David M. Rubenstein is a Co-Founder and Co-Chairman of The Carlyle Group, one of the world’s largest and most successful private investment firms. Mr. Rubenstein co-founded the firm in 1987. Since then, Carlyle has grown into a firm managing $246 billion from 29 offices around the world.
Prior to forming The Carlyle Group in 1987, Mr. Rubenstein practiced law in Washington, D.C., with Shaw, Pittman, Potts & Trowbridge LLP (now Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP). From 1977 to 1981 Mr. Rubenstein was Deputy Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy. From 1975 to 1976, he served as Chief Counsel to the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Constitutional Amendments. From 1973 to 1975, Mr. Rubenstein practiced law in New York with Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP.
Among other philanthropic endeavors, Mr. Rubenstein is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and the Council on Foreign Relations, a Regent of the Smithsonian Institution, and serves on the Board of Directors or Trustees of The National Gallery of Art, Johns Hopkins Medicine, University of Chicago, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, the Institute for Advanced Study, the Brookings Institution and the World Economic Forum. This just scratches the surface of all his titles!
In 2016, Mr. Rubenstein donated $18.5 million in 2016 to restore the Lincoln Memorial and fund new exhibits and research - this is an example of someone who uses their wealth for impact and it shows. I was honored to have him on The School of Greatness!
Join me on Episode 1,082 to learn about the billionaire mindset to leadership and living a great life with David Rubenstein!

It is great to hear that people are requesting hand written notes. I was taught calligraphy as a skill that was important, we had to practice and practice. Writing beautifully was valued as an extension of ones personality, as etiquette, and part of the gift to the recipient. I was fortunate to work for 3 companies that also considered hand written notes as a valued part of business communication, to thank partners and express how we appreciated them. I felt that it was a reminder to keep relationships in the heart not just the head, a very nice professional touch.

A wise and humble man. It is nice to hear the most important things in his life were his parents living to see him succeed and to raise his kids, see his grandchildren and give some of his money to help others and his country. I agree with him that doing what makes you happy and finding a balance is best. I love that the billionaire mindset according to Rubenstein is not about money!

A stock market, equity market or share market is the aggregation of buyers and sellers of stocks (also called shares), which represent ownership claims on businesses; these may include securities listed on a public stock exchange, as well as stock that is only traded privately, such as shares of private companies which are sold to investors through equity crowdfunding platforms. And I'm making so much from my investments...Having profitable Investments are the best than savings...AH!!..the feeling of waking to a rise in your portfolio or having passive incomes from your monthly investments in dividends is the best??

I’m 40 and own a $1.1million portfolio all from my investments in the stocks market..I invest with the guidance and aid of Mr Noud Mikan my trader who has been handling, diversifying and managing my portfolio for years.Working with the guidance, forecasting and expertise of professional minds has proven very efficient and profits bringing..I recently bought some fractional shares, diversified in pharmaceutical stocks and also chances on high growth. So far already I've gotten 20% on returns hopefully I’ll get to $2million sooner

Always pay attention , who comes on and why, why do billionaires have to write books this late in life. The system always is looking so watch out for propaganda, the 1% never wants ppl they don't want the new rich anywhere near them in the next generations, they think at least 100 years ahead. Be careful what you believe, Google , think -tank's there are so many in DC. What do you think they have been doing for 40 yrs . I have not researched their founding date..

I think people are born with certain levels of inner drive. It's an insatiable energy that you almost can't put your finger on. I believe that is THE most important factor as to whether people are "successful" or not. If you don't have that absolutely undeniable drive, you just wont be bothered enough to keep going and keep pushing and keep trying even when things fail. It will simply be a part of who you are. It's not about 'talent' it's about the inner energetic desire to keep pushing on and on and on. It wont feel natural to some, but if you're born with it, you wont be able to deny this feeling.
