I'm only two minutes into the video, but when talking about how you can "really see EA's influence," you're showing podium pass, VIP, and the item shop, which were all already in F1 2021. The only thing that's worse about them is the addition of the F1 Life items, which nobody wants and hopefully no one is buying. You also speak highly of F1 2021, a game that was universally maligned for its handling changes (curbs of death anyone?) and for not having any new features other than Braking Point, and removing features like classic cars. You attribute MyTeam to F1 2021 when it was actually introduced in F1 2020. If anything, most people I've heard seem to think F1 2020 or F1 2019 were the highpoint of the series. This feels very poorly researched to me.
No sorry to say but in terms of handling and realism f1 2021 was the best out of the older one. If you like f1 22 or f1 2021 one more is up to you, but we had pretty good realism in f1 2021 they added damage to side pots, floor and the rear wing. Yes I know it is completely bugged and they had to do a lot of fixes, but they really improved. What I don't understand is how codemasters don't seem to understand how an f1 caar behaves when driving over kerbs.
I think 21 had a better handling model, other than the kerbs, but codies have always had an issue with kerbs. In terms of an overall game, 20 was probably better but there's not much between them. It's not like how this guy is portraying it in that 21 was this universally loved game that was then butchered by EA. Most of the community feel "ah shit here we go again" with another poor launch. This is a particularly bad one, some would say the worst ever, but it's not like EA have come in and mutilated it, they added in stupid features no-one wanted but if the game launched in a workable state not many would be fussed.
@@jebus89 yes I agree. Honestly speaking I didn't really enjoy f1 2020. I agree with you tho that they just should release playable games, but they just don't have enough time to do so
@Dilandau300 complete agree. This youtuber has criticised EA for monetisation with the podium pass (which was already in the game) and then straight away gives a 60 second sponsor in his video. Just gave this a thumbs down and hopefully don't come across the channel again
@@tobiaslumplecker7666 in terms of tyre model F1 22 tops the 21 and handling too in previous game you dont needed care tyre temp or even 70% wear car still stable as tyres about 10~20% ish make no sense in 21 but in 22 cold tyres and worn tyres are actually threat so if you out of pit you have to choose between do a lap slowly or warm up the tyre by jiggling which finally fun factor to me
The career mode is what i buy these games for and i tend to buy every other year (I'm still playing F1 2020). At some point Steam will offer me the game with a 75% price reduction; that's when I'll jump into this one.
i subscribed to Ea Play for 1$ in steam just to test F1 2021 and having a blast in career mode , if you have interest in F1 2021 i would subscribe to Ea Play or do like you said just wait for a sale. For some reason EA PLAY in xbox game pass sub doesn't have acess to F1 2021 or Dirt rally 2.0 no idea why but for this 2 games alone if you never played them are worth it , there is more games in this sub but i subbed just for f1 and i'm sure f1 22 will go to Ea Play basic sub in 6 months or more.
@@kevingamingjar Fanatec? Are you serious? Fanatec is definitely better than Thrustmaster, but miles away from actually good stuff, like Simucube and Leo Bodnar and even other midrange brands like VRS, Simagic and even Moza.
I mean he was talking about how the cars look specifically, so I don’t think he has any need to start going in specific detail about what was changed in Real F1 on a game review
You can't complain about the AI after that move at 8:00. People bought this game not so much for the hope of new features, there's pretty much nothing left to add, they bought it for the new wing cars. And I didn't hear a word about how the cars in the game behave as a wing car should, if they do.
The Aston Martin was right on the edge of the track, still partly alongside.... and he just moves over no space given - then complains about it? He would do well to pay attention to the built-in proximity arrows, which turn RED when there is an overlap with the other car I guess hes another American, who thinks he knows all about F1, because he watched the last season of DTS on Netflix 😂
Why not? The AI does exactly that which I think is the whole point. I've been on the straight before and the AI just acts as though you are not there and turns into you. It also, no matter if you have the racing line or not, will always take the racing line and push you out of the race. Also, dive bombing down the inside from a mile back and using you as the brake does not work. Most, if not all, of the AI moves in real life would get the driver banned. The only good thing I have noticed is that when you overtake up the inside, the AI does move to give you the room. Also, why is the AI sometimes slow but when you overtake they somehow get an extra 5,000 horsepower and can keep up with you with no problem? Until you get about 2 seconds ahead of them.
Usually I agree with your essays but on this one I kind of dont. First of all I think that Codemasters was/is literally the EA of racing games even before EA acquired them, to name just a few examples: Yearly series without major updates (F1/FIFA), reviving an old franchise and driving it with full speed against a wall (Grid/Battlefront), almost killing the franchise with something the core player base doesnt want (PC3/Dirt 5/BF5), unnecessary season pass/loot boxes in racing games (F1/NFS), "Interesting" dlc politics (DR2.0/many EA Games), dropping support after the release (PC3/ NFS Heat), no steering wheel support at release (Dirt 5 / any NFS by GhostGames). That is bad enough on its own but focussing on the F1 series it doesnt get any better: For F1 2020 Codemasters decided not to include the tracks that were part of that season. Not having them at release was fine since covid turned the F1 calendar upside down but they didnt deliver them at all which is pathetic. Year after year people want to have laser scanned tracks which is easily feasable for Codies but they decide to recycle their assests and use tracks that range from "close" to "how the f did this pass qc". Both F1 2021 and 2022 have an almost equally bad metacritic user score. F1 2021s driving model and online were broken long after release and heavily criticized. It didnt really bring much new stuff compared to F1 2020 and the release was desastrous. Codies on its own did enough stupid things over the last few years and imo EA once isnt the one to blame here.
Same here, I don't really understand what Robo is mad about? I mean there isn't much that can be added to a yearly game thats based on a yearly championship. The "Battlepass" was also added in earlier games before EA even bought CM so I don't get why EA gets shit for that.
