@@vietcongbuondanbannuocphan1791 you know whats funny? These builders executives have to put their home addresses when they file their LLC paperwork at the courthouse. Its all gonna be funny when we let 000s of pissed homeowners, let's see how many of them have kids or kids friends who teach these executives a lesson IN THEIR OWN HOMES now this is going to be funny. The idiots can lie & hide but they can watch their own terrified kids as their roof tiles are smashed right before a rainstorm & flood their bedrooms & their stuff. I would just point & laugh as DR Hortons & KB Homes executives watch their terrified kids as it all comes home on them.
Negligent contractors often fail to go through a "punch list". They just take the money and RUN. Great work out there, Cy. Keep these large companies honest and accountable.
I don't even live in AZ but his inspections are eye opening & a great learning tool for ANYONE who's a homeowner, not just somebody buying a newly built home. Thank you Cy!
Saw a contractor leave trusses out on wet ground in the rain for a couple weeks, then in hot summer sun. They warped. Hammered them sort of in place with people pushing them to try to straighten them out. They also used a Ditch Witch to lay water & electrical lines in the same trench. Two winters later, that water line, in the too-shallow trench froze, broke, shorted out the power. Contractor was sued, but declared bankruptcy and continued to work for the builder with their "new" company. This was Appalachia.
This guy is fantastic. He speaks truth to power and really just seems to remind me of the days before the government was entirely corrupt. These problems are caused by regulatory capture. You ever wonder why companies donate so much money to politicians? This is the reason. Buying a local election is cheap compared to, ya know, following rules and regulations and delivering a quality product. 10k to bribe a local authority compared to millions on the back-end. We need more Americans like Cy.
I'm not in AZ, and I don't expect to ever be able to afford even a modest home in my own state, but as someone who's worked construction (and who can see how embarrassingly horrible these builds are), Cy is one of my heroes. Keep fighting the good fight, man. You're making a difference, and making your client's lives better in the face of unfettered corporate greed. Truly a man of the people!!!
I have learned SO MUCH from following Cy. Never even thought a NEW home would be worth spending the money to have an expensive home inspection - but you've shared so many videos that it's needed.
You're doing awesome work. You have a level of integrity and work ethic that people aren't used to seeing. Don't let them tear you down or silence you!
Cy's videos are so educational and have likely saved homeowners untold trouble and expense. It wouldn't be too big of a stretch to say he's probably saved more than a few of their lives, as well. Thank you to Cy and Channel 3 for sharing this interview!
Sheeeesh. Worth watching these inspections. I worked construction, back in the 80's. If an any inspector found safety issues the contractor I worked for would have us fix them after firing the person that let it go. It amazes me how shoddy new home builds are here in AZ. Our house was built in 84. I have yet to find any construction problems with our house. It seems we made the correct decision to buy a used house when we moved here.
He went easy on the builders his uploads cover, there’s no way builders weren’t aware of at least half of those major issues and the subs definitely knew.
What gets me are the people that say you don't want someone as detailed as he is. It's like I can choose to ignore something if I want, but if I don't know about it I don't get that choice. Plus if the inspector is either not catching something or choosing to ignore it, what else is slipping past them. There is a reason he has as much work as he does. True master of his profession.
Great content educates. Awesome content also entertains. Cy is revolutionizing how home inspections are done and empowering people to hold builders and the ROC's feet to the fire.
Cy is the guy to call, trust & support on RUclips. Love his videos. Cy that would go well on T-shirts, "Cy is the guy" on the front and on the back "Cy's got your home's interest at 💚" Or something like that ;) 😎
Good for you Cy! You’re doing amazing work, work that other people are getting paid to do, and not doing properly. Keep it up, you are helping thousands!
Good points Cy. I know you've taught me a lot and there's NO WAY I would blindly hire someone to build a home for me and I not be there to oversee the build. Case and point why I'm building my own!
I love that he points out defects and obvious issues. Its easy to see the safety issues, its not secret or mysterious anymore for the average homeowner.

We bought a large builders house a few years ago. Before the boom. There were handfuls of issues with ours, and the neighbor had rafters that were rotted through. I couldn’t believe someone installed the lumber in the neighbors house I was looking at. I’m certain, as production has increased, quality has only dropped. These superintendents are over tasked, and need to QA you are providing. I can believe their distaste of you, but they should be working with you, and thankful. Not being the D#^*%s you are encountering. Keep em honest! Thanks for doing your part!
I know it seems like Phoenix mega-builders never allow it, but I want a 3rd party pre-drywall home inspection. Can you imagine what they are hiding back there?
I live in the DC/MD/VA area and I watch all of his stories and videos. This dude is more than a local legend. I’ve found a few things that I’d have never looked for due to his content. My house is 15 years old so these rules don’t apply, but I’m still learning a lot.
The city or county building inspectors are to blame also. They don't hold these big corporations accountable or follow up. I had some major electrical work done on my property last year. Inspector showed up once at the beginning.........that was it. We had open panels and trenches for him to inspect for a final, this went on for a month until I went down to the office to get this guy only to find out he signed off on everything the same day he showed up. He left all the details to PG&E and the electrician I hired.
Look, plain and simple, I'm not in AZ but if I'm buying ANY house, i would absolutely want a QUALITY home inspection because I dont know what to look for. And if I'm spending that much money on a home it sure as shit better be done right. It doesnt make me anything other than a consumer that wants things done as they should be. Not 3 dozen cut corners that's gonna end up costing ME in the long run. Again, I'm not in AZ but thank you for doing what you do for homeowners out there.
The commercial and financial interests are so strong that this dude honestly said that "getting what you paid for" is more important than "safety". I hate the clowns we put on camera to interview people.
Great work Cy! I have bought a new project house in the Netherlands, and the weird part is that the builder stimulates having a home inspection done here. And even afterwards, you have years of warranty if there are some structural issues, leakages etc. Why is it so different in the US..?

What I also find fascinating is the difference in perceived value. Pls don't understand this as chauvinistic bashing, just my observation. To me it is quite interesting that a million dollar house could be sold without a cellar (basement), build from wood, no "real" roof shingles, flimsy windows with no insulation, flimsy washroom ware (sinks and stuff) and so on. Here in Germany you can get a house of 2-3000sqf with a basement, either of brickwork or concrete, real sturdy windows and roof tiles and so on and itl cost you max half a million. We have company's building wooden homes here too (they are called instant homes ;) ), but the price is 30-50% lower.
