&& a feeling of a wednesday morning ten days past acid before visiting the marea negra for a morning walk with your cat on a skinny white leash before anyone is awake…
I kept this on loop while preparing for an important exam. The day I passed it, the father of my girlfriend died. Five years later, I keep coming back to this song as a completely different man, with that very same girl still at my side. Ultimately, what is life, if not an eternal loop? A longing for the past while moving forward?
This music reminds me of an apartment a friend and I rented in Berlin, Germany a few years ago. We spent two months there, and our bed was right against the window on the 12th floor of the building. The view was breathtaking. I spent so many hours watching the days unfold: light changes, the sun going up and down, clouds moving, city lights and the Fernsehturm… On the last day my friend had left, I remember sitting in our bed and staring at the view one last time. It was such a powerful moment. I am grateful this kind of music is here to remind me of it.
Sounds exactly like the whole of last year when I moved to the 7th floor in a flat on Edgware Road in London. I could see the BT Tower in the background and The Shard a bit further away. And many times I'd just leave my phone by the big window to produce a timelapse of the day with the camera. Quite a few times I got to catch rainbows and even double rainbows. All while this piece of William Basinski played in the background.
Heights & blinking lights,…our experience living as humans is to discover the unity of consciousness. That every moment is an opportunity to not only see, but be divine! Upon high I glimpse the fiery molten star of my heart!
“Ambient music must be able to accommodate many levels of listening attention without enforcing one in particular, it must be as ignorable as it is interesting.” -Eno
Like a lovers heartbeat, the slow rhythmic pulse, or holding hands on a hot summer sidewalk, sweet smiles passing by behind rain soaked windows. We fold time with our souls that it may return to those we’ve never met yet always loved.
This song reminds me of not being able to sleep for hours, tossing and turning, and then finally that feeling when you know you're falling asleep and the relief from it. It's like you worked hard for it and earned it
I love that there are people who love this as much as I do, it is brilliant. I love watching the city lights dim as the piece proceeds to a period of stillness. May 2023 magical trip to Mexico, flew in and out of Guadalajara , driving to the city I saw a vista and was like “holy shit that looks like the video” , got to my hotel and looked out my window to see this view. A moment that confirmed I was on a journey, and was in the right path. Peace and blessings to all, thank you to whoever married the music to the video❤
this video is perfect. i have always had a soft spot for radio masts etc. blinking in the distance. its as if they give more life to the city than the city can itself, telling us that there is always more to a place than we can know at any given point. ok this is messy.
I find it almost unbearable, especially with this video. As if a heavily concentrated dose of pure, unaltered melancholy was injected into my heart. All poetry ever written shouted out in a single, unintelligible, primal word.
I heard DLP 1 first. A friend insisted that I listen to it and when she played it for me I couldn't believe it. The range of emotions and feeling within that one piece of music floored me. But when I finally heard this piece (DLP 6) I was absolutely transported. It took me back to a feeling that I'd had all my life, or at least as long as I can remember. It was simultaneously tranquil and reassuring, but also filled with melancholy and a tired wisdom. It is the feeling of life right here in a single song. It is so special to me and a real treat when I sit down to listen to it. It feels so personal, but it's really great to see that so many people share an appreciation for it. I love this vid, and come back to it now and again. Thanks for sharing.

The disintegration loops never gets old. I've listened to this Basinski piece for years. As humans we age, keep moving along in life and people come and go in life. Then something like this piece comes along and stays with you forever. When you are alone and put this going on a good pair of headphones and sit back and think about everyone/everything that has come and gone in life...it's hard to explain the feelings and thoughts I have. The feeling present in these comments is what the world needs. Peace, insight, awareness, compassion. I'm so happy I found William Basinski. Incredible. Fires up all the chakras, energy centers. "Basinski is best known for his four-volume album The Disintegration Loops (2002-2003), constructed from rapidly decaying twenty-year-old tapes of his earlier music." Wikipedia
I'm not exaggerating when i say this hits me in a way it can't really explain, got a bit light headed, breathless and felt almost out of body for a couple seconds. Like I'm reminiscing about something that i never experienced in the first place, when i feel im close to maybe explaining it another wave hits me and I'm starting again trying to figure out what this is doing to me. I'm 100% sober which maybe makes it scarier
Im just going to be honest. There are sounds that are difficult to describe......melancholy but not morose.....and captivating to whatever part of the brain this sort of beauty hits......add some marijuana to the mix and you dont want the music to stop......thank and bravo to this collection of absolute bliss.