@@hugojonsson1013 Last Year they added a Koop Mode to a yearly championship which made the gameplay great. Its possible to build in new features to a game that has the potential to do everything since every year there is a new one. Copy + Paste the game from last year and adding useless stuff, bad work on the ai isint worth it and just lazy
As someone who has recently started playing f1 games (since 2018) and the sport, it seems like we should have saw Codie’s doing this, it seems that 1 year will have massive content drops and changes and the next year it’s about small improvements. For example the story mode is on a 1 year on 1 year off cycle
I also feel as if the price tag of the game is a weird one, with yearly releases like fifa, if someone is looking to buy fifa 22 and they have NEVER played a fifa game or have never owned one, it makes since to pay 60 dollars, but if you but a new fifa game every year then your would be more critical because of the fact that your paying 60 for the improvements and team/player changes
Not like Codies where doing a stellar job before EA took over. There same problems present for multiple years in a row and improvements to actual racing where minimal. Yea, the driving model feels nicer last few years but for example online is being neglected for years now. Even career mode, their selling point, feels kinda stagnant. Saddest thing is, that this will keep on going unless the release structure changes as yearly releases force them to ignore majority of the problems and prevents them from implementing big features. That's something EA had no hands in.
this dude knows nothing about the series. it shows he has not played f1 2020 and f1 2021 when he says that f1 2021 is innovative an unique. he has an ea hate boner and wants views, so he clickbaits the topic without making any bit of research.
It's easy to forget that codemasters was a relatively small study with limited resources. Overall they made good games which improved year on year and largely gave their customers what they wanted. EA is one of the biggest publishers in the world with an insane budget and somehow made the game worse. Its fair to judge them more harshly. Their greed in all their games is actually despicable.
I know this isn't r/simracingstewards but 8:00 was 100% your fault. Other than that I agree with almost everything else you said. I don't know how likely this is (probably very unlikely) but I would like to see another studio have the official F1 license over codies/EA; perhaps Kunos, Reiza or iRacing
I’ve had some pretty blatant hits from the A.I. that just made me turn the game off because it was so dumb. Example: imagine the imola George/Valterri crash from last year but Bottas (me) was on the inside passing George (A.I.) and George turns in on Bottas before the braking point.. it’s brutal in these streets😂 Edit: but yeah the crash in the video was defiantly the dudes fault not the A.I.
I've got the game since probably two or so days after it launched. From the moment I entered my first GP, to my latest, the AI seem to be going for gaps that are there only momentarily and completely wreck my races. I mean, I want wheel to wheel racing for sure. But not like that dude. I would be so happy for anybody to pass me so that I would push back and have fights with other drivers. That's what these games are supposed to be about. I just wish the AI drivers were less aggressive and were more in touch with every situation around them.
Ikr, he just totally cut the Aston off and blamed it on aggressive AI. I can agree this latest game hasn’t really added anything of value, but this video seems more like an EA hate speech than a constructive review.
Agreed. I've made this mistake before and it's definitely my fault. There are some weird instances of hyper aggression from AI like slotting there front tyre between your tyres and just latching on like pitbulls despite you having the inside and them having absolute fields of room to back out into
Last years ai was “dumb” so it wasn’t anything like racing actual drivers. This years ai can be fun at times, they dive bomb you and make mistakes, but when you get bumped off the track or have ai dive bomb into your side pod, it take away from the fun. It would be fine if the ai made these poor decisions every once in a while, but it’s almost every time they come to overtake you. Nevermind the ai having insane straight line speed. With some tweaking we could have great offline racing, but it seems like codemasters is just dragging their feet.
Its way to easy because they are aggressiv but so stupid. They divebombing each others Frontwing of all the time. Lock up every 3 laps and makes more mistakes then my 7 year old me on F1 2012.
Wish we had more than one licenced sports franchise game per year. Back when multiple devs made Football, Soccer, and Racing series games (E.G. Nascar, F1, etc) we got the chance to actually choose what game worked best for us. Man I miss 2K NFL games.
I don’t agree with this at all. F1 life is pointless and dumb but the rest of the game is just 2021 with a facelift. Maybe not worth the upgrade to some but I don’t see anything downgraded. I’ve been playing since F1 2019 and every game has felt like a minor upgrade, similar to other yearly sports franchises.
And thats the thing, there isn't that much to add to a F1 game every year. I mean it's THE same every year in real life besides new regs, team sponsors, drivers, Tracks and so on. So I don't get what Robos point is? The "battlepass" was already in the games event before EA purchased CM
@@user-fn5xg7qt7u jesus christ so gamers are now happy with a release if 'nothing has been downgraded'. No wonder these companies are releasing buggy messes for the community to test with no damage to reputation
I’d have to agree with everyone in the comments, the aggressive ai are perfect to me, your move with lance or Seb at 8:00 was completely your fault, I’ve had long extended multi lap battles without incident in the game and they were genuinely challenging and I was worrying about tire management and stuff (I had a great time) but the aggressiveness never felt over done, it felt like you are really going up against genuine drivers who will take their chances and will try to force you to chicken out as you could do the same, it’s about being a conscious race driver. For every other point I completely agree but my last f1 game was 2013’s f1 so I can’t really say much else.
I can tell you "started" with F1 2021. First of all, it is Codies how is responsible about every single good and bad thing in this game, all EA does is throw money at them. And even then, this is a good game, it's not perfect, certainly isn't F1 2020 but calling it a downgrade from F1 2021 is completely unreasonable. Not only have they made the AI better (with the exception of the straight line issue), the driving model has been improved as well, and to be fair, the issues present at launch have been a Codies staples for years. I can also tell by your driving that you're not really in a position to even comment on AI "aggression" (looking at 8:50 specifically). The only agreeable thing here is the pointless function that F1 Life has, but even then, the mtx on the mode are probably some of the least noticeable you'll see and the mode itself it's not bothersome in that regard either, as you literally unlock the cars by just driving in the game. Oh, and the MTX "issue" you mention, specifically the Podium Pass, those had already been implemented by codies WAY before EA acquired them and even then, they're harmless as they're 100% cosmetic as well. All in all, this video just screams "EA Bad!" to me and completely ignores the fact that the game is 100% done by Codies and again, all EA does is throw money at them and plaster their logo everywhere, which is terrible because Codies in no way deserves the Get Out Of Jail card it's getting now in regards to any issue any of their games have.
The F1 games have been downhill for a while (before EA was even in the picture), same with the DiRT series. DiRT Rally 2 was a huge step down from the first one. Mainly because it was just recycled content but this time it was paid DLC. Don’t even need to talk about DiRT 5. Ever since the main guys at Codies left to join Motorsport Games it’s been pretty shit.
@@Rab2Rab2Rab2 tbh I kinda agree, although I believe DR2.0 is better than the first one, but that's just me preferring the physics and feel of 2.0. But yeah, the DLC system before they started to gift out the game for nothing was insane. And it's there as proof of how predatory Codies was in that regard, since everyone thinks they're angels now and it's all EAs fault.
