    My husband who had just returned from deployment in Afghanistan and I decided to take a trip to the UK ( we live in Australia) so he could de-stress and unwind on holiday. My husband is 6’4” tall so we paid extra to sit in the emergency exit seats, with a bit more leg room. On the second part of the journey, Dubai to London, a male passenger near us who was obviously drunk and obnoxious began arguing then shouting about his seating allocation, then he became aggressive. He climbed over his seat and the other passengers to reach the aisle, then he really went off. He brought his drink and sat in the flight attendants fold down seat. To cut a long story short he started abusing us, the cabin crew were helpless, and it culminated in the passenger accidentally-on-purpose staggering sideways and hitting my husband on the head and shoulder, as we sat trying to ignore the abuse. My point is - do the airlines HAVE to serve alcohol, they don’t allow smoking, so why serve free alcohol ? Take the cost saved off the exhorbitant ticket prices on long-haul flights. Nobody wants to be forty thousand feet in the air, trapped in a metal tube with an aggressive drunken passenger.

      We had a guy wake up on a flight and freak out and start lashing out, like the guy at the beginning and end of this video. He was in his late 50's. His wife was with him and it was alzheimers. When someone flips out like that, consider it might actually be a medical situation. He woke up confused, held down (seatbelt) involuntarily in a small space and failed to interpret the situation reasonably. Back in the day, seats were more like armchairs and it was a luxury situation. I think conditions have deteriorated so much that it doesn't feel like a luxury to fly on any level, but a punishment. If I have the option to get around without flying, I do. But when I need to cross oceans, there just isn't another option.
      I hate flying. Really hate it. But I have responsibilities that require it. Half the planes, I can't close my legs, the curve of the seat in front of me is so close to my knees. I don't always have enough airmiles to upgrade to first class when I do fly. Probably because I avoid flying because even if I go business class or first class, I still hate flying. Even ignoring how we've been packed into spaces that not all of us fit because we're either tall, fat or muscular, it's still boring with long waits, lack of personal space. I hate flying so much.

Anybody who deliberately , and unnecessarily , endangers the life of other people gets 10 years . Maybe you should do that in the US . All these spring breakers in Japan and in Europe would end up in jail the second they land . There actually was a crazy guy like this on a flight i took from Okinawa to Tokyo, the second we landed in Tokyo the police was waiting for him, and he got given the choice between jail time for 10 years or leaving the country after paying a fine of 13000 dollars, without the authorization to re-enter Japan for 10 years . And this is only because he was American, had he been Japanese , that was jail , no trial . We don't waste tax money on trials when the person has been identified and reported by the entire flying crew and passengers . You are so soft in the US this is pathetic . But then you drag a passenger out of the plane like an animal when he is actually just trying to fly back home and wasn't causing any problem until asked to leave the plane . Great logic !

    I have worked as a pilot in this industry for just about 20 years and honestly a lot of the time the cabin crew could easily defuse a situation, but instead flex their authority over the passengers just because they can. Perfect example is the little girl that had to pee...how easily that could've been resolved. That's not to say that passengers don't make cabin crews life's difficult either because it's definitely not an easy job to deal with upwards to 300 people being very demanding and needy and not to mention rude. Just saying from my experience I've definitely seen cabin crew sometimes add to the situation opposed to helping.

    Flying sucks nowadays..not sure people truly understand the way it was... Thru the 90s, most flights were not full. You could easily utilize extra seats sometimes whole rows were vacant. Planes and seats were bigger and wider making any flight more comfy. They served you a hot meal free. They checked bags free. They did a better job because there were not nearly as many passengers. That’s really what it hinges on....
    Nowadays, there are algorithms in place whereby there literally is never an empty seat, EVER. I haven’t been on a flight in the past 9 years that did not begin with that all too familiar announcement “please take your seats as we have a COMPLETELY full flight today”. I mean it just sucks. No one wants to be crammed into a packed flight for 5 hours... But that’s all there is nowadays...
    Of course the airlines could GIVE A SHIT LESS... They all make more money, and they NICKEL AND DIME all of us... and for what?!? The service is nonexistent.
    If you plan to fly anywhere I’d advise Vicodin and JD to take the edge off, and a lot of meditation beforehand.... There is no such thing as a pleasant flight anymore, and it absolutely sucks

