Yeah, my facebook has been throwing up memories of volume 5 these last weeks, so it's anniversary time.
Hah, i just realized when Nora said "It certainly feels like the original" while arm wrestling Yang, that they have arm wrestled before. Just catching that now.
Oscar, "Understood." Not "yes." Quite a difference.
Ozpin said that not Oscar.
Indeed, he didn't say "Yes".
And a very good point, that was Oz responding, not Oscar.
Still a lie of omission. Maybe he didn’t fully agree to it, but he understands that withholding anything else is the final strike. As it should be. 🤗

One of the things I like is that Yang _was_ listening to Raven. She was learning from her mom even while she wasn't buying into her opinions or plans. That's some serious adulting.
10:46 Do keep in mind that "understood" is not the same as "agreed."
But he understands that if he lies and gives half truths that he then loses the help of everyone else. Him not officially saying yes or agreeing to it doesn’t get him off the hook if/when it happens again. 🤗

We try to keep in what we can. Rooster Teeth lets us post the full reactions which is nice however they just can’t make any ad money. So they might be why other people chop them up 🤗
Great reaction! This episode is so great. Ozpin had said: “I’ve made more mistakes than any man, woman and child on this planet. But at this moment, I would not consider your appointment as leader to be one of them.”
I like what you said about history repeating itself and being interested to see if it will or if they can break it.
You mentioned the Kids having the world on their shoulders after beacon, but remember they chose to take up that mantle literally in a sense because Ozpin had a backup plan, he had people to go to. Ozpin didn’t pick his team, the kids became his team when they set out on their respective journey’s by choice. We as the viewer knew it would happen but none of them did, they didn’t expect it. They made their choices and took responsibility when no one else seemed too. It speaks more to Team RWBY and JNPR that they decided something had to be done no matter what.
This is one of my fav episodes in Rwby bec it’s not combat or crazy scenes but it feels like for a moment we’re back at beacon before the fall and everyone’s just happy and having fun again because it felt like for nearly 3 seasons everything was so depressing and serious so we needed this feeling of just comfort
I completely agree. I also like how there is still this underlying subconcious tone that it's not quite right because both teams are missing a member. Like it's happy but for some reason you can just tell that it's not *quite* right, ya know?
If you listen to the conversation between Yang and Ozpin again *he never actually agreed not to lie to her*. He said "understood" which is not the same thing...
He understood that if he does lie to them though that they will no longer be on his side. So he maybe never agreed not to lie or tell half truths but he understands the repercussions that will happen if he does. 🙂
Yang: “…No more Lies, No mor half truths!”
Ozpin: “Understood.”
Me: “Pause Hol Up! That was kinda agreeably Dismissive…!?” 🤔
To this day I still don't understand why they reacted so strongly to him giving them a magic power.

So some people don’t understand why Yang was so upset at Ozpin for making her family birds. Most fans chose to believe it’s more so that Ozpin guided teenagers towards a life altering choice without the full context of what they were signing up for.
While yes that is true, as huntsmen they signed up for a job and plus the perk of being able to turn into birds isnt really that bad
I never understood why Yang was so upset. It doesn't sound like a curse to me and they were given a choice to receive that power. Bird is the word.
I think it was also because raven made it sound like it was forced upon them and yang seemed to calm down when told they chose to let oz do that to them, but that could just be how i interpreted it but yeah i would love to be able to turn into a bird lol

@@lavilygalaxy4541 bro even if it was forced upon them it still wouldn't matter because it can be turned off. Also Yang taking what Raven said at face value is rich considering she told her not to believe everything Oz tells her.

Understood, does not equal "I will do this," it only means "I understand your statement."
Okay so In Ozpins defense these kids are showing they can't handle the truth.....or secrets....trying my best to not say much. Anywho I'm 100% with Ozpin from here on. Putting one self in his shoes
It's often easy to say what one should do as we observe the story from the outside, but none of us handle things perfectly when we're in the thick of it and under stress. Ozpin's situation reminds me uncomfortably of current world events; there really isn't anything he can do that won't make some number of characters/fans angry. And yet doing nothing, like Raven or the old hermit from the Maidens fairytale, isn't the right thing to do either.
@@marithflugelhorn7352 without going into too much detail, hes been through way more than any person should in their well his case "lives". Taking over someone else's life being part of that load...all the death all the lose with the heaviest of burdens on His shoulders alone yeah itll ware anyone down an make them paranoid...which ia why I dont blame him.