@@WaifuWarsRacing Yeah I agree its a better game. The way I'm trying to put it is when DiRT Rally came out it was better (the free updates, better liveries, actual new not re used content) vs what DR2 was. It is a massive shame because its not like they've always been like this, but like EA is absolutely not the biggest issue lmao
@@Rab2Rab2Rab2 still DR2.0 im ok with Even DLC price was about 2cent so 'price per content' is there content wise and it has Proper Anti Cheat for Rally game which WRC game lacked so theres no cheated Record usually in Time trial but even then im not look back first DiRT Rally because how grippy on Gravel was other choice is playing RBR league
I feel like formula 1 should just release one game and update it each year with new cars and tracks. Focus mostly on online racing cus that’s what makes these games fun to begin with. They should also add cars from the past. As an f1 game you should be able to drive any f1 car from fangio Mercedes to lauda Ferrari to michaels Ferrari to modern 22 cars.
I agree about F1 Life and partially about the AI. I get your point youre trying to make about micro transactions but that part of the game hasnt changed much at all from the last installment.
If I'm honest, the F1 games are just like the fifa games. You buy it to have a updated grid and in this case, updated cars aswell. You can argue whether it's worth it or not, but as a big fan of the sport I will buy it to enjoy the new racers and cars
I mean other than the absolutely HIDEOUS customization features (car, helmet, suits, etc.) theres nothing really wrong with the game. They even updated almost every single track in forms of kerbs and decorations as well as other things to make them more accurate to real life. I still do believe it was a downgrade, and EA's resources could have gone into something other than F1 life, but fundamentally, the game is fine.
I dont agree with this one unfortunately, were getting updates on this years game and they will improve the game more and more through time. I have way more fun in F1 2022 than in the previous games and i was really sceptical about this years F1.
Wait for those updates cuz EA updates ruin gameplay more than it already is as someone who’s been playing f1 games since the Wii EA have only added money grabs and broken influences now and it’s the worst game to play compared to prior f1 titles
You forgot to mention: -Lack of the story mode added in the previous game -Lack of CLASSIC CARS These two things removed for the sake of what? Some pointless customization feature and Gran Turismo but if it was made by amateurs? EA is a joke
Previous Breaking Point was Kinda let down But still career mode is what i enjoy i still have fun in 22 career by Picking each team made up to manufacturer championship
I think the best thing about this game is the ability to change the paint when customising your car, from gloss metallic etc. aaaand that’s it I suppose
I get your point, but there were transactions in the game before EA came in and in 2022 they needed to do a hole new model and new graphics for F122. I think F122 is not the best F1 games from Codemasters, but it shows some great new approaches and I really think F123 could be with the help from EA the best F1 game ever made.
graphics have barely improved lets be realistic, the AI is actually to agressive and so weird to race with .Also propably the actual downforce models for the floor isnt actually even modelled and if it is ,its definetly oversimplified just like the wings aero model
While I agree with you in the intro that F1 2021 is a good game, the things you highlighted are not the things I'd mention. The story mode is a terrible story without branching paths and with repetitive gameplay. The fact that a story mode exists should not be a selling point if it's this underwhelming. Coop career is a nice idea, I can't say how good it is because I've not tried it and haven't heard much about it from others. My team is an awesome addition, but that was added in F1 2020. What I would mention is that the handling and driving characteristics were improved once again, along with a new damage system which you may or may not like. I think it's really solid. The problem is that the AI seemingly wasn't completely adapted to the new handling, so it's everso slightly worse than F1 2020. I also wish they had kept the classic F1 cars for 2021, that's far more relevant than the sports cars they added for 2022, but 2021 has neither. And online is not the greatest experience. I think F1 2021 is the strongest in the single player career, either with an established team or with My Team, here the game is truly great. The other areas not so much, but overall pretty good.
A lot of the things you mentioned were already in 2021, and the 2020 to 2021 jump was just as bad at the time, hell many people still say 2020 is the best modern F1 game. I can see how EA may have influenced the waste of a feature that is F1 life, but this already started back when they weren't in control
I think it's ok actually. I like supercars. I feel like you need f1 2020, f1 2021, and f1 2022. F1 2020 has classic cars, like the BGP001 and stuff, f1 2021 has story and is a good game in general, and f1 2022 has supercars, you can drive cars on your favorite tracks, unlike forza and asseto corsa (without mods.)
Personally I’m there to race F1 cars over the course of a season not drive terribly handling super cars on F1 tracks. I only had anything to do with those cars for the money it gave and then for the trophy. After that, they didn’t exist to me. For super cars, Gran Turismo, Driveclub, Assetto Corsa, Project Cars, Forza and Need for Speed all do it better. I’d rather they either make the super cars good or spend the time and resources on team management aspects like managing your team mate’s engine usage, strategy, deciding if the team should prioritise the championship in a race weekend, team orders, a team relationship dynamic with your team mate which is affected by how you treat them on and off track which then affects how cooperative they are with you etc.
List of things that should be in the game IMO: 1- multiplayer my team! Or like an "our team". To develop your own team with your friends online. 2- the cars, you should be able to edit your car in all career modes at the end of season 1 or the start of the my team career. Have modules you can just change so you haven't got a boring reskinned base car throughout the game. 3- team development and 2nd driver management in my team. There is no strategy options in the my team and tbh the drivers you hire still suffer with 2nd driver syndrome, and get worse as the season goes on. I could go on but overall there is very very little team management in the my team. 4- why did they take away interviews? They were good and made you feel like you had consequences for a poor race performance, also why is it I can only select one of the top drivers in rivalry? How could I possibly beat hamilton or verstappen in season 1 in a williams/aston/etc. Overall they missed the bullseye on this game. There are way more decent features they could have gone with but chose to mess it up. I hope EA never have a cold beer again in their lives tbh. 🤣
I agree with pretty much everything you said- although I do feel the ai is actually better than last year. Aggression is good (and as everyone is saying 8:00 is your fault), I think rather the issue with AI is the perfect acceleration they get every single time while the player really can't even with a good setup. I'm fine with shit starts off the line, but coming out of a corner and losing two tenths automatically is a bit of an issue
7:56 Similar feeling when I race against the hardest AI in NFS Shift & F1 2006 game, they're too brutal and likes to punt me whenever I brake at the right racing lines. Basically, they brake late & somehow able to complete the corner at an unreasonable speed.
