You're right, it looks wonderfully cozy! I was so glad to hear you say "car coat" because we always said that at home - I love the contrast of the light/dark grays so that it almost looks like you have a binding. And great tip on the binding. I cannot imagine how hard it would be to remove stitches - I'd put holes in the fabric for sure! Love you - xoxoxox
Bet that coat would be fabulous in boiled wool with a decorative contrast thread along the edges instead of hemming them or turning them under. Embroidery would be great on it too!
I haven't been following you too long, but I'm really enjoying your reviews. Thank you for all the effort you put into them. You are a wealth of information. 💕
I agree with you, that’s a gorgeous coat! I had forgotten until I saw yours, but I have a kwik sew pattern that looks very similar! I’ve had it for years! Your fabric is exquisite looking, and I need to go back and watch the video again to see where you got it. You’ve inspired me to pull that kwik sew pattern out! Thanks for sharing!
I made mine from Joann Fabrics raspberry Luxe Fleece. I widened the neck facing 5/8" on both sides, and hand-sewed over the trimmed back neck seam. It makes the neck sturdier. I also lengthened the sleeves 2". These were good suggestions. This coat was comfy for Easter dawn outdoor worship!
Your coat sounds gorgeous, Carol! If you’re on IG, tag me when you post it! I would love to see it! I am so glad you found my review helpful! Thank you so much for letting me know! 💗
Hi Andra! That is such a great coat. I love how the wide hood creates that shawl collar. I like how it looks with the addition of the cuffs. It's also cool how it came out two toned because of your great fabric choice! Very nice, as always! 😁💕
Hi Andra - Your coat looks so comfy. The tips for sewing the coat with fleece was very helpful. Wish I had a coat like that when we lost power in a wind storm for over two days and our house got so cold! It was in the 40s during the day and the 30s at night. 🥶Take Care
Very nice coat. I made a jacket with the lux fabric. It is luxurious!!! I see you have a picture of my all-time favorite. I Love Lucy. I thought I've seen them all several times, but I don't remember an episode with her sewing! I would love to have a print of that for my sewing room. Is it available online? Thanks for sharing 🙋🏾♀️
Thank you so much, Pammi! I agree! That fabric is so fab! I found the photo of Lucy and the sewing machine online! I’ve had it in my sewing room several years! I thought it was a fun and truthful addition! 😂💗
I've added this pattern to my ongoing pattern wish list. I am doing good about not buying any more fabric or patterns.... looking forward to July. ;) Thats when my freeze will end.
Yay! It’s a great pattern! Just be sure to watch out for those really thick sections! If you’re on IG, please tag me when you post a pic! I would love to see yours! 💗
I bought 3 of this pattern, I made the short version first I did this because I want to make all the sizes , this is a great easy coat to make, very easy, my next coat is going to be color blocking, thank u I love your coat.
What a lovely coat - I love the fabric you used. I can see you wearing this loads. I’m staying away from fleece for the timebeing as I’ve just made a dressing gown for my husband and you’re right - it’s impossible to seam rip any mistakes as you can’t find the stitches. So my husbands pockets are wonky and they’re staying that way 😂.
I wish I had that coat on right now! 💕 I have some royal blue wool I’ve been saving for the perfect coat. Maybe this pattern is the one to use. You know me…I love classic, simple lines with a bit of added detail like the binding you added to the hood. You look great, Andra! Thanks for sharing the details of this pattern. 😊
Love this, Andra! Thanks for sharing. I have the pattern, and some deluxe fleece, great pairing. Serger is on pink now, both machines have told me they only want to sew spring. Sew, spring it is. But here in the Midwest we have a pretty chilly spring some days. (Do you hear my justification there?) 😂😂
Thank you so much, Deb! Can totally relate to chilly spring days! We have the same here! That Luxe fleece from JoAnn is so cozy and perfect for this pattern! 💗
Thank you so much, Gladys! When a fabric has nap, if you brush your hand over the fabric, it will have a different feel, depending on the direction your hand is moving. It may also change color a little bit. When you cut your pieces, you want the nap of the fabric going in the same direction for all the pieces. I hope that helps! 💗
Hi thanks for the tutorial! Im making this pattern into a quilt coat. do you think i could bind the edges of the pieces first and then sew them together? i want avoid open seams but i think it will be hard to do the bias binding after all the pieces are sewn... i would appreciate any insight you may have
You are most welcome! That may work, but, I’m not completely sure. You will definitely need to use a machine that can sew through very thick layers. Keep me posted. A quilt coat sounds gorgeous! 💗
Andra- I have a question? I purchased a reversible wool blanket I want to turn into a coat but I want to make it using a hand blanket stitch. Do you think this pattern would lend itself to that? I am hoping to make the coat reversible.
That sounds gorgeous, Tracy! Are you literally sewing it by hand? If so, I would practice on a few layers first, to see if your needle and hands can tolerate it. A few of the seams in this pattern are super-duper thick! Keep me posted! 💗
Great review on the coat! Looks so amazingly cosy as you say. Glad you said about the length, on me it would be touching the ground. I like the look of the short one. Thanks so much for sharing ❤ Great job x
Such a simple but effective design! Looks so nice and comfy cozy! 💞
It is so comfy-cozy! See you soon! 💗
so cozy! that style really suits you and adding the extra cuff length was definitely the right call.
Thank you so much, Sara! 💗

Awww, maybe next year. Have safe travels home ❤️
Awww, maybe next year. Have safe travels home ❤️

Hi Andra, I don't care too much for hoods, I was wondering if this pattern could turn into a rounded collar on the back instead of a hood. thoughts?
Hi, Gloria! I’ll bet you could continue the shape of the shawl collar around the back neckline! That would be gorgeous! Keep me posted! 💗
Andra- I have a question? I purchased a reversible wool blanket I want to turn into a coat but I want to make it using a hand blanket stitch. Do you think this pattern would lend itself to that? I am hoping to make the coat reversible.

May I ask what size you made? Diana
I don’t mind at all, Diana. I made a medium. I apologize if I omitted that during the video. 🤦🏻♀️💗
Great review on the coat! Looks so amazingly cosy as you say. Glad you said about the length, on me it would be touching the ground. I like the look of the short one. Thanks so much for sharing ❤ Great job x
Looks so snuggly!
It feels amazing, Margie! 💗
