heading towards. Ambient music, spearheaded by the inestimable Mr Eno, is a fitting successor to the long tradition of Western Classicism, a fitting goodnight.
Rest in Peace Harold Budd, these songs and so many other help me sleep at night and relax thought my day for years and years now. We miss you here on Earth but please keep making music wherever you are or do whatever makes your spirit smile! And shoutout to the homie Robin Guthrie super Wehvvy my guy super duper Wehvvy!
This was meant to be played constantly in a cathedral or some similar space, like musical chants that play 24/7 via loudspeakers inside and outside certain Buddhist temples.
💖 Beyond beautiful...majestic, ethereal, heavenly. If more people had the capacity to genuinely listen to this music, deeply, we'd live in a kinder, gentler world. Thanks for making such extraordinary music. 💖
I spend half of my year at a camp in the Sangre de Christo mountains and so many mornings this beautiful piece has gently carried me into the day. Sublime.
Uma outra dimensão se torna perceptível diante desses acordes certeiros e instigantes, trazendo uma vivência do lúdico em sua potencialidade restauradora, indizível e deliciosa.
been a fan of Mr. Guthrie since the early days , a week does not pass that I do not play something , Victorialand will be echoing around the halls on the day I am bid farewell
Time and space seem to melt away...as one drifts off to a land of sympathetic vibrations, euphonic soundscapes which resonate with us in a myriad of ways.
The genius of Sir Robin Guthrie is unsurpassed in the Ambient genre Cocteau Twins will live on even if they are doing their solo works greetings to Simon Raymonde Will Heggie and Elizabeth Fraser 👁👋👋👋🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧😘
I noticed he played along with the Cocteau Twins in 1975 he was on Eno's label he created to get more ambient music out there he had a few people who were on his label, Eno and Fripp were pioneers along with Tangerine Dream in this field of Music
I put on Avalon Sutra and it just keeps going from record to record but I never got through Avalon Sutra until this morning the first album allowed me to fall asleep something I have a hard time doing.
Esteban Posada Duque who says what music is meant and not meant to do? The listener decides what it means to her, and that’s what matters. Besides, in the liner notes to Music for Airports, Eno described ambient music as “an atmosphere, a tint...designed to induce calm and a space to think.”

I could not have said it better. Always recommending The White Arcades as the most gorgeous ambient album ever, but never could put into words why. This clinches it. And Bordeaux might be it if it was an 'album'. A beautiful ache neither tragic nor melancholy.

Played this to relax my Mom as she transitioned to the other side five years ago. Listened to it again for the first time since then. Beautiful
That’s so beautiful…
I hope she loved it as much as I do. 🕯️
My condolences

RIP your mom.
RIP. Your music was a companion in difficult days.

Sounds like words I've typed here as well. And we need new listeners more so now than any other period. Do we ever...
Ever since discovering RG had an afterlife post Cocteau Twins, I tend to listen to this oeuvre more so than the former. Ease...
Putting on my Head phones and floating through the Universe, carefree ! Thank you Robin and Harold !
I bet it is nice through Headphones.
This is so chilled it’s in the fridge beautiful rip Harold

"Southern Shore" is a soundtrack to a tragic moment for me as I listened to it during something indescribable here.
Same here. I know that feel. Most people would call it just a 'nice background music'.
Listening to this I feel like I have entered some other dimension.

On a canvas of sustain and reverb, Harold Budd along with his many collaborators create a platate the impressionists would envy