@@rickyRofficial Ive had all three, and F1 2021 imo was the worst of that lot. I was always going back to 2020 while 2021 was out, but 2022 is genuinely a lot better than 2020 and I haven't been back since. I really recommend it, it definitely had a rough launch and yeah F1 life is a bit useless but it's still new features and you can just not use it if you don't want. The only thing I really miss about 2022 is not having classic F1 cars like 2020 did, but I feel like the new handling model and the better AI outweighs it. Unlike what this guy says I've had some of the best wheel to wheel battles in this game I've ever had, it's way better than 2020 and 2021 - in his clip he just closes the door on the AI who had nowhere to go so of course he got spun.
For the ai i think its a good thing since it make it more rewarding when you beat them in my opinion at also racing games are samey samey with i their brand since the sport doesnt change that much only in car deaigns and some rules in my opinion also at 8.00 you squeezed that aston too much you need to give a bit more space
I agree that aggressive AI are more fun however in this game they are just complete and utter morons who divebomb you into turn 1 after lights out or try to make moves stick that won't stick no matter what happens like trying to overtake into castle around Baku
If you really believe Thrustmaster is "the best racing wheel company on the market", then imho you've clearly forfeited any right to be taken seriously with regard to anything else you've got to say in the sim racing realm.
Personally, I think the games physics is the main problem (yeah IK that the series was never accurate in physics), because this should be a realistic sim, they should make the game more realistic and add more in game buttons, because this game should be about F1, so it should show the complexity of the sport. They should just stop making the yearly releases and just focus on releasing everytime there is a huge car regulation change, like 2026 when they add the new engines, so they can polish the games and make them better, and if you want to say it won't sell, this is licensed by F1, so a game with the fastest cars in the world with realistic physics would sell, look at iRacing and ACC, they sell a lot because their physics, so imagine a game that is licensed by F1 with those kind of physics with F1 cars, and then with the fact they wouldn't have to do yearly releases means they would have a more polished game with less bugs and more time so the next game will be good. That would sell, and the cars would still be beginner friendly because assists, and on top of that if the person doesn't want to do multiple setting changes mid race, it won't be mandatory, it's just for those that want that experience. Plus, they could market with F1, the races can market the game, and with the amount of people that are out there that wants to know how an F1 car actually handles, but don't have the absurd amount of money to do so is high.
I'm a big fan of your content. But I have to disagree with you on this one. F1 games are the main genre I play and I am enjoying my time with the game and for me it's not a waste of time. The main problem for me are the bugs and crashes rather than the lack of new features. 1. Do the game modes have to be a lot different? I don't think so. The cars look a lot more different and act different too. 2. Its true that VR is buggy and I am pretty disappointed that it is, but its the first game to have VR. I would just give them a bit more time to fix it. 3. F1 life truly is pointless, but it isn't why I bought the game. In my 80 hours of playtime I have only touched it once. 4. And adaptive AI Only changes the AI difficulty, depending how well you do Just an additional note I have for the background footage. You turn in on the AI at 7:58 In conclusion for me the game is worth it, I really am enjoying myself when the game works as intended. For a casual player It might be a waste of time, but not for me.
f1 2022 is by far the worst entry of f1 games and Ai is worse then ever, right now I am downloading f1 2020 and cant wait to play that amazing game again :)
F1 2021 adds just about as much to the franchise as f1 2022 does. Codemasters didn't need EA to let the game turn into a Fifa with cars. Podium pass was in 2021, real money emotes and skins were in 2021. Like i say, 2022 = 2021 + VR just like 2021 = 2020 with different handling... Not defending EA here, they're shit. BUT i don't think it's ALL on them. If anything i think CM was skimping on development so they could really squeeze the most profit which meant they could sell the company for more. Standard corporate overlord procedure, just not by the ones on EA's payroll (at least back then)
homies getting dunked on in the comments b/c he wanted to be part of the popular "hur dur EA bad" when in reality, Codemasters did money grabs before being bought by EA and now he just looks stupid
Well you’re a happy chap 😂 The game is awesome if you only play them to actually drive the cars it’s great, the cars feel completely different than last year’s cars and it’s definitely more challenging! What more do you want?
I agree. Hated F1 life, hated the stupid music like it's awful, also why a season pass? However I did feel the racing was more exciting and car handling did seem improved. Buttttt for me I did 5 race weekends and nothing felt new and I've not touched it since.
When it comes to monetization in the F1 games, Codemasters where already doing this. Just abit slower over the years and most people just accepted it. Now that EA has the licence, everyone has blamed them for the monetization. Codemasters did it first in the F1 games for the record. Secondly Codemasters have also had alot of copy paste jobs since 2015, some where also major changes too I should add. Not defending EA here but it would be disingenuous to skip over the fact Codies where already implementing monetization and useless add ons which where once included.
But at least they didn’t feel forced, and 2015 was a bad game but a good frame work for the series, the prices they used to sell the games were justifiable in the amount of content they added yearly and what made 2021 bad was the price hike EA added in and the few content they added in launch it
Your missing the point of the fact Codies slowly introduced the MTX into a game which worked so well without them up until 2019 or whatever year they started. You proved my point by saying it "didn't feel forced" regardless wheather it was a softly softly approach or just an aggressive push, Codies set this in motion years ago and most of you just accepted it and clearly buying things too. I'm not so fussed about the price cause everyone is doing it, so that's not something isolated to EA. My reference to 2015 was that animations and assets had been re-used since then until this very day.
EA seems to have developed a business model based on: 1: Hoover up any developer that has made a popular game. 2: Acquire any relevant licenses. 3: Load the game up with junk features and micro transactions. 4: Close down the original developer. People who play FIFA have been complaining for years about EA.
I remember when F1 22 was first hyped i already had a feeling EA Would damage the series in their EA fashion. But i didnt expect it to be this bad on their FIRST release. There first thing they did was add a mode that prints as much money as humanly possible with F1 life mode where you can buy a lamp, LAMP, in a RACING game with coins that cannot be earned by playing and must be bought. And if you want to play a racing game based off an IRL Motorsport, unless you want to go the sim route by spending your life savings on I-Racing, or utilize the community made mods on asseto corsa or NR2003, you really have the upcoming nascar, indycar, and WEC Games from Motorsports Games. And if you know the trashfire that is that company youd know that we are fucked
I had this preorder on Steam. Even after having to wait a day to play it because the game didn't actually release when they said it would, I ended up requesting a refund. Absolutely terrible experience. RIP Codies.
