I've got my Mi Band 5 yesterday and it's so much better than my Fitbit Versa 2! I love the small and simple design on the Mi Band and it has so many better features and more exercise options than the Fitbit. The small design also makes it comfortable enough to wear everyday.
Great review as always. But it does seem to be just an incremental update over the mi band 4! They should call it mi band 4s! As u mentioned already we need 'always on display' option. But apart from that, I wish they introduce a 'plus' version in the mi band 6, with option of onboard storage for storing music and able to listen using BT earphones!
I think you're asking for too much. It is still very cheap band. If you want always on display or storage for music buy some of more expensive watches or bands.

12:12 yepp it is even happen with the screen LOCKED ON hahaha. My band 5 battery can only last for 7 days with all notification turn on and i wore it everyday which is not bad. I personally love it for its functionality over the price :)
As long as it doesn't wig out and vibrate randomly and prevent me from using the thing at all, even charging it, or in any way functional, and as long as the screen doesn't just fall out and render the entire thing a dead weight, it already has far surpassed any fitbit device I've owned...
The band is excellent but I'd recommend using the 'notify for mi band' third party application which offers far more options for tracking than the mi fit app.

Mine is coming Monday and I'm so excited. I just gave my sister my second Fitbit Charge 2. And I can't deal with the price anymore. They only lasted one year each for how much they cost.
Just got my mi band 5 today. It's amazing IF this is your first mi band, but actually it is not so much upgrade from mi band 4.. so better hold on with your mi band 4 if you have already have one. Another drawbacks of mi band 5 is it isn't supported by Amazfit apps yet so no luck for connecting it with Strava (iphone)
I have the mi band 5 and really like it. One thing I find frustrating is that the numbers on the screen when you use the outdoor running function are very small and hard to see whilst you are running along. Is there an app that will sync with the mi fit app that will show bigger numbers on the screen that are more visible, especially the stopwatch element?
I just wanted to say thanks for this review. My fitbit charge 3 died, and I really didn't want to spend over 100.00 just to track steps and running workouts. I also do weight watchers and like to get credit for my workouts. I synced mi fit app to apple health on my phone, then use apple health to get the info into my ww app. It's working great so far and I really like the Mi Band 5! Thanks again for your review!
I would hope it's used for when you're running/cycling uphill or downhill. It might provide for more accurate calorie, distance or speed readings? Here's hoping.

Good review! As a Miband 4 owner some of the downsides are still present in the Miband 5. Timer and stopwatch stop showing because the screen is not always on, even in these use cases where it should be. Heartrate monitor looks ok for everyday use now (Miband 4 is very poor at this), but is too inaccurate for realistic sportstracking. Seems it is on par with the Amazfit watches now (subbrand of Xiaomi), who suffer the same heartrate issues. And shower/pool setting is missing, which makes it unable to wear under the shower without starting workouts accidentaly or other unintended behaviour. As I was looking to replace my Miband 4 I finally decided to buy a Garmin Vivoactive watch, which does all this and so much more at a much higher cost. For people with a small budget or just the daily activity monitoring wish it is a nobrainer, though.
The Garmin vivoactive watches are very impressive. If you want to seriously track your health and fitness, Garmin is an easy recommendation. Thanks for watching!
@@MillennialJesus no updayecon band 5 about REM smart alarm...in the past old versions (also other brands) had those features..but seems they were very inacurate with REM stages in the morning and removed those good options...i think companies are collecting more accurate data from actual bands to develop beter smart alarms

Is it possible to turn off the bluetooth on this device? I've read somewhere that is not. Sleeping 8 hours with bluetooth on beaming right next to my head sounds not very "healthy".

I have a mi band 3, i'd say they use similar materials in the 5, careful with DEET mosquito/insect spray it can cloud the HR sensor

Can it wake you up? With something like a vibration motor?
(12:14 ish) just set your band to lock in settings(on the band) and you will have a lock like with the swimming function.
