Wow, I can't wait to get me an Orange Dark Terror! This Dual Dark would be perfect with the two channel design but the price is considerably more than the Dark Terror single channel.
Just get a a/ b switch on ebay or amazon morley makes a good one.. I have both amps hooked together with a bls chorus pedal its a mxr with duel line out...Sometimes I run my marshall and orange at the same time with that bls mxr chorus pedal it sounds awesome you get the best of both worlds the marshall tone mixed with the orange tone..the bls chorus mxr pedal has duel line out so its in stereo.. The ab switch turns one amp off and the other still works..
well you can but you have to change all the settings its just a few knobs but say if you want to do a song with distortion then go straight to a clean part you would have to stop and change your settings.
The orange micro terror is only 125v to 150 bucks and it rocks for cheap does awesome cleans and with a distortion pedal it does pretty good..The dark terror is a awesome metal amp you sony even need a pedal but i usually run a mxr eq or /and a mason od 808 pedal..That amp is badass i bought mine for 400 bucks hardly used..
Before you judge this amplifier watch iGuitarmag's review of it. I watched iGuitar magazines review and it sounded amazing, was really impressed with the dynamics!
Honestly how do you fuck up getting a decent tone from an amp with years of demoing experience? Move the mic away from the center of the cone and back off on the gain. Jesus christ this sounds repulsive.
Everyone and their mother knows what an orange amp sounds like. This demo was to show what it sounds like pushed and to show the limit of what you can get out of it. Not what tone is has with a conservative setup and EQ.
I don't understand how someone as big as Guitar World hasn't figured out how to properly mic or present good sound in their videos yet. It's pretty ridiculous.
Paul was really having a hard time speaking in this video, it was really weird... "I'll also hit that as well, so you can hear the amount of gain on tap too...." Ugh...
I am new to playing guitar, and have been given all I have by my veteran friends. I say that because I was kinda shocked that this amp cost 2500 bucks. Is that an average price?
For a proffesional British or American made gigging amp, yeah. There's a little brother to this that's made in China, which is called the Dark Terror, a high gain-metal version of the Tiny Terror. You can pick up one of those for much less than 1000 bucks.
No way man you can get yourself something better for cheaper look at orange th30,evh 5150 iii, mesa dual/triple rec, peavey 6505+,blackstar ht and a jcm 800 just to name a few.
+Madrix999 I just got a blackhead ht 100 new for 700 guitar center carries a bunch of used dual/triple recs for 900 on their website and zzzounds has used evh 5153 for 1000 and eBay has them all for cheap as well. Not one of the heads I name are even close to 2 grand even new.
Great review and amazing amp, but...seriously, with so many guitars to choose, Paul play with the worst guitar for this type of amp! I like Ibanez but this is a "metal" guitar with a lot of bass; if use Mesa Boogie, Engl amp(metal amp)...it's ok but with the Orange rock sound...perplexity everywhere! Ibanez + Orange =???? Strange coupling
SteveOTheMan16 Of course, the dark series is...DARK! My disappointment comes from the Ibanez guitar because it has too much bass, not suitable for this amp that has a very beautiful dynamic sound but unfortunately in this video, the sound is...so flat. The demonstration would be better, for example, with a Gibson LP or a PRS
mercuryfaith Or a different metal guitar such as a Schecter perhaps. Like you said, Ibanez guitars, especially the lower end ones, are infamous for being bassy. They are often made of "bass" wood. It's not really a favorite of mine haha
mercuryfaith I recognize your personal opinion mate but, I gotta disagree. He knew that he was going to showcase the high gain of this amp and he chose the perfect guitar for it - Ibanez RG made for heavy rock and metal sound yet, it has good versatility too as you could hear with the clean and overdriven riffs. Perhaps the way he mic'd the cab let too much bass thru in the sound... The other guitars you mentioned would have sounded great too like the Gibson/Epiphone LP both of which I've heard thru the single channel version of this amp but, the RG was simply smokin' hot :)
Really don't know why they have the gain cranked on channel two.. I have a Dark Terror and that's something you do not want to do. Seeing Orange said channel two is basically a 100 watt Dark Terror, & These fuckers have a LOT of gain on tap. Though I guess he did say so you can hear just how much gain it has. As for the sound, they just have the mic placement a bit too close to the Cone, I'm sure this thing sounds and feels as killer as ever coming from Orange! If it means anything, really liking Pauls' beard.
I am usually a big defender of of these Guitar World reviews, but this thing seriously sound like the cabinet is being recorded at the bottom of a mud pit. I know this thing sounds way better than it is coming across in this video, but in this vid it is just bad sounding.
I'm disappointed, I've played the dark terror and it sounds amazing. Sounds like the mic is placed directly in the middle and made it so fizzy. Also I want to see another review with a les Paul.
shame on you for the obvious bad Mike placement ,and poor choice of instrument (imho of course) for this review ..... THIS IS DONE CONSISTENTLY .. I FART IN YOUR GENERAL DIRECTION SIR !!!
it REALLY is time for you guys to learn how to properly mic up and guitar amp..
Jonas Schewelius Amen.
I’ve had less fizz on my soda while shaving my girlfriends pubes
Another great amp made to sound like a fucking Roland cube with the gain cranked full...
How come everybody is hating on this amazing amp it sounds great
ALL ORANGE IS SICK!!! GOING TO PICK UP THE DUAL DARK 100 TO GO WITH MY DARK TERROR AND MICRO DARK. THANKS PAUL!!!
cuts the mids pumps up the gain = here ya go kids, heavy metal !
classic paul..
Wow, I can't wait to get me an Orange Dark Terror! This Dual Dark would be perfect with the two channel design but the price is considerably more than the Dark Terror single channel.
I just hooked my dark terror to my micro terror with a a b foot switch and thats my clean channel..I don't have 50 watts but it works for me..
Just get a a/ b switch on ebay or amazon morley makes a good one.. I have both amps hooked together with a bls chorus pedal its a mxr with duel line out...Sometimes I run my marshall and orange at the same time with that bls mxr chorus pedal it sounds awesome you get the best of both worlds the marshall tone mixed with the orange tone..the bls chorus mxr pedal has duel line out so its in stereo.. what amp do you have??
The orange micro terror is only 125v to 150 bucks and it rocks for cheap does awesome cleans and with a distortion pedal it does pretty good..The dark terror is a awesome metal amp you sony even need a pedal but i usually run a mxr eq or /and a mason od 808 pedal..That amp is badass i bought mine for 400 bucks hardly used..
thats the one i have..
Seriously that initial setting sounded like a practice amp running a cheapo distortion pedal.
+FPChris yep, agreed. sounded like farts
Sounds great paul
with blind test i could say 100% that sound was from boss metal zone
sounds more like a distortion pedal than an actual amp. maybe the mic was too much centered?
Before you judge this amplifier watch iGuitarmag's review of it. I watched iGuitar magazines review and it sounded amazing, was really impressed with the dynamics!

