- We've had a couple requests for basic maintenance videos lately. Thought it was time I started filming them. Filmed an oil change today as the first one. Actually tried to film a belt change as well, but the camera angles ended up being wonky. I'll try again soon.

Great to see you back!! Kinda curious why you would spray brake parts cleaner on the block while the oil filter was out....not worried it would get into the filter opening and into the engine a bit?
The cleaner flashes off so fast it's not an issue.
I have a 97 with 1FZ-FE that has 227k miles. Im in California so not cold at all. Do i still use 5W30 or 15W40? Thanks!
We use 5w30 in most of them. I run 15w40 in mine because it's tired and the thicker oil helps get a bit more oil pressure.
What oil do you recommend for a high-mileage (200K+) 1FZ-FE ?
We generally run 5w30 in them. It's going to depend a lot on your climate and engine wear. My personal truck has a ton of bearing wear so low oil pressure. I run 15w40 in it to get the pressure back up some. You wouldn't want to do that on a tight motor in cold climates though.
There is so much conflicting information out there on what to run (IH8MUD); it's nice to see what an expert/pro uses, and that it is congruous with factory recommendation.@@OTRAMM

@@OTRAMMYeah, people who put LS engines into LCs definitely do not get the reason for buying them in the first place.
I moved away from GM, never to move back. Not a chance I'd ever put a smudge like that on my TLC