I agree with most of this. The F1 life etc is plain pointless and the money grabbing is just BS. But if you are sponsored by thrustmaster then perhaps you should use the wheel in your gameplay bro. And you can’t complain about AI when you move over on them like you did.
I have recently found interest in the f1 genre and bought the 2018 edition (it was the cheapest) and boy did I make a good decision not buying the 2022 one
If the racing is your interest (not the F1 life stuff) check out Automobilista 2. It has probably one of the best F1 2022 Cars and you can pretty easy download skins and drivers to race against on many tracks (not the whole season though). Just my 2 cents. More of a sim than a game that one, so wheel is important.
I was super excited to play f1 22 strictly for its official VR support because all my race sims were VR except F1 but boy was I disappointed. could only run the game in low settings and it was so bad at that point because I couldn’t distinguish my braking points and finding apexes was like driving blindfolded because it was so blurry. Honestly i had a better time with 2021 and running VorpX.. thank god gpu prices have dropped significantly, time for a upgrade. My 1660 did it’s job throughout Covid but it’s time to move on lol. You served me well Press F to pay respects to the old workhorse
Cant blame EA at all. Its still produced by the same team at Codemasters. When they implement so many new features. Completely new cars/handling model etc and only have a 12 month (probably 8 month development window) before release then you will have to put up with problems. When you entitled people expect a new game year on year of course its not gonna be perfect from the off.
As someone who is just starting to get into sim racing games like this, is it still worth worth buying it over f1 2021 at the same price? I want to be able to play the version i buy even after another installment comes out, which makes me lean towards the newer game.
Why make a video on a topic you have no stake in? It's obvious you're a beginner and have no real clue that the games before 2022 had a ton of issues as well. Extremely poorly researched video.
I think EA just gonna buy every studio just so there will be no good game anymore and the entire gaming industry just become non-exist and nobody will ever play videogame ever again
Forgot to mention how sector colors don't work, and the stupid grip and straight line speed the AI has on every difficulty level after coming out of a corner. Also, wayyy too much torque is being put down in the initial gears which makes spinning out happen way too frequently. They could have literally just offered the '22 car model and dynamics to F1'21 as a $25 DLC along with some new tracks, and it would have been 100000% better than the current iteration of this game.
It's so funny until EA took over everyone was bashing Codemasters for not bringing new features, poorly made tracks, removin classic cars and micro transactions, now all that bashing transferred to EA and people trying to make Codemasters look like a victim
The only reason I still play F12020 ist the massive amount of cars you can drive. The F2004, modern F1, F2, Mp4/4 or the RB6 and so on... A couple of evenings a month we get together, everyone picks one or two maps and a car and its go go go.. They all drive a bit different and the one guy who absolutly destroys everyone with the late 2000s cars, cant even get around the first corner with the massive 80s Turbos. Its just refreshing and fun But 2022 seems to just have normal supercars (which really IS a good addition, if you werent having the feeling of lacking content everywhere else...)
It's actually not that bad. The fact that your reviewing games that end with what year it is says a lot. Also i had zero issues playing it with my Oculus.
i mean he wasnt playing VR all of VR footages are other youtuber and another footage in 4:15 using Assetto Corsa mod faking its Codemaster F1 error message LOL. i bet its footage from other person considering AC is heavily requires Wheel but he never play f1 with that wheel
The fact that this game has vr is enough for me to say that you are completely wrong. Even if the vr is still janky and far from the standard of many other games it still makes the purchase well worth it imo vr is the one thing that I’ve wanted most in f1 games and we finally got it. Now it doesn’t exactly run well as of when I played it but hopefully future updates will bring in a better experience. Vr alone is enough to totally redeem any of eas blunders
the best game driving experience is in Ferrari park Abu Dubai. They sit you in a formula 1 driving seat that looks exactly like a formula 1 driving seat. The best part is when you collide. The sit just throws you everyway. It's just so cool.
I completely agree. F1 life is pointless. You have things that aren’t anything to do with motorsport and all the shirts are bad. Plus it’s just for a background in multiplayer. It doesn’t do anything else. They could’ve added the championship mode back in where you drive as an actual driver. That would fill the gap perfectly and not some dumb thing that has nothing to do with motorsport. Suddenly, people are reporting gear changing issues on automatic gearbox which I tested and had. It only happens to players and not ai. Also when drivers in big teams struggle to perform, they usually get demoted like Kvyat and Gasly or worse, sacked. Sergio Perez (for red bull) hadn’t got a single win or 2nd place in a season or 2 and he still kept his red bull seat. Oh and his teammate Verstappen still got some firsts and seconds so yeah Perez was underperforming. Yuki Tsunoda for Alpha Tauri had got 1 point in one season and then 0 in the next and still somehow kept his seat. There are also a lack of teams bringing in rookies. The new engineer sounds like Jeff just with a higher voice. When you ask car status, it tells you about the tyres when there is a complete different question for that (this has been a problem for years tho). When you ask about weather, instead of telling you the forecast, it tells which tyre is correct (also a problem for ages). Sometimes it doesn’t even answer the question you have. Suddenly, driving in the rain on certain tracks has become increasingly impossible. United States hasn’t got all the flags around it. Sometimes in Qualifying if you get a penalty it doesn’t say at the top of your screen. Sometimes when a collision isn’t your fault in qualifying you still get a penalty. The barriers are too glitchy like in Baku (but that has recently been patched). Also Miami and one in Bahrain. Dluna F1 managed to glitch over the barrier in Bahrain somewhere. At first the game kept crashing (this has been fixed tho). The AI were overagressive (has now been patched). You’d sometimes get a small touch from other cars and get large damage (and I mean the smallest of taps). They also removed interviews with the reporter. Sometimes I start at the back of the grid in a 5 lap race and when I simulate it, I still finish in the top 10 with no retirements or small amount of them. And that’s my rant over.
The Azerbaijan barriers are not fixed. I ran into an invisible barrier the other day. I saw them glitch out multiple times in a single race and then in the same race the AI ran into the same invisible barrier causing a safety car and taking two of them out
I play F1 22 since July 1st and I have my traction control on medium. Every time I get in a corner I lose the rear so fast, so I thought to put traction control on full but that's just too easy. Is that just me being too early on the throttle or does that happen to everyone?