SteveOTheMan16 .... .. No I've seen demos which actually achieve that, without sounding like a warm shart..
Elefunk Dudeamister Yes. Guitar World demos should be definitive across the board. Yet...
Sounds like dimes tone and it sounds pretty cool
I love the honest comments in Paul's reviews lol. Sounds like a warm shaft meets a metal zone pedal 🙌🏼😂
That amp has some balls!!!
Nice one Paul I dig the ibanez!
Love the amp. What model Ibanez is that?
This sounds absolutely awful, and I know it's not the amp. Bad job Guitar World. Orange is going to be pissed.
Yeah you´re right. It sounds like a piece of shit.
I don't understand how someone as big as Guitar World hasn't figured out how to properly mic or present good sound in their videos yet. It's pretty ridiculous.
flips220 Totally ridiculous. I couldn't agree more.
+LordOfThisWorld74 playing rock with a metal amp hmm yea Orange is going to be pissed
Personally, I think Ibanez sound like ass. Never liked their tone or pickups.
Paul was really having a hard time speaking in this video, it was really weird...
"I'll also hit that as well, so you can hear the amount of gain on tap too...." Ugh...
Bulletproof ey? are there people shooting these things or?
Is it just me, or do high gain Oranges always need an ESP/LTD with actives to make them sound good?
Nice amp!
i like this sound
The person responsible for recording the audio must be a senior member of a union. Nothing else can explain why he hasn't gotten shit-canned yet.
Doesn't do Orange justice. The Dark Terror amp is easily the best I've ever played through.
I am new to playing guitar, and have been given all I have by my veteran friends. I say that because I was kinda shocked that this amp cost 2500 bucks. Is that an average price?

Zac Anderson
all of does you just named are all turning around 2000$!!!
You should get yourself a roland cube for starting out, then you could go with higher priced amps like randalls
Paul, What speakers and effects are you using please?
Great review and amazing amp, but...seriously, with so many guitars to choose, Paul play with the worst guitar for this type of amp! Ibanez + Orange =???? Strange coupling
The dark series of amps are geared to heavy gain metal players. Not rock players. Normal orange amps are for rock players.
SteveOTheMan16 Of course, the dark series is...DARK! My disappointment comes from the Ibanez guitar because it has too much bass, not suitable for this amp that has a very beautiful dynamic sound but unfortunately in this video, the sound is...so flat. ITT: People who will hopefully never run a studio or be a sound man.

Premier Guitar: I bet we can make a nice amp sound absolute like shit. Guitar World: Hold my beer.
Awesome Ibanez, which type is it?
Possibly an RG655.
I am usually a big defender of of these Guitar World reviews, but this thing seriously sound like the cabinet is being recorded at the bottom of a mud pit. I know this thing sounds way better than it is coming across in this video, but in this vid it is just bad sounding.
Yes. Please setup your mic(s) and recording setup in an ear-pleasing fashion!
I'm disappointed, I've played the dark terror and it sounds amazing. Sounds like the mic is placed directly in the middle and made it so fizzy. Also I want to see another review with a les Paul.
Guitar World - lets do the same review with Ola Englund. Put the videos side by side. Results speak for themselves. STRATEGIZE your product reviews!
this really sounds like my metal vox plug mini amplifier. The one that costs about 40 bucks. ugh.
And thats when i converted to Mesa
I just watch a preview of Roland 40GX and when i watch this the guy has beards ... big change
Very eddy van halen like
shame on u guitar world for ruining the tone of such a great amp....
RG 550!!!
I own this amp. Its sounds WAAAAAY better than this terrible demo. I legit have no idea how he made it sound so bad.
sounds cool to me :D i dunno why people say it sounds bad, i beg to differ :P sounds cool nd all :D if you have something better, please show me :)

I can get a better tone recording with my phone's camera. Seriously guys, what the fuck?
shame on you for the obvious bad Mike placement ,and poor choice of instrument (imho of course) for this review ..... THIS IS DONE CONSISTENTLY ..
I FART IN YOUR GENERAL DIRECTION SIR !!!
this dude can talk me out of an amp so quick. they need to take his guitar away from him. surelyt hey can find a decent player to demo right?
wtf why all those high gain amps actually sounds so shitty?
It's not the amp, the dude scooped the mids and maxed out treble, sounds like.
5150III sounds better in my opinion.
that dose not surprise me nothing sound's better at high gain than a cranked 5150 iii
Sounds like farting !
dog ahit,,,
First!
and?
Terrible sound. I would never buy this amp.
horrible tone
Horrible