Tivoli, NY 2020 April, I sat shirtless upright in bed with all the windows open. The spring afternoon fading slowly into dusk. Dlp 6 playing in the background of my computer while I wrote my last final. When I finished writing, my bedroom was dark, no longer illuminated by the afternoon sun, but instead by the glow of my computer. I can still remember the feeling of cool summer air floating in through the open window kissing my chest.

I wish I could put a fresh like on this each time I see it. The video is such a good fit to the sound!
I’m here for the light flashing.
It really does make it feel like you actually there! I love it!
I have no words to describe what I feel to hear these magical sounds !! I am flying my eternal dreams !! thanks for sharing with us dreamers!
I don't know what city lights those are, but I am reminded of flying into LA. Those lights and this music are mesmerizing.
It is Guadalajara Mexico.
@@ChristopherPesqueirabro what is that thing on the top
Me too💜🙏
This is a "loop" from heaven
lsd322 So true...
Cameron Yamaguchi why is there always someone
If a "loop" from heaven existed, this would be it.
This loop lift me up
And all the while a great wind carries you across the sky.
The Sopranos?
I think he meant the airplane at 14:30
@@antonimalachowski5262 no, it's a Sopranos quote
The most beautiful piece of sound art I've yet to experience. This piece is soooo lovely...Touches the heart...
Or, using syntax correctly. 'The most beautiful piece of sound art I have yet experienced.'
@@davidcopson5800 Too funny syntax facist. His comment was almost 6 years ago, perhaps he hadn’t yet heard it in its entirety when commenting.
@@davidcopson5800 shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
A 40 minute piece that might absolve you of you fear of death
This is one of my favorites. Excellent body of work overall.
I love all of william basinski's music. I have it on my ipod touch.
Unbelievably atmospheric track. Strangely very suited to the video.
Or the video is strangely suited to the music.
@@davidcopson5800 Yes indeed, that too & both great.
I love this video - Thank you.
I've loved William Basinski's work for years and I put this on my TV when I can't sleep and it works every time.
The sound of our ego dissolving away as we transcend the boundary of this shared reality into the next...
This is the most beautiful thing on youtube
Im just going to be honest. There are sounds that are difficult to describe......melancholy but not morose.....and captivating to whatever part of the brain this sort of beauty hits......add some marijuana to the mix and you dont want the music to stop......thank and bravo to this collection of absolute bliss.
I have the feeling whoever uploaded this was staring at this mountain while listening to this by themselves and had such a response to it that they had to grab the hd camera and share it with the world...
love it the comfort and transference !!
first one I found from William Basinski was water music..then took me to the loops. just love it.my clients fall asleep on massage bed :)))) big thank you, Gabriel
This video it's amazing!! W. Basinski, another master of ambient sounds
so lovely the more you listen the more hypnotic it becomes
I will hereafter forever associate this moving piece of music with your wonderful video. They fit together so perfectly.
This is very relaxing! Sounds like Totally FUN HUNG OVER LOVEY DOVEY DATE ON THE FIRST DAY OF SPRING… or Autumn! Thank you!
Grand, majestic and calming
Perfect in every way. Thank you for posting.
The final piece is quite soothing and gives a sense of hope that contrasts to the rest of the album.
Christmas Eve 2020.
Being A Part Of was all I ever wanted. Too many years Apart From. I’ve found people that I understand and vise versa. I’m lucky. Listening tonight trying to grasp the Bigger Picture. I hope & pray that more people get to feel A Part Of. 🙏❤️💐
I've never seen such a sense of clarity in a comments section. My open eyes seek your open eyes. Bismillah.
This song thinks back of the memories I had as a kid.