@@Kwuil-Shi Oh, same. He's trying. Everyone on the team is, carrying their own baggage and perspectives, and everyone makes mistakes at some point due to that. Part of what makes this show interesting.
- Man, Ren's speech about self-progress is something we could all afford to learn.
- Raven withheld information for not siding with her, but Ozpin told a lot more information before giving the choice whether or not to join. Of course, given his subtle wording, Oz clearly still has a few more skeletons he's not yet ready to bring out of his closet...
Not much to really say about this episode. It really was just nice to see most of our kids just relaxing and reconnecting.
Yang immediately taking Raven’s advice and putting it into practice by questioning Oz. Which, fair.
Such a great episode. Wholesome start, and what's that great line from Lawrence of Arabia? "The man who tells half-truths... has forgotten where he put it."
Fun Facts
Fact 1: While not an intended reference, one of the dishes served at the meal is connected to Ren's name. The serving plate in front of Weiss had a vegetable called renkon (レンコン) or "lotus root", named because of the flower-shaped pattern of holes inside it.
Fact 2: After the meal, Jaune mentions that he's going to be sick, and Yang responds, "Easy there, Vomit Boy. I believe in you." Jaune responds, "Oh, we're doing nickname throwbacks now..." This is a reference to the first episode of RWBY, "Ruby Rose", in which Jaune throws up during the Vale Airship's flight to Beacon Academy; Ruby wonders who they'll meet there and says she hopes they'll be better than "Vomit Boy", then points out that Yang has puke on her shoe. In the following episode, "The Shining Beacon", after Ruby meets her other future teammates in quick succession, Jaune introduces himself to her; Ruby immediately recalls him throwing up on the ship. As Jaune insists that motion sickness is common, Ruby apologizes for the mean nickname.
Fact 3: When Weiss laughs at the exchange between Yang and Jaune, Nora says, "I mean, the Ice Queen seems to like it." This nickname has previously been used for Weiss by multiple characters in Volume 2, including by Jaune and Sun in "Welcome to Beacon", by Roman Torchwick in "Painting the Town...", and by Yang in "Extracurricular".
Fact 4: From 5:54 to 6:06, Nora plays "Shine", the song Team JNPR dances to at the Beacon Dance, on her Scroll.
Fact 5: When Ozpin (in Oscar's body) is describing his own powers, he mentions that he gave most of his magic to four young women who would become the first Maidens. This is a reference to the fairy tale The Story of the Seasons, as introduced in the Volume 3 episode "Fall". Pyrrha only summarizes the tale in that episode, but the story is told in full in the RWBY: World of Remnant episode "The Four Maidens", narrated by Ozpin himself.

The beginning of this chapter is so wholesome, definitely one of my favourite episodes in all of RWBY^^
The attitudes about Ozpin's 'interference' with Raven and Qrow always rang false to me, the "how could you do that to them?!"-ness of it. It's a pretty nifty trick. If you had the choice to go through life as you are now, or with the added ability to change into a bird, wouldn't you take it?

"I don't get it. That sounds exclusively beneficial." - What Ruby should have said in-show. Instead of in the "So This is Basically RWBY" video.

The reuniting of these guys is always great i love seeing them all like a whole happy family we just need the kitty ;-;, also best girl doing best girl things is always great, ruby being adorable and happy as almost always, the yangst (yang angst) is very heavy these few episode and more to come but im glad shes back in action and being herself somewhat again she didnt lose herself when she lost her arm she just had to come back around but im so happy she did. but im so glad they are all bafk together. Team jnr + oscar/ozpin and qrow included.
Lots of lore this episode i cant wait for vols 6-9 not that these past vols 4-5 weren't good because i think they are especially the music, but im excited for my top fav vols to come. Until next time as always enjoyed the reaction ❣️🌹
