  • In this video we’ll look at using Maya 2020 Retopologize and Remesh operations to fix a hard surface object. These operations are now available through the menus instead of the command line and are great for speeding up the clean up objects. If you’re looking for a more detailed understanding of the settings I’d recommend checking out the documentation.

    Tip: edge softness/hardness is taken into account and will give a sharper result the harder they are.

    This video is so good, how does it only have 633 views! Do you need to remesh before retopo?

    • @SnapLaunch
      @SnapLaunch  3 года назад +1

      Thanks - that's nice to hear! As for re-meshing, I often find I get better results doing the remesh before retopo, but this is likely going to depend on the meshes you're working with and the target face count you're working towards.

    I did the automatic retopology, the same way it was bad, he messed up, it seemed that I sculpted it, the topology is messy, unbalanced on one side, it didn't work

    I'm sorry to ask but I still don't understand why Hard surface models like buildings or furniture need retopologizing, could you explain it, please?

    • @SnapLaunch
      @SnapLaunch  Год назад

      Good question. There are a variety of reasons, retopologization can make the model easier for further editing, desirable subdivisional smoothing, easier UV mapping, better real-time performance and more. Does that help?

    How can I make the Maya with retopo have a symmetry in X?

    No le creooooo, entre más días simplifican aún más el trabajo de modelado.

    when I use poly remesh, maya aplly an absurdly high amount of triangular polygons. Even setting Max Edge Length to 1.5.
    Do you know what it can be? And how to fix it? I need to put a low amount of these polygons!
    Ty you so much! Nice tutorial too! =)

    • @SnapLaunch

      The Max Edge Length may need to be set much higher if you have a larger object than what I demonstrated with - try 10 and 100. Does that make a difference? =)

    still bad... the auto retopo in maya is just plain bad...