It is different to 2021 for sure if that's what you played before, and it might take some time to adapt but it's more realistic now than before, so the answer is yes you're getting on the throttle too quickly, but that's fine - just takes practice.
I disagree. First of all, as a Logitech G923 user on PC with RTX, the Trueforce is incredible. It feels significantly, and I mean significantly better than F1 2021. You can actually feel the car on the edge, such as understeering or right before it snaps with oversteer (1.06 fixed rev lights on Logitech capable wheels and gives a boost to FFB). There are 12 points on the suspension instead of four, which makes a huge difference in how the car actually handles. I've personally had no issues crashing, stuttering, or audio clipping and I'm just on an RTX 3070, I7-11000KF, and 16GB Ram running ultra everything. You can actually feel the downforce working in the high speed corners, especially when running lower ride heights. The only thing I wish that they had added like they said they would was clipping, or a recovery ERS mode because it's almost impossible to get it back once deployed. Nevertheless, I'd much rather have better physics and gameplay than "features". I will concede that F1 Life is stupid, but this was a good progression from F1 2021 without going over the top. The AI are second to none. Anyone who's played ACC, AC, Iracing, NASCAR, etc. knows what bad AI looks like. Is it perfect? No. But it's pretty great, and 1.06 has definitely helped to keep them from backing out way too easily. If you're running through the field, turn the AI up. The higher they are, the more aggressive they are. The difference between 102 (where I started) and 110 is crazy. I'm excited to see where 2023 goes, but I'm very excited for the proposed updates to this game, including several DLC tracks and further performance updates. If you're on the fence, wait a few months, then get it, but if you want it, get it. It's worth it, and it's only getting better. The physics is very different from F1 2021 with no TC/ABS, so be prepared for that, but otherwise, I love it so far.
I played ACC AC project cars i can tell ai in these game just boring since you not feel like battling with ai in ACC 1st place car doing same braking zone same throttle input as Last place car which is make no sense
Codemasters it's also the creator of Colin McRae Rally series, the name changed to DiRT with the first DiRT Series chapter in 2007 following the death of Colin McRae, tho this change was made only in the US, as in Europe the game still had Colin McRae name in it, same for DiRT 2. Then from DiRT 3 the name was removed.
I remember a time when EA was a beloved leader in sports games -- actual groundbreakers. I'll never forget walking into Electronics Boutique and seeing Madden 2001 playing on the display for the first time. I almost fainted. "If it's in the game, it's in the game," used to mean something. Now they've shortened it to "It's in the game," which doesn't convey jack shit. Well... it _does,_ but not what one would think. It now means "butt-f***ings aplenty are in the game." Or "There are wallet molestations in the game!" And don't get me started on their motherf^$&ing greedy-as-all-hell microtransactions. That garbage changed my entire opinion of this company, even though it's really the fault of us, the consumers, that they are still doing it.
You're absolutely right! I remember being excited to see with a new sports game. Now my attitude is now how did they screw it up and what features did they remove and replace with garbage!!!
Him: Talks about how he always plays with his Thrustmaster wheel. Also Him: Plays the entire "Review" with a Keyboard + 4:12 : This isn't F1 22, this is an AC Mod. The Trees are 2D, The Old Pitlane is open, which is blocked off in the F1 22 game. And there is no sausage Curb at the exit of Turn 1. And overall the video is quite bad
Actually the cars better to drive on F12022, Code masters made your car too sensitive to the curves on F12021 while the Ai cars all drive perfectly even on a sodden track, while your car slides ,its frustrating and it ruins the game . If you put track effects to 100 the Ai cars start making more mistakes .
Conclusion: in 9 minutes this clown provided one piece of semi-acceptable evidence.. AI, which has always been a problem in pretty much every racing game to date. This is the reality, f1 22 on launch was better than f1 21 after a full life cycle. The only people hating on 22 are ones who A. Drive with assists B. Can’t figure out setups C. Expect to just hop on and be good Or D. Combo of all. It’s not a game you can hop on and be successful it takes a grind. So when I hear casuals crying it’s pretty simple, go play something else. You’re worried about crying vs getting better, no magical patch or feature will change that. Simply play or don’t play, stop spreading misinformation (Side note: turn the full racing line off… you need to be told when to drive straight?)
There’s also the fact that you can spin on the final corner of silverstone in 5th gear 🙄. Why is the back end so unforgiving on it? It might’ve made me legendary at handling the most uncontrollable car around, but I was furious to find out the physics weren’t accurate, and left me at an unfair disadvantage the whole time.
*Pros & cons about F1 22:* Pros: - Supercars: Although useless, it's nice they've been added, to give us something new. - F1 life: It's only great for customization & as a background for multiplayer. Should've been in the game since F1 2016. - Some circuits are updated, which weren't in an update of F1 2021 (Abu Dhabi). - AI are more realistic, but they needed to be patched because they were too fast in exiting a corner. Cons: - No classic cars, like in older Codemasters F1 games. - Looks like a copy of F1 2021, same damaging model, no new features that are related to the racing in F1 cars in this game. - No story mode, which was in F1 2021 a huge deal. - Spa & Austria aren't updated tracks, while they say in the advertisement tracks have been updated. - No tracks from previous seasons like Malaysia, Mugello, China, Qatar, Bahrain outertrack, Nurburgring, Russia, Turkey or Portugal. - Multiplayer rankings are still bad, although you can come across S, A, B, C or D ranked players, it's more regional. - Bad damage design, your car can't lose it's rear wing or side pods, only it's front wing, which makes it very fake. - Prize is the same while more features have been removed than added, this game is worth $25. - No red flags, which is a proper flag in F1, which really sucks. - Like every game before, a lot of bugs are in the game when it launched, giving it more vibes that the game isn't fully completed yet. - They could've done so much more with the Supercars, like racing with them online/offline, F1 life for parties and so much more.
