  • With temperatures of 43C (110F) in the summer and winter falling to -4C (25F) and only 200mm (8") of rainfall each year, what food can be grown? We install air conditioning to combat the very high summer temperatures.

    Well done. 😊
    Next time you drill holes in buckets/pots like that put the holes about an inch up the side so that a bit of water stays in the bottom - not enough to drown the plant - and it doesn't all run out of the bottom straight away, which would be helpful given how little water you have!
    Make sure you water those trees as much as you can, especially the new ones.

    prepare a greenhouse like they did the stable, it is useful and you put utilities in it to plant all the feeders you want and it is easier to take care of it and water it

    Hi you two! You're so awesome with your work ethic!
    On the Pomegranate tree, as it's so young, Do Google this, but my suggestion is to cut off any blooming fruit, to allow the tree to get stronger and put down deeper roots, as Pomegranates are heavy fruit and stronger your tree is, the better! 😊😊😊🤗🤗🤗💪💪💪

    Even if you only need the air conditioner two or three times over the summer, you will certainly appreciate it over the heat on the nasty hot days. Glad to see you have the extra comfort should you need it.

    You need to fertilize your lemon trees now and every three weeks with citrus fruits fertilizer.- blood and bone, kelp, etc., plus the mildly acidic, used coffee grains. Those leaves look too yellow to me. Look up growing lemon trees.

    A small suggestion for the weeds, try plain white vinegar. It will kill the weeds and it's gone, even from soil, in about 24 hours. Come July and August you'll enjoy that air conditioner. Too bad a swimming pool isn't feasible.

    Theyre not weeds, they are soil fixers, especially when the soil is dry or non existence. Encourage them rather than dig them out so as to create some organic matter. I don't know which way your water runs, when it comes! Lol, make a small swale in its path to trap it.

      I appreciate that but these are actually growing out of the drive, rock solid earth and stone. We try to leave the 'weeds' on the land itself to encourage bees and fix the soil. I agree they are beautiful wild flowers, just in the wrong place 😔

I appreciate all your time and effort, especially in the making of the vlog and, with one hand. We have to much rain in the UK and my allotment is often flooded and unmanageable for months!. I get told to just do this that and the other. I value your reply as it makes a very good point. Hey, really nice to see all the plants, they’re all coming on great. Well done with the AC Andy, typical it would be freezing when you install it..a bit like watering your garden and then it rains ten minutes later ha ha. I think my pomegranate tree has died a death this winter, but, it is outside in the NE of England to be fair lol…mind, it survived the last few winters so I’m not giving up on him yet 😆

    • @FincaLife
      @FincaLife  3 месяца назад

      Thanks Mark. It's done well to survive the winters! Fingers crossed it pulls through. We're doing well now with the plants as we have 'sensibly' chosen to grow things more suited to our environment.

    Thanks for the your of your veggies and fruit. Did you know that the plant behind your asparagus is a sour fig, indigenous to South Africa? We used to use the juice for insect bites and sunburn. In theory thr fruit is edible, but perhaps an acquired taste 😂

    • @FincaLife
      @FincaLife  3 месяца назад +1

      It is sour fig and we were unaware of it's properties. We know it as Ice plant and locally it's known as Torrevieja weed as it grows almost anywhere round here.
