  • Join in with the Restored Crew as they step out of the norm and dig into some much-needed work around the shop. After wanting a back entrance to the building for years, the guys team together to see what it takes to install this new overhead door. With Lance being out of his automotive element, he leans on Dad to guide this ongoing carpentry project to success. Running into some "shocking" events and extreme heat, the guys work through all the obstacles it takes to get this new shop door cut out and framed in. If Sawzall's, screw guns, 2x4s, and electrical wires are your thing, then this video is for you!

I enjoyed the garage door install a lot, but I think the header should have gone up first then the vertical 2 x 4's would go under it, providing a lot more support than just the screws you used. Hope it doesn't sag on you.

I think I'd probably spend a lot of time at your guys shop I wish I lived closer. I build these things I've got the trim to go around that outside opening and over your 2/4 to keep the Sun from deteriorating the wood and critters out of the ribs of the siding. Great job this will come in extremely handy in the future. Now for the ramp outside have a truck of good compactable material delivered right to the back door and spread it out as you like let that sit as is driving in and out of it see how you like it before changing it to a concrete slab that is my opinion an cover's two issues first one being it will naturally compact over the next 8 months and the second issue you can address will the trailer have clearance and not drag on the top of the slab going out. Depending on how far from the center of the rear tire to the back of your trailer will determine if you can drop quick or need more runout. Good rule of thumb 1 inch of drop per foot of run so you might have to go out 16 up to 18 ft out if it's a 16 inch drop. From slab to ground. You might just save a lot of hassle in the long run. And then when you decide to pave the ramp you will have a good foundation to start from. Truly enjoy all the videos you guys put out even these different types of things. Keep up the great work and content. As always looking forward to seeing what you have for us in the next one.