Worst thing is that my friend always buys the new f1 game and we always play together, do time trials and co op but of course he also bought this game, and i didn't, and he refuses to play f1 2021 with me because "why would i play that when f1 22 is out" (he also is the type of guy to buy fifa every year, he actually does that) so ig that our jolly cooperation is in the past
I wouldn’t mind the supercars so much if Classic Cars didn’t exist in previous games, why EA completely ditched them when they bought out Codies I’ll never fathom
Codemasters got rid of classic cars in f1 2021's development before ea had bought them out. EA had nothing to do with removing classic cars. That was codemasters's decision
Codemasters is also. guilty of a lot of the criticisms you’re leveling at EA. I know its popular to just solely blame EA when a bad game gets made, but Codemasters also need to be held accountable for the numerous bugs and glitches
@@tobiaslumplecker7666 in terms of tyre model F1 22 tops the 21 and handling too
in previous game you dont needed care tyre temp or even 70% wear car still stable as tyres about 10~20% ish make no sense in 21
but in 22 cold tyres and worn tyres are actually threat so if you out of pit you have to choose between do a lap slowly or warm up the tyre by jiggling which finally fun factor to me
The career mode is what i buy these games for and i tend to buy every other year (I'm still playing F1 2020).

You can't complain about the AI after that move at 8:00.
People bought this game not so much for the hope of new features, there's pretty much nothing left to add, they bought it for the new wing cars. And I didn't hear a word about how the cars in the game behave as a wing car should, if they do.
I agree xd

They are way to good
@@flakeys6447 skill issue :(
If red arrow = give space, even in front, or in multiplayer. So yes its on the uploader.
All the time you have to leave the space
NFS Heat is a good game
People just love to hate EA
Example: imagine the imola George/Valterri crash from last year but Bottas (me) was on the inside passing George (A.I.) and George turns in on Bottas before the braking point.. it’s brutal in these streets😂
Edit: but yeah the crash in the video was defiantly the dudes fault not the A.I.
+he just used Assetto Corsa VR+F1 22 mod on VR section proves this guy never played in VR
Ikr, he just totally cut the Aston off and blamed it on aggressive AI. I can agree this latest game hasn’t really added anything of value, but this video seems more like an EA hate speech than a constructive review.
Agreed. I've made this mistake before and it's definitely my fault.
There are some weird instances of hyper aggression from AI like slotting there front tyre between your tyres and just latching on like pitbulls despite you having the inside and them having absolute fields of room to back out into
The example of the game crashing at 4:27 was on assetto corsa, not F1 22
I’ve never seen that crash menu with assetto corsa
@@WolfTheLad It was asetto corsa he just edited it to seem like codemasters.

@@Rab2Rab2Rab2 still DR2.0 im ok with Even DLC price was about 2cent so 'price per content' is there content wise and it has Proper Anti Cheat for Rally game which WRC game lacked so theres no cheated Record usually in Time trial
but even then im not look back first DiRT Rally because how grippy on Gravel was
other choice is playing RBR league
@@jacktaylor5705 neither had issue with on me even grid Legend wasnt broken as you think
Agreed. I gotta say though if I was on a t248 I'd probably hate it too😂
surely i should expect a more or less balanced and finished game upon my 50-60 quid purchase? stop shilling.
@@jacktaylor5705 tell that to F1 2014
You forgot to mention:
-Lack of the story mode added in the previous game
-Lack of CLASSIC CARS
These two things removed for the sake of what? Some pointless customization feature and Gran Turismo but if it was made by amateurs? EA is a joke
Previous Breaking Point was Kinda let down
But still career mode is what i enjoy i still have fun in 22 career by Picking each team made up to manufacturer championship
I think the best thing about this game is the ability to change the paint when customising your car, from gloss metallic etc. aaaand that’s it I suppose
RIP Black Box. You created our childhood and you will never be forgotten.
Emotes in F1 game 💀
I actually like the game way more than last year. First of, you can actually play online this time around.
When you said EA brought them, that already was a sign.
Claims hes Immersive then plays chase cam lol
I think it's ok actually. I like supercars. I feel like you need f1 2020, f1 2021, and f1 2022.
F1 2020 has classic cars, like the BGP001 and stuff, f1 2021 has story and is a good game in general, and f1 2022 has supercars, you can drive cars on your favorite tracks, unlike forza and asseto corsa (without mods.)
Should have all of that in 1 game for a £60 game. It's a joke
Even Codemasters HATES Leclerc and loves Max and Hamilton
6:45 pointless challenges?
You know the actual point of a game is just fun, right?
That aside, all aspects of a game are near pointless.
well not really Game's practive program tell you how to over take properly or even ai teaches you not like this idiot squeeze ai and blames it
Personally I’m there to race F1 cars over the course of a season not drive terribly handling super cars on F1 tracks.
I agree, but saying that you cant tell the difference graphically while showing F1 2022 and 23 is a bit unfair, graphics couldnt be much better...
EA ruins another franchise. What else is new?
The fact that Codemaster ruined things by itself under EA
List of things that should be in the game IMO:
1- multiplayer my team!
Maybe they've found this results in fewer collisions?
How do you agree with everything he's said? This video is so full of BS and uses clips from the wrong damn game
Fun fact, you can't buy the previous F1 games anymore, at least on steam
nothing before F1 2019
7:56 Similar feeling when I race against the hardest AI in NFS Shift & F1 2006 game, they're too brutal and likes to punt me whenever I brake at the right racing lines. Basically, they brake late & somehow able to complete the corner at an unreasonable speed.
True, I guess buying an F1 game that was made by EA is a waste, the last F1 game I bought was F1 2020, and I haven't try F1 2021 because its pricey.
@@rickyRofficial And moreover, if I wanna drive supercars, I'd try them in NFS or Gran Turismo.

The ai is agressive in f1 2021 too i was playing and mazepin dive bombed like 8 cars
@@WDZX1 bahrain is probably the worst for that imo bc there's always one driver who hadl to do it
If you really believe Thrustmaster is "the best racing wheel company on the market", then imho you've clearly forfeited any right to be taken seriously with regard to anything else you've got to say in the sim racing realm.
4. And adaptive AI Only changes the AI difficulty, depending how well you do
Just an additional note I have for the background footage. You turn in on the AI at 7:58
In conclusion for me the game is worth it, I really am enjoying myself when the game works as intended. For a casual player It might be a waste of time, but not for me.

