The man in other wheelchair is Denny Miller. He played also the footballplayer John Tobey in the episode "Killer Instinct" season 2 from the The Incredible Hulk.
That was the idea from memory hulk's body repairs injurys much faster than humans in the pilot hulk is shot when he turns back to banner it is almost healed!
It was a spinal injury, not a leg injury. He was paralyzed from the waist down. When he became the Hulk the first time, it partially regenerated the damage, restoring some of the use of his legs. When he changed back to David, he was able to use leg braces instead of a wheelchair, but didn't have full strength back yet. The episode's second metamorphosis fully restored his ability to walk.
Gamma radiation cures any injuries u might have lucky for David he had the creature inside him or else he 'd would of ended up paralyzed for rest of his life, how ironic when David is trying to get rid off the creature.
It's quite fascinating to see the hulk unable to stand at first then his healing is gradually repairing the damage but i like that hulk falls down again later shows it's not instant etc.and will take time

This is why David Banner was a better person than all of us. If I was paralyzed and I knew that turning into the Hulk would cure it, well . . . I'd just say f**k it and TURN. THAT is why David Banner is a better man than me.
To be fair tho. For all the time he doesn't want to be hulk. He must now realise it isn't a threat to innocent people. Often times showing great kindness and compassion to Davids friends. Protecting them

I find it very interesting that Lou looked so slimmed down towards the end of the series..and then when you look at the reunion movies he was more massive then ever....the facial make up though was never better than in these episodes, the hair wasn't as goofy and the face looked very menacing..
