As a DNB DJ from 20 years ago, I love that you appreciate the genre! I have to recommend to you the indy film "Concentric Beats" if you can find it online. It's all about he DnB/Jungle music scene in LA in the late 90s.
I'm getting a computer again soon, and I've had TBW on my wishlist for years. Can't wait to play it. Unrelated, but I miss the maple bars from that place on Preston a lot. Only things i miss about the Ville are the food and the wonderful people I rolled dice with
Tbh it’s awesome that you still use MP3s! But also I thought you (as the maker of the sleaze video) should know that spotify told me that September was my “Indie Sleaze Synthesizer Synthpop” and I think that Apollo really wanted you to make that video lol Added the movies to my watchlist on letterboxd- you have good taste!
Hey! thanks for the list, some things on there i wasn't aware of and definitely want to check out! I somehow didn't know about the Coen film, that's going straight on the list :) A hardcore band I heard this year that got my old bones moving is 'Gel', try the song 'Persona'
ooh, Gel is a little more old school but with a female vocalist? Love it. If you like female-fronted hardcore, I will volley back to you with NØ MAN -> ruclips.net/video/P6-zbKCWjuM/видео.html&ab_channel=NoMan-Topic
@@ThatDangDad ooo nice, i like that one too, kind of intense and ominous, another for the playlist! ps. I'm also one of those who collect my songs as files and carefully arrange them on my devices like they are eggs that need a nest :)
Hope your Christmas goes wonderfully :) These recommendations are excellent! You have good taste! I'm so out of the movie scene nowadays so it's rare that someone recommends something that makes me go, "Shit, I NEED to watch this."
If you knocked loose you might also like ERRA. They dropped a dreamy metalcore album in 2024. Cure has a lot of banger but my favorite is Rumor of Light. Bryan Garris and Friends also did a interesting thing with Chris Motionless. Slaughterhouse has two versions one with the Motionless In White band featuring Bryan Garris and the other version with the Knocked Loose band featuring Chris Motionless. Both of these songs are bangers.
@@ThatDangDad You'll like Panam. Also, don't blow off Judy. I normally wouldn't tell folks what to do in an RPG but her questline includes my favourite videogame quest ever. That quest includes a lot of my "favourite videogame x's ever" but I don't want to spoil that.
Drive Away Dolls looks fantastic! Thanks for putting it on my radar. Monkey Man was already on my list. Good to hear a solid recommend for it though. As far as music goes, the wife and I have been enjoying a pop-rock band named Sub-Radio, they're very good and worth a listen. Also, thanks for turning me on to The Northern Boys last week! Game of the year for me is probably Elden Ring (I know, contentious). Finally started it once they confirmed there would only be the one DLC, and it's been using a lot of mental energy; I watch at least as much lore as I play the game itself!
I more than appreciate getting recommendations of things I haven't even heard of yet despite my interests in these fields. Tactical Breach Wizards and TECs all sound interesting.
i LOVED Gunpoint and Tactical Breach Wizards looks great, really hoping it gets a Mac port i liked Drive Away Dolls a lot (the leads are extremely charming!) but i think Monkey Man is the only movie i saw in the theatre twice this year (my favourite movie was I Saw the TV Glow though)
@@ThatDangDad thank you. I don't really have anything to add to the conversation, but I want you to know that I appreciate all of the content that make
Loved Monkey Man and your other recs, that I've seen. May I be so bold as to suggest both the Kneecap movie and their recent LP Fine Art? As well as technically insane bilingual rapping, fitting the flag for minority language rights and visibility, they capture the city and scene I am native to and know and love really well, in a way that many have tried before but few have succeeded. By all accounts the honour travels so you should all be on for a good time.
The biggest flaw in the Wickiverse is the hard shift into magical realism after the first movie. How much better would it have been if each Final Boss were some other form of capitalism, not just a bunch of underworld crime bosses standing in for dead gods?
If you'd like more british music to enjoy, have a look at Kid Kapichi. Their 3rd album "There goes the Neighbourhood" came out this year and is very good.
"Even though it was directed by a man" Maybe hold onto that thought. People thought two men made Bound. And Ethan did want to name the film "Drive-Away Dykes." He should know he's not allowed to do that - unless of course he has an announcement to make. Maybe there's going to be a Coen Experience or Coen Starship rebrand in the future.
Trans Elder Commandos sounds too BASED.
I've been enjoying Camille's work as well

I thought I was the only weirdo bumping Knocked Loose and Dizzie at the same time
LOVED MONKEY MAN. SAW IT 3 TIMES IN THE THEATER. Also yes. Those are indeed the right three words to sell the movie.
Yooooooo love Knocked Loose
Lovely list. Happy holidays from Norway, Phil❤
I did not expect you to be into grime/dubstep/ukg :o
i contain MULTITUDES!!!

Currebtly playing TBW now, and loving it. Especially the humor, it's on point
Hbomberguy game reviewer arc?

Somebody's enjoying Cyberpunk 2077. I'd love to see your reaction when Panam messes with you.
Ooh fun, I don't know who that is, I just now got Johnny popping up making his little japes. Been just cruising around the city lookin' at stuff

Omg Driveaway Dolls blew me away, loved it ❤❤❤
I heard about Ete but I forgot about it. Thanks for the reminder

Tactical Breach Wizards and TECs all sound interesting.
Monkey man sounds good, hope it shows up on a free website. cinemas aren't covid safe and I don't have dvd money.
Didn't know about that Ethan Cohen film, looking it up ASAP 🙏🏿🖤
I'm a zoomer that only does mp3 bootlegs on uptempo so you're not alone.
Ete going on the list!

Was expecting not to have heard of any of this and then there was the Knocked Loose and Camille name drops. Fuckin ay.

i don’t play a lot of different games but i bought celeste during a sale and i like it

Oh yeah, I liked some of their stuff, I'll check out that new album

I'm starting to like being in my 40's, but my 41st is shortly after Trump gets sworn in so my opinion may change shortly