Standard corporate overlord procedure, just not by the ones on EA's payroll (at least back then)
I thought f1 2022 has new physics and feels different than the previous year
Yea feels worse

homies getting dunked on in the comments b/c he wanted to be part of the popular "hur dur EA bad" when in reality, Codemasters did money grabs before being bought by EA and now he just looks stupid
Well you’re a happy chap 😂
The game is awesome if you only play them to actually drive the cars it’s great, the cars feel completely different than last year’s cars and it’s definitely more challenging!
Not defending EA here but it would be disingenuous to skip over the fact Codies where already implementing monetization and useless add ons which where once included.
yeah these "youtube critics" obviously just shit themselves when they see the ea logo even if the game was awful before
But at least they didn’t feel forced, and 2015 was a bad game but a good frame work for the series, the prices they used to sell the games were justifiable in the amount of content they added yearly and what made 2021 bad was the price hike EA added in and the few content they added in launch it
@@stepladder3257 f1 2015 was 55$ on release I don't really see any difference in prices?
Your missing the point of the fact Codies slowly introduced the MTX into a game which worked so well without them up until 2019 or whatever year they started.
You proved my point by saying it "didn't feel forced" regardless wheather it was a softly softly approach or just an aggressive push, Codies set this in motion years ago and most of you just accepted it and clearly buying things too.
I'm not so fussed about the price cause everyone is doing it, so that's not something isolated to EA. My reference to 2015 was that animations and assets had been re-used since then until this very day.
EA seems to have developed a business model based on:
1: Hoover up any developer that has made a popular game.
And if you know the trashfire that is that company youd know that we are fucked
oh you mean NFTMotosports games?
EA didn't damage anything. Codemaster ruined their own things all by themselves
The AI is actually clueless compared to f1 21 but that move at 8:00 was completely on you
I have recently found interest in the f1 genre and bought the 2018 edition (it was the cheapest) and boy did I make a good decision not buying the 2022 one
2018 is the best

Thank you Robo cast very cool
just watching this after playing early access of f1 23, EA have defo improved 100% and have made f1 way more enjoyable

"Why Mazespin not spinning?"
This guy is great
Why make a video on a topic you have no stake in? It's obvious you're a beginner and have no real clue that the games before 2022 had a ton of issues as well. Extremely poorly researched video.
Enjoyed the shorter video nice job Robo, EA kills yet another studio.
Do you prefer shorter or longer videos?
@@robokast Well to be honest I prefer longer videos but I don't mind occasional short videos.
Its just refreshing and fun
But 2022 seems to just have normal supercars (which really IS a good addition, if you werent having the feeling of lacking content everywhere else...)
I did not realise this was this long sorry
The Azerbaijan barriers are not fixed. I ran into an invisible barrier the other day. I saw them glitch out multiple times in a single race and then in the same race the AI ran into the same invisible barrier causing a safety car and taking two of them out
I play F1 22 since July 1st and I have my traction control on medium. Every time I get in a corner I lose the rear so fast, so I thought to put traction control on full but that's just too easy. Is that just me being too early on the throttle or does that happen to everyone?
It is different to 2021 for sure if that's what you played before, and it might take some time to adapt but it's more realistic now than before, so the answer is yes you're getting on the throttle too quickly, but that's fine - just takes practice.
this year tyres being changed so cold tyres ore 50% ish tyres are threat
Weird flex but OK
I played ACC AC project cars i can tell ai in these game just boring since you not feel like battling with ai
in ACC 1st place car doing same braking zone same throttle input as Last place car which is make no sense
The only good thing about F1 life is the V6 engine you can have as a table..that is cool
It now means "butt-f***ings aplenty are in the game."
Or "There are wallet molestations in the game!"
And don't get me started on their motherf^$&ing greedy-as-all-hell microtransactions. That garbage changed my entire opinion of this company, even though it's really the fault of us, the consumers, that they are still doing it.
You're absolutely right! I remember being excited to see with a new sports game. Now my attitude is now how did they screw it up and what features did they remove and replace with garbage!!!
people reviewing a game while they are washed like you turning into the ai at 8:00 is the saddest thing in life...
After driving f1 in ac, codemasters f1 feels like mario kart.
tru dat
AC just lacks in career mode to me
Him: Talks about how he always plays with his Thrustmaster wheel.
Also Him: Plays the entire "Review" with a Keyboard
+ 4:12 : This isn't F1 22, this is an AC Mod.
If you put track effects to 100 the Ai cars start making more mistakes .
advertises wheel but proceeds to show footage using keyboard lmao okay buddy
But to be fair 8:00 the Aston was along side you and your tried to squeeze him off the track to take the racing line.
that kinda move is most People who play F1 online in nutshell
VR support is literally the only good addition to this new game
There’s also the fact that you can spin on the final corner of silverstone in 5th gear 🙄.
Why is the back end so unforgiving on it? It might’ve made me legendary at handling the most uncontrollable car around, but I was furious to find out the physics weren’t accurate, and left me at an unfair disadvantage the whole time.
*Pros & cons about F1 22:*
Pros:
- Supercars: Although useless, it's nice they've been added, to give us something new.
Cons:
- No classic cars, like in older Codemasters F1 games.
EA need and DESERVE to go into bankruptcy! Like.. Yesterday!
Is it worth to upgrade from 1028 game? I only buy new game when there is big update like 2014 2018
The biggest problem with CR is the stabilization is terrible. I don’t get stuck in VR. This game in vr makes me ill
@@Atrail_Mckinley4786 Huh, I would’ve though Codies struck gold with Classic Cars as a feature and would stick with it, guess not 😐
EA needs to go away. They ruined madden and all the sports games they make. F1 was fun how can u mess that up.
Fun Fact: What makes it worse is that EA tends to make mobile versions of their games like Madden 22
f1 mobile racing exists
Don't fool yourself, F1 2021 was bad. There was practically no difference to 2020. But F1 games have been getting worse since 2018
You forgot Westwood Studios. They made the C&C (Command & Conquer) series and then EA took over and shut down their studio
I dont have F1 21 or 22.
So should i still buy 22 because its the newer game and i didnt pay anything for 21 yet?
22 have most likely had same content as 21 but missing breaking point
So if you are new just go for 22
The moment he said F1 2021 was a great game was the moment I closed this video again.
To be honest I bought this game only for the cross-play
Codemasters is also. guilty of a lot of the criticisms you’re leveling at EA. I know its popular to just solely blame EA when a bad game gets made, but Codemasters also need to be held accountable for the numerous bugs and glitches
Codemasters is guilty of all*
all EA does is throw money at them