    • @georgeklimes7604
      @georgeklimes7604 5 лет назад +6

      @Eddie Simongkhonh Depends on the "pitch" of the seat and how much of ones body is legs versus torso. Nothing to do with weight. I am almost 6'4", and there are many airplanes with seats where my knees press hard into the back of the seat in front of me. That forces me to bend them under my seat, stick a leg in the aisle, and/or twist my legs so they go under the seat in front of me. I try whenever possible to avoid certain airlines and/or airplanes when the "pitch" is not enough. The person could weigh 160 pounds or 260 pounds. His or her legs would be the same length regardless.

    • @georgeklimes7604
      @georgeklimes7604 5 лет назад +2

      @Cher L. Depends on how long his torso is compared to his legs. Some tall people have longer legs. Others have shorter legs but longer torsos. It also depends on the airline and plane used. The "pitch" used varies. Some planes have REALLY small pitches, and no one that tall could sit straight with his legs in the seating position without having them bang against the seat back. Again, weight is not the issue. It's how long his legs are.

    • @georgeklimes7604
      @georgeklimes7604 5 лет назад +3

      @Eddie Simongkhonh No, the weight is not the issue so much (though your son is pretty skinny which might help a bit). I know guys far taller than me who can sit OK (sort of) in smallish cars and SUVs, but I cannot without my shins or knees hitting the dashboard. Some of them weigh the same or more than me. I'm almost 6'4" and 240. Some tall guys have taller torsos than others even at the same height overall. For instance, 2 guys 6'3" could have different inseams - one at 36" while the other is 34". Also, you need to know what the "pitch" is of the seat your son sat in. I guarantee you that there are planes where he could not sit up straight without having to cross his legs or bend them under the seat. It also depends on the thickness of the seat back in front of you. Different airlines and plane configurations use seats with as little as 29 inches and as much as 32 or so inches in economy class. I cannot sit in a seat with less than 31" of pitch without my knees pressing into the seat back in front of me. I've been on lots of planes in 40 years, and it can vary wildly.

People were just laughing at me talking to this guy knowing who he was. I have also sat next to famous lawyers, banker, Hadley fund managers, authors, and more. I once took a flight from Paris to the Ivory Coast only to be taken hostage for a brief time until Air France paid out money. I then flew on to Legos. The scariest thing that ever happened was flying from Las Vegas to Atlanta. The flight crew (pilot) flew us into a thunderstorm. We ended up rolling the aircraft while in a step dive. We had the altitude to recover but several vomit bags were used.

Not seen on this video was the captain repeatedly pleading that he was incredibly thirsty, another sign of the condition. Your fat ass might have that much space, but this woman clearly was not a heifer. You also don't get allowed to get up and access your bags if they aren't letting you get up to pee.

      I doubt those kids are worried about missing class.

    If drunkenness is to blame for these STUPID outrages then why do airports have bars & sell alcohol? Why don't they see their common sense ( use their BRAIN'S) & CLOSE THEM DOWN! PERMANENTLY!!! But, if a passenger is disruptive by other means ( none alcoholic related) then why isn't it that the passenger has been given a FULL!!! history check ( i.e mental health ) the moment they are trying to book a flight ( as long as that person isn't going a to fly within a few hours bit of a problem but, not necessarily impossible! ) to see if they are allowed to fly. O.K this proberbly would cost the likes of the flight companies millions a year. But, isn't it safe than to be sorry!

    4:23 'Did you know at that point you were ending your career as a flight attendant?' - I thought they'd let him back on the next shift.

    It’s common because these people didn’t have discipline or taught respect when they were brought up.🤷‍♀️

    Increased comfort would help. If ONE or TWO ROWS of seats were removed from each aircraft, and the seats rearranged for maximum leg-space, problems would be reduced.
